Really enjoyed your project. Awesome work!

Progression: creating multiple 'levels' to introduce concepts would be welcome. If I don't read the tutorial, It's hard to get started. At the same time, the tutorial is better understood after having played a game and failing. Not sure I would have understood properly the tutorial if I would have read it prior to starting the game.

UX comment: Event button looks like an information label, which doesn't provide the player the sense that it's a clickable area. Tutorial easily covers this, but I would put a bit of effort to clarify what can be clicked and what can't.

The most important aspect of my participation within a jam, is to reach my personal goal, which is not always to submit something at the end of it. For the most part, it's about having fun and learning for me.

If submitting a project at the end of the jam is important for you, I would recommend trying to push a build very early on, with a single 'feature' in your game (even if it's only the UI start screen!) The more you go with an iterative approach, the easier it will be for you to plan properly in the future, and estimate properly each step along the way.

I hope you had a good time nonetheless!

I like the tower defense type of games! I think this has potential (limited resources, activation of 'canons'). I think you could push this further and make a really neat game out of it! Good job!

Good job on completing!

  • a simple gameover / retry windows would be nice
  • Adding a simple highscore would provide a goal

Really liked and enjoyed this game! Worth pursuing the idea!

  • More tweak to the values atk / shield / defense to ensure the levels keep being interesting (difficulty curve)
  • I think it would have been nice to reroll dices after each turn for the player.

I enjoyed the game! I like those type of puzzle game and I thought this was a nice mix in between Yahtzee and the likes of Bejeweled. Good job!

Improvements:

  • Considering you are using a lot odd and even numbers, it might have been interesting to add colors to the dices.
  • I tried using the parry ability, but since I don't know how much damage I would have received, or when I would have taken the hit, it didn't feel very good.
  • I ended up with a very basic strategy, which was to match only two even number until the monster died (and using big numbers to heal). It could be interesting to add more value to more complex spells which would provide more incentive to take more time before picking the simple patterns.
  • some sound effects / animation could be nice when hitting more complex patterns to reward the player

Really liked the visual effect, retro vibe.

Improvements:

  • The rotation felt restrictive and frustrating, considering the speed at which the rest of the game goes. There's multiple ways you could go to tweak this and make it fun, depending on which way you would want to go.
  • The items were odd. You are given a random item, and you have to select it. It leaves the impression you have a choice, but you really don't. So a bit of friction there.
  • You can retake the items multiple times in a row which felt more like a bug than a feature. Not sure which one it was.

Nice take on the theme! One of the best subs I've seen. Good job!

I had a lot of fun, and really like the strategy and building my dice.

A sense of progression could be added: storyline, different scenery, etc... that would keep the player engaged.

Fun game!

I like the concept and the 'matching' game, but didn't had a reason to come and give it another run. A highscore or any other element that would give an incentive to do another run would be nice.

UI work could be improve to provide proper feedback. The behaviour of the buttons were not very clear (what is selected, what is the state).

I liked the eerie vibe and the small narrative pieces as you are progressing.

Not sure what happened at some point. I thought you always had 30sec per floor, but reaching one of the floor, it seems like the counter didn't reset. So I only had 4 sec, which made it impossible to continue.

Game mechanic was too simple for me to want to repeat and push further, but I still have some curiosity towards learning a bit more about this world and the what is happening. I would have most probably continue if it wasn't for that bug (or what looks to me as a bug).

I think this was spot on with the theme, really liked the art, music and the game design!

I did had bad RNG streaks and it did feel frustrating a big. It could be interesting to find ways to mitigate this (consumable like Health pots?).

Also, the +3 healing shield didn't seem to work for me. Maybe because I had bought another shield prior?

Oh nice! Completed 33 levels with my ogre. I had plenty of fun with it. Definitely a game I would play on my phone.

  • I didn't notice if there was a mechanic if you had multiple item in the same line or not, but I think there is space there for you to try different things to have some exciting moment (like critical hits)
  • I think that monsters / levels were rotating very fast which means creatures didn't matter much to me after the first ones. So I wasn't looking at the top right corner much.

Thanks for the feedback!

We noticed that it was indeed confusing. We thought about adding a piece of UI (meter) to show the throwing force at which the dice would charge, and we still had to tweak that. Most people we shared it with didn't even notice the force increase with time.

We wanted to have some effects depending on the numbers that would land, those effect exist on paper only haha. So you are right, they currently are dice-shaped bullet.

Next jam, the kids will have a bit more experience, and we might be able to have a better result at the end of the jam!

Thank you for your comment :)

Family game indeed! It's the first time for my 2 kids doing a jam. So my goal was accomplish: a lot of  fun, and a ton of learning! They were both very proud to see our submission and have completed it!

Really great idea! I love 'deck building' mechanics, and this combined with the dices were on point with the theme and provided a great game! Good job!

Enjoyed this one very much! Great concept and fun!

Love the play on dices and using the dots creatively!

Fun game! Clean, nice art and controls.

The roll the dice mechanic felt a bit forced and didn't had much to the game to me.

Amazing! Love the concept and art! An idea worth pursuing!

I like your idea of a clicker that involves the position of the items. I wanted more at the end! Good job!

Fun game! It was interesting to try the different dices.

It would have been great to have more different effects: bullet colors, shapes > similar to the grenade.

I'm not a fan of blocking controls for the superheat, but overall nice concept!

Liked the idea and enjoyed throwing the dices with different effects!

Issues with collisions (dice going through walls) and controls not feeling super tweaked.

It would have been great to have little dices instead of the balls (might have helped with performance too) and have something done with the result of the dices (when the game ends?)

That was awesome! love the art, the idea, controls... That was very close to perfect for me :)

overall great idea and fun game!

I was a bit confused with the GM controlling the dices of both players and npcs, so just a bit of friction with the immersion side of thing on the theme.

I enjoyed the different ideas that were brought in as you move along the level. Good job!
