Love the futuristic-casino visuals, particularly the spawning-in/dying felt good (and the music complements it well!). Congrats on making all your art in the jam time!

I like the concept. Using playing cards and other objects as ramps is cool.

However, the controls of the dice are a finicky (probably because of the cube shape--I'm not sure how to improve this, maybe using a different shape for collision?). Perhaps allowing for some arial control or making jumps less tight would be good too. (I only finished the first two levels.)

The positioning of the camera could be improved as well, as I felt I was fighting it a little.

Great job on the game! The art is fantastic, and there's a ton of potential here.

Really love how momentum and physics was used in this one. The level design also feels like a happy wheels tracks, overall an enjoyable and fun game !

No doubt you've received that comment times and times again but, super great and impressive art work, including the music. The gameplay is pretty fun too! It's only held back a bit by the clunky camera, I wish I could have controlled it with the mouse. And I would have liked to see the dice more integrated into the gameplay as well ; but still, super good job to everyone on the team!

I really like the enviroments you managed to create here within the 48 hours of this jam, it gives the game a very nice feel

The graphics and polish are definitely the best I've seen so far. The only thing I would recommend would be to make the restart button a single hotkey ie: 'r' rather than in the menu considering how much the player needs to restart.  Additionally, I appreciate the fact that there was a downloadable version to play as it was unplayable on the browser due to lag (it ran perfectly on the downloaded version).  Also I would appreciate it if you could review my game!

I think I agree with a lot of the comments below but the whole theme and aesthetics are some of the best I've seen this Jam. In my opinion, for these types of game the best philosophy is to give the player the fastest way to restart as possible. I felt in some of these levels it took a bit of time to get the die rolling so to speak. But anyway, still had a lot of fun with this one. Great work guys.

great game liked it so much. but camera keep rolling but its ok cz theme is roll the dice haha. :) Overall Good Job.

Beautiful and well executed, I'd like a tiny bit less inertia and more snappiness kinda like super monkey ball, but I get what you were going for with the feeling of being a rolling cube, I wonder if there's some happy medium?

Developer(+1)

You nailed it on the head, I think the idea pitch to the team was "Super Monkey Dice" then Dan went and built a quick and dirty prototype while we were discussing other ideas and then once we saw it we just went for it. Super cool you picked up on that.

I agree that the movement could be dialed in, I think what we were avoiding was creating a character with "Toad in Mario Kart" precision of control, but also not icy movement, could use some dialing in for sure.

I had a hard time trying to control the dice. Nice work on the enviroment.

Developer

The camera is a big part of the control as has been noted, but as far as going in a straight line as the die was it as cumbersome as one would expect playing as a die would be or do you feel like too hard?

The music and presentation overall is great, and I get what you were going for with the gameplay. But I had some issues with it.

Firstly, the camera never seemed to know what it wanted to do and that sometimes made it difficult to figure out where I was going and properly position myself.

Secondly, the physics seems to be too hard to control. I assume that's kinda part of your interpretation of the theme.  I'd probably give the player more stopping power and potentially add a jump ability. Adding a jump might ruin the balance of a few levels, but it would help a lot with game feel.

Overall, good game!

Developer(+1)

We actually did have a jump mechanic in the dev build to make level testing a little easier in some spots, but didn't want the base cube to have that ability in the finished product. Given more time we wanted to have each of the different dice seen in the environment to be playable versions of the character, each with their own ability (one of them being a jump). Next time we'll get there faster for sure.

love the music!

i thought i would mind the fact that my collider is a sphere, but surprisingly i didnt

i do think my player has too much mass/inertia. very difficult to turn around.

some air control would help with the feeling too, even if it isnt too realistic.

also, the camera makes this a lot harder to play. camera programming is really difficult, so i wont be too harsh. some of the levels wouldnt work well with a fixed camera. imo the best decision would have been to use a standard 3rd person camera.

also this is important: you say you recommend a windows build, but i dont use windows, i use linux. if theres an important upgrade with a downloaded build, you should really be providing that on windows, mac, and linux.

Developer

We don't usually do linux or mac, but have found reasons why we might in the future outside of the jam even haha, so great call out there. Hopefully the web build worked just fine in the meantime.

We though about adding some in air straif to the character, but landed on the other side of the fence.

On the collider though, you've got a good eye, it is a sphere when you get up to speed, but a cube when you are at rest, a part of our not so secret sauce to try and get it feeling just right, glad you didn't mind it.

The game is great looking and the idea is awesome, really fun, unfortunately the camera does not listen. Loved the way the dice feels, also the level design is spot on! This needs to be finished, incredible work for 48h jam! Great work folks!

Bootiful.  Just bootiful.  Got a bit samey but hey!  48 hours?!?!?  very impressive

Great presentation! The game looks and sounds great!

A few quality of life controls would have helped a lot. Direct camera control, as others have said, as well as a dedicated restart key.

I also think giving the dice more weight would have helped with the controls/feel a bit, but that's just speculative.

The level design itself was good. The cards forming pipes and ramps was super clever and honestly satisfying.

Great submission!

Developer

Thank for the positive feedback. On the dedicated restart key, that was something I was kicking myself for after the jam, definitely would have helped, not everyone has been finding it in the menu.

The graphics is gorgeous to look at and the idea behind it was very nice. Only the gameplay I felt kinda difficult to see where the dice is due to camera position being very faulty, and somewhat difficult to cross the two tables due to gravity and physics.

Still liked it!

The aesthetics are great and the soundtrack too. I think the gameplay would work great, but the camera just makes it unplayable for me after level 2. But I dont want to get to repetetive on that as many other comments pointed the camera issues out already.

The Dice- Table- and Card-Design is superb. The futuristic fonts really give it a really cool vibe.
