Really fun little game! Def has a lot of potential, but I dont quite feel the theme coming through in the gameplay. I also think that if I'm only supposed to run right, it might have made sense to make this an autoscroller, like temple run or subway surfers.

How does your game fit the theme?
To fit the theme, High Roller features 6 different platforms that spawn in randomly through the endless runner (6 being the number chosen to represent the number of faces on a die). Also it features a sort of city/casino themed setting.

What relevance do the dice have? And why do you make a platformer with 1-block jumps? GOD!!
Deltsarune Battle Theme haha
It was very hard at first beacuse of the contorls, but you can get used to it. The presentation is nice though, it looks cool, nice sfx and a fitting music.
Pretty fun to play - the hardest part for me every time I started a new game was the first jump - once I had that down I was able to coast pretty well. There were a couple times I got stuck no the corners of the platforms, so working out the collision a bit more would polish it up a bit more! Great work overall, and congrats on the jam submission!
Found it real hard at first, but after getting the hang of the controls it felt really good to play as a platformer. Still feel like starting the way it does with the single blocks each time is evil, however it means you have to get good quickly to be able to get far. Solid game!
Really solidly done! It gave me super meat boy energy which is a great thing! One small easy change I might add you be to map restart to space or something so I can restart quicker...I died a lot lol
The polishing is really nice, the jump feels good and the art is cute. Once you get the hang of the speed and movement its challenging , but not unfair. Good work!
Pretty fun! Seeing all the shapes the platforms make with their numbers of dice is neat!
A fun platformer, but I'm unsure of it fitting the theme?
I mean, of course, I see the dice and casino theme (nice detail about the number on the dice being the length of the platform btw!), but I feel like there's no game mechanic that really involves dice nor rolling.
But nitpicking aside: it's all fun and squishy! Once you get used to the jump's physics, you be zoomin through the level. (I sometimes got stuck inside a wall, but it's game jam after all, that happens haha!)
Plus, I've seen that it's your first game, so really nice job! ^^
Thanks for playing! For the theme, I interpreted it more as a game that incorporated some sort of RNG system rather than having game mechanics involving dice or rolling. With that in mind, I designed an endless runner that would throw 6 different platform configurations (to match with the six sides of a die). But you are right, in hindsight I should have brainstormed a couple more ideas that fit the theme better rather than just implementing a dice and casino theme over my loose interpretation of the prompt.
Regardless, I appreciate the feed back and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Don't worry, finding a good idea is very hard, even more with the deadline's pressure.
Last year, I only found mine Saturday around 12h~14h, which left me only a day and a half for the whole concept and integration!
Now that you explain it, I see what you did isn't as far as I though from the theme, since the length of the platform is linked to a die result, that is shown on-screen.
a bit hard but overall really great! Lovethe art! (it would be great if you could check out my game too!)
A nice game! The music and art really matched well with the vibe of the game, and the gameplay itself was pretty smooth.
It took quite a bit of getting used to though: it presents like an endless runner (and you note it as such yourself), but the spacing of the blocks sometimes require more precision jumping, more like a platformer. The combination is probably quite interesting, harkening to the chase sequences in some platformers, though I struggled a bit (and it felt like the bullet sped up over time?).
Anyway, nice job!
