Very cool art style, nice work
Thanks!
feels really fun to play! the dice throwing as a resource really helps balance this game so that it isn't bullet spamming. It forces the player to make risky plays ("i can sit up here and snipe most of them, but eventually i have to go down there and retrieve the dice and brawl the enemies"). Really great game design!
Thank you! I actually wanted to implement the dice more into the game (maybe as health too) to drive home itself as a resource.
I really like the fact you can't just spam attacks, and it was a really good balance between going fast and slow at points. Movement feels really good as well as the dice physics. All in all a really juicy game, well done!
Thanks! I'm happy you think its juicy~
I really appreciate the mix between a platform game with an hardcore FPS to shot them all before the shoot to you, I started to speed run it, and than I realized that I had to do 1000 with the enemies that I skipped :D
I'm so happy to hear you try and speed run it! But unfortunately, the dice combos at the end itself aren't fully working. In this build though, someone said 7 pacifist runs would reach 1000!
Thanks for playing!
I like that we can't just randomly keep spamming attacks. We got to get back the dices. Interesting idea
Thanks! I really didn't want it to feel like just another spammy platformer shooter game jam entry (which mine definitely still is) but thanks again!
Neat game!
Originally I thought it would be a game that posed the question of "Would you rather fight 1000 dice sized goblins or 1 goblin sized dice beast" so I posit it to you dear developer! What would it be?!
Quite interesting.
In a game of numbers, a thousand Dice Sized goblins would definitely beat me any day. I can probably focus better when trying to fight 1 Goblin Sized Dice Beast. Of course, either way, preparation is key! If I had nothing I'll likely lose to both.
Anyway, thank you for your query, and thanks for playing!
Thank you for indulging me! :D
The game was great fun.
Great concept! Platforming and art were nice, and overall amazing job!
Thank you for your kind words :)
Its pretty fun once I got the hang of the controls, it helped to take my time and clear out the enemies first and I like the result screen at the end with all the information! Great job!
Thank you for playing! I really wanted to tie in the game and a point system instead of it just being open ended.
Inventive integration of the dice into a platforming experience. The extra wrinkle of having to retrieve the dice once thrown adds some unique strategy. One thing I was looking for was more clarity on what each die/ability would do, but still think its a unique-enough twist on platformer mechanics to flesh out further. Nice work :)
Thank you! I wanted the dice to feel like a proper resource.
Since you asked,
If I pushed it further, I would make a dice customization screen. But as it is now, a quick menu showing each one before hand would definitely be helpful.
This is game is hard! I do like the dice having different shots, that was fun!
Thanks for playing! I have no idea how to properly balance things around but I' glad you found it fun :)
Great game with nice visuals. But I found difficult to shoot enemies or I am bad at this game idk.
Well the projectiles don't really shoot in a straight line most of the time. I could have tried to do something to make it easier to aim but I'm not super sure how to yet. I'm glad you enjoyed the visuals :)
Nice art and cool idea! I would have loved to see more unique projectiles though, only 1 and 4 stood out to me, otherwise I just spammed what I had
I completely skipped over the split shot (Dice 3) which would have shot ghost dice but there issues with collisions that I don't fully understand yet.
I'm also planning to tie in health and dice as a thing to prevent dice spam.
Thanks for playing!
It's very hard to hit ennemies with your projectiles, and the cyclop thing is very annoying.
Yeah, I don't know how to do the targeting line that curves. Would definitely help people aim better.
I've gotten disdain towards the cyclops before, I'll tell them that they're annoying.
Thanks for playing!
What a challenging and hectic experience. I was screaming all throughout the run. Trying to keep all your dice together while trying to survive is a good combo. I also like the dice powers, especially 4. Great game!
Thanks for playing! Yeah, the big dice was definitely the most fun to add in too.
Great work. I really enjoyed this game. I like the variety of attacks from the dice and the challenge of dealing with the variety of enemies. The artwork is on point and looks fantastic as well.
Thank you for your kind words!
I enjoyed everything about this game jam entry! Very well done with the short amount of time given. I did find myself mostly just spamming my shots at the enemies - so perhaps there's a way to add another layer of strategy to give the game a little more depth?
I considered tying your health to the dice too. So if you get hit you lose a die too. But that needed me unravelling some spaghetti code with collisions and stuff. But I feel like that would make you want to make each shot count even more. Definitely needs extra testing for that :)
I really like the game play and how you have if your responsible with your dice you get more points. I do wish there was a death animation or screen. I thought it was a bit strange that the goblin threw yellow orbs instead of the die. The 4 die is overpowered but super fun to use. A little more variety in the dices powers would add more depth to the game. I enjoyed playing it!
Oh it doesn't show well, (my mistake) but the yellow orb actually changes its sprite like a die. But yellow and white don't give any contrast. Also I actually skipped the splitting dice shot~ With a bit more work, I want to add a shop where you can buy faces and customize your dice :)
I was soo bad at this :| But it looks great and I had a lot of fun playing, so :D
I'm sure you just need a bit of practice! Thanks for having fun :)
I'm too keen on how every time you pick up a dice it overrides whichever one you're currently holding. It'd add a more strategic angle, in my perspective, if they were placed at the end of your deck. As is, you may as well ignore your current loadout for all it's worth.
Yes! It is such a huge oversight on my part that coded the dice practically in reverse. It's the first thing I've fixed now that the jam's over. I hope you still enjoyed.
I enjoyed it.
Though another critique I had (which I was actually editing into my last comment just as you replied) is that I feel like the long-distance cyclops monsters should fire in spurts rather than streams. If you get spotted by one, you either take it out first or it beats you to a pulp before you can react. Having some breathing room would help.
Oooh that's definitely worth considering. But in all honesty, the bullets all have some weird physics on them too that I need to fix. So I gotta fix those issues first.
I couldn't get very far since the controls were quite sensitive, but what I did play was great. The art was especially nice.
aw I'm sorry, I've heard the sensitive controls issue a lot. But I'm happy you enjoyed what you could :)
