Really fun game! The art was really good, a few animations would have been nice though! Overall really nice game, good job!

I had a lot of fun with this one. One thing the other comments don't seem to have mentioned is the background is quite busy and it makes it hard to spot the enemies.  There's definitely a lot of room for improvement and polish but for a first jam game you've done great! (The repeating music is just a penalty for dying and not a bug right :P )

Great concept, very original from what I have seen. I think a little more polish on visual feedback and player movement/controls, and this could be a neat platformer. Awesome effort!

I really love the concept for this game. I think less and weaker enemies so you can reliably kill them in 1 - 2 hits would make the player feel less weak comparatively.

I love the idea! It's a fun implementation of the theme, it just needs a little extra polish. Nicely done though!

I like the pace of the game! it is very dynamic and I really love it!.

But I am not sure if it is character moving or the world around him? :D

Developer

Yeah in reality I wanted to have a background going across the whole of the level but I sort of ran out of time so I stuck a png on the camera and called it a day :p

Glad you like how it plays!

For a first game this is great! Like the idea - the shooting and combat feels pretty good too. In terms of constructive criticism, some more juice (ie. camera shake, particles, etc.) would go a long way in making the game feel even more fun to play. Regardless, great on job on your first game and good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I'll keep it in mind next thing I go to make. That and also getting someone who can actually do assets might help.

Honestly, for a first game, not bad. The game is ambitious in the right areas. The controls were a little floaty, I would suggest taking a look at how games tend to handle momentum for platformers. The aesthetic was nice  and there were less bugs than I've seen with some people's games that have been making stuff for far longer.

Keep up the good work!

I did my best to make the controls good but I see what you mean about the floaty-ness, will definitely look into that next time I make something like this. I ended up being able to squash the major bugs in a couple of hours after the jam which was annoying, but I'm happy with where I got for a first jam.

Thanks for the kind words!

Man I really like the concept of the game! It is a really original idea! I haven't been able to advance too much though, because the game is really hard :-), but in a good way. Lady fortune has not favored me! Maybe something was wrong on my browser, but I wasn't able to control the direction of the bullet with my mouse. I clicked, but the cards/dice where shot towards the direction my character was facing and horizontally. I wasn't able to shoot diagonally like the enemies. It I could point with the mouse it would have made it a lot easier. If this was not intended, then maybe it would have been  more adequate to shoot via a keypress instead of a mouse click.

Developer(+1)

Yeah the more I think on it the more I should have had it so you point and clicked with the mouse and shot in that direction, rather than shoot in the direction of the player just horizontally, but I could barely get it working with the enemies so low chance it would have worked properly with the player.

Thanks for playing! And glad you liked the concept.

Loved the unique idea ! the pixel art was very cool too , Good Stuff Overall !!

I love the idea of having two characters, with one rolling dice and one playing cards. They even have different particles and all, love it! The enemy art is obviously missing but that is absolutely fine.

Though it took me longer than I’d like to admit that you have to press ‘R’ to attack initially because it doesn’t roll once at the beginning. Maybe a tutorial or just rolling when the character spawns will help that be moe clear.

Apart from that, well done!

Developer

Yeah I'd thought putting it in the controls would have sufficed but I will admit a bit more direction would have been nice. I'll definitely keep some form of tutorial in mind for the next jam.

Thanks for the kind words, and next time I'll actually have enemy art xD

Art and music is cool, the controls feel nice. Some animations and sprites for the enemies are missing but 48 hours are hard :D

Nice pixel art and music, but:
1. you can just jump over opponents
2.the opponents have no art

Developer

Yeah a lot of the art was grabbed right at the end, not an artist myself and I couldn't find anything I liked for the enemies. A lot of lessons learnt considering this was my first jam, like have an idea of basic art.
