Amazing concept with great execution. There was enough there where you actually had to think through what you were doing without it being too complex that it slowed down the pacing. It was nice and balanced--the walls didn't immediately come down. The presentation was well done as well. I don't think I have much to contribute in terms of what can be improved, but if you were to continue development, the possibility of adding one or two friendly dice might make it an interesting local multiplayer game. Great work^^
Again a top game. Complete with sound, animations and a clear goal. Mechanics are easy to grasp and it is a lot of fun to play. Definitely one of my favorites of the jam!
My first full score! The game is fun and easy to learn. I'm addicted to this game!
That felt amazing! The game is really well polished, moving around and attacking feels very solid. The sound effects are super punchy and the animation is great. I'm impressed! Also the defeat scene is really good. Well done :D
Me upon losing the game: 'Oh my god. That is brutal, what is wrong with you guys?'
Lmao 😂
The art is nice, presentation on point.
Seems solidly built, with a good idea.
I don't think I'm patient enough to play this like a strategy game though, just zooming around trying to smash things most efficiently. It works for a while...
I think it's a bit too difficult to try and figure how to maneuver the dice to get good damage, at least for me. I think a good few of these jam games have just wanted me to memorize in 3D how a D6 will rotate in any circumstance, and I just don't think that's going to happen 😅
It's especially tricky since you have to understand the dice's orientation based on an unfolded projection of the faces, and then plan those moves all the way to an enemy. My brain melts just thinking about it. But if you could master that I think this would be fairly rewarding.
Anyway, great execution of the idea, so good jobb
Love the movement and attack mechanics. Great artwork and satisfying gameplay loop. Very well done!!
wow, this is a super impressive game and really well designed.
Presentation wise, I think the whole thing looks phenomenal, and I mean phenomenal. Everything is very pleasant to look at and you (meaning the team) somehow managed to make dice have personality. Audio wise, all the sound effects worked well and sounded premium, and the mixing with the music was very well done. Speaking of the music, it also worked really well, and fit the setting very well. The biggest praise I have to offer on the presentation side though, is showing what the next head of the dice will be if the player moves in a given direction. Thank you so much for doing that as it allowed me to be strategic without having to remember the different sides of a dice, I have played so so many dice games that didn't do this and I am really happy that yours does. That final animation when the baddies break through the wall was also a really nice touch, and a good call to action to retry. Really fantastic work.
On the Gameplay side of things, I love the core mechanics, and I think its a very elegant system and if you chose to release this game as is on mobile, it would do really well, because of how polished and well integrated the core mechanic is. I think giving the player multiple moves for each of the enemy die was also a wise choice as it allows the gives the player a good chance given the large number of enemies. Overall, the game just felt really really good, like moving the player around was fun, and literally crushing the enemies felt waaaay too good. I honestly have no feedback about the gameplay, I loved it, and it was bug free.
Thank you for sharing your game, and I hope you expand upon it in the near future.
I loved the art. everything fits perfectly together. I like medieval themed stuff. but I'd like to see some power-ups or abilities to make it more strategic. maybe 2X power, a speed boost, a shield, or freezing enemies.
<3 awesome art, awesome presentation, and fun gameplay. I really enjoyed it. good luck!
Of all these "I am a dice that rolls and defeat foes with my numbers", this is one of (if not) the best.
1) The preview on the ground lets you see what you will roll before commiting
2) The time stops when you're not moving leaving you some time to consider what to do
3) You can roll several time a small number to beat a bigger one
These seem to be "small" improvements on paper but the stack up and make a huge difference !
Congrats for doing one of the most polish games in this new genre XD
So polished little game! Very impressive for the jam. Just the animation and sound of crushing boulders is so satisfying. Really cool take on the theme too. It becomes very difficult quite fast, but that's ok with this arcade-style get-a-higher-score gameplay. Great job!
I played it on my stream! Here's a recording in case you'd like to see it
The premise was simple, but the strategy was surprisingly deep. The number UI really helps me a lot to visualize what move I wanted to do next. This was very fun and frustrating (in a good way) to play, congrats on finishing the jam !
One of my favorites! my score was only 89 so far, but I'm coming back to this one for sure!
Awesome presentation and implementation! Fun game concept. Incredible work!
Great idea, I can see a very polished game with unusual Mechanics and nice art-work!
Great design, the kind of game were it always feels like there's a smarter way I could be playing it! I like the way it made me think about my positioning relative to my dice value, it always had me trying to think a few steps ahead but also just let me go hog wild and charge all around the place if I felt like it. The art and sound design were on point too, the way the dice rolled was so satisfying! I agree that a tooltip showing the enemy's sequences would've been a great touch.
An incredibly well-designed and presented concept. If I weren't busy with other things, I'd probably obsessively play this game for several hours. I really enjoyed the tough-yet-fair increase in difficulty as time progressed, and I also appreciated all of the minor details mixed in with the presentation, such as how the die gradually create desire paths in the grass, and how the lose condition is actually shown to the player, rather than the game just ending as soon as the wall is breached.
Very well made in all aspect, and I like the idea. The art style really goes well with the gameplay !
Wow!! what an execution of a great idea... I wouldn't be surprised if I see your game in the GMTK video. Great job!!!
This is a very original idea!
The variable strike force is very cool for the strategic component of the game, forcing you to remember your positioning in order to do decent damage.
I really liked it. I wish you could get into Mark's video!
