Love the boardgame feel of everything, was very addicting and enjoyable.
Very well polished, doesn't feel like a jam game, highly rated !
Amazing! Had lots of fun playing this. 😄
The visuals look great and the music sounds great. Overall, everything just feels super polished.
The gameplay feels great. I love how rerolls are limited by the number on the die, and the number on the die affects the power of your actions. It really makes you think carefully before rerolling in tough situations.
I noticed a small bug/oversight - is the player only supposed to be able to roll the numbered die once per turn? I assume so, but it's possible to quickly spam Z to roll it twice, which sometimes causes issues with rolling the action die.
I was happy to read in the description that there's going to be an updated post-jam build. Look forward to seeing it!
Simple and fun, gj
Great entry.
I've seen some other people comment on short coming so I'll say some ideas I had:
1- deck starts out too defensive, I think you want 4 attack markers to start and customize it from there.
2- Buff is *really* bad. Perhaps if it also buffed your heals/block, but it runs out too quickly (expiring before you can do anything if you roll a 1)
3- perhaps roll two dice on movement and let the player pick one so they can get to a shop
3.5- If I finally get to a shop, let me buy more than one item. I had a ton of gold and wasn't able to use much of it.
4- I'm not sure how you set up dice, but there is an exploit where you can jump after you've done your first roll, as the dice are moving over to do the second roll. This lets you reroll your number, though you'll have to jump again to roll action even though it also changes.
I really enjoyed this game though.
Progress stuck after I jumped like 20-30 times in total. Dunno what to say. The visual is nice and stylish
gonna agree with what's been said already, I've tried a handful of games for this game and this one has the most polish and kept me entertained longest of what I've seen so far! The strategy of assigning stats to different skills depending on what you roll each round is very cool.
But yeah. With profusely self-healing enemies, all it takes is a couple of bad rolls to end up right back where you started but with gradually less health. Maybe having single use items that you can accrue over time throughout the game could help balance things out? Idk.
That being said, it's very very impressive work for only 48 hours of development, wow!
I love the overall concept, especially the "reroll" mechanic. I just wish movement wasn't also randomized. I think paths you choose (i.e. shop & difficult enemy vs. two lesser enemies) would be better, as I just did a whole run with no option to upgrade. Also, two healing enemies is really really REALLY hard to get rid of.
Really strong entry, the music is cool, the art is cool and the gameplay is on point.
I had fun with a bug that allowed me to roll one dice if timed correctly too, the only “bad” side I see is that stalling ennemies to heal is too often a good strategy.
Art and animations are just marvelous! The gameplay is fun with a lot of potential, but I got frustrated very quickly because of the luck factor, and gave up after getting stuck for a long time against two healers on my second battle :(
Anyway, it’s very impressive all this made during the jam! Super congrats!
Cool Game !
Really simple gameplay yet very well executed and easy to get into. The visuals are really neat & the music fits well.
Great job :)
Thats a really good game, perfect theme presentation. But the game over-reliance the "Dice", which is random number creator, and lack of game balancing. But I have to say that this game is the best and intereting game I have play so far.
One of the best ones for me! A very nice idea with an excellent presentation.
A simple but satisfying game with plenty of room to strategize with very high quality art, Great job!
This is my favorite game jam game so far. The mechanics remind me of dicey dungeons but with your own spin. I love the addition of moving through the world with the dice as well. I read your comment about mandatory shops and thought that was a very smart idea, but I also think if you gave fighting rewards as well it would be relatively balanced (Slay the spire style, but not additives to your dice like they do with cards). It is a very RNG based game but it is still very fun. You included the dice wonderfully. Also, I don't know if this was an accident or not, but after you get your number dice if you jump fast enough you can reroll at no cost.
I like the core mechanic. There's quite a variety of different enemies, shop and the other upgrade thing, and I like how they depend on which spot you stop on, though this is just purely random. It would be cool if you had a bit more options during combat, though the upgrades are an interesting addition. The healing enemies can be annoying because you need to have a lot of luck to kill them before they just heal back up. The game looks and sounds very good.
This is a creative idea with the dice and I would love to see where you take this after the jam.
I think this was spot on with the theme, really liked the art, music and the game design!
I did had bad RNG streaks and it did feel frustrating a big. It could be interesting to find ways to mitigate this (consumable like Health pots?).
Also, the +3 healing shield didn't seem to work for me. Maybe because I had bought another shield prior?
This game looks really great!
A lot of RNG, but you have a little but of tactics with the reroll option and the shop.
The game fits the theme very well.
Impressively polish presentation !
I was so happy when I realize I could jump again and reroll the number dice if I wasn't happy with it. This adds reflexes to the randomness and gives a bit of control.
The -1 on the number for each reroll is also cool.
Very cool game ! A bit too random for my taste still ;)
Nice presentation, the pixel art looks fantastic. Not much of a fan of the 8-Bit music though. Gameplay is alright, but pretty frustrating at times. The healers are super annoying, because they heal each enemy every round and you can't effectively deal with them, because you are dependent on a good roll. If you don't get enough damage in like 2 rounds in a row, they are fully healed. Of course, this is complaining at a high level, so for a game jam game, it's pretty good!
On another note, I found a bug: if you jump while the transition between the two dices, you actually roll the first dice again and you can get a different number if you time it right.
