The game was nice to play. The idea is good. I liked the art style as well. Music/SFX is nice, but I think it was too loud. I see a growth potential here. You could add some more fish/boat types, and fishing nets (?). Also, I thought I'll be able to catch bigger fish to scale. Well done!
Very cool, good spooky atmosphere, simple and effective design making for a cool complete gameloop :) Well done!!
Holy Mackrel this is one cool game!
Its giving very dredge with the spooky vibes.
I love what you did with the big fish!
The whole thing was super polished and well done. The visual were really pretty.
My only feedback is that I think it would be better if after you had successfully caught a fish, your fishing line was automatically pulled back.
fantastic work!
I love the idea and the style, also something unnerving about the huge fish lurking underneath. I just don't understand how to skip the bigger fish following me? no matter how fast I go they keep chasing me.
Thank you for providing feedback!
There is currently only two ways to get away from a boat-sized fish the player has to either swim far enough away or dodge 3 of it's attack for it to get bored and give up. We're looking to add new ways of interacting with it after the jam.
If you're talking about the giant fish it's indeed impossible to swim away from it, but must of the time it is benefitial to let it attack and eat you - this doen't do damage to you (at least it's not intendent - there is currently a bug when you can hit a rock if you're close to it, when the giant fish attacks) and you can catch more expensive fish inside.
Again thank you for playing!
Actually a pretty fun fishing minigame. Really cool art on the whale and charming art for most everything. Good music implementation from DeerBoy1940, adding that additional layer in the whale is a nice touch. Good job to the whole team.
Nice game! All of the art is really well done. It was a bit confusing to me what to do at first, and the game does tend to be a bit unforgiving. I also wish that the boat controlled a tad less slippery.
i love how the style makes this game scary to play! a lot of the paint blotches in the water + low lighting had me thinking there was a huge fish in the water haha
The huge and tiny contrast, concept of scale with uncommon form, love that.
Loved the visuals! Sailing around in that foggy atmosphere and searching for fish feels great, and the fear of being eaten by the giant fish adds to it really well!
Thanks for playing!
Giant fish might be scary but they are actually somewhat on the player side as they allow you to catch more expensive fish inside. It's the average-size fishes you should be scared of (those are evil).
cool concept! The scale theme is used well
Next time I'll paint the water like this lol.
Everything is so innovative. Fishing is not my thing but this is really a good game!
Oh Oh Oh! I'm glad you liked the water!!! We also wanted to include ripples on the surface, as to add more perceived volume, but unfortunately that didn't pan out.
Kley made wonderful water in Don't Starve, I looked at this game when trying to understand how all of this should/could work. In Don't Starve Together there're used simple textures and ripples; in Don't Starve: Shipwrecked could be found more complex textures and solutions (water wise, at least). Do recommend checking both games out for some amazing problem solving!
Thank you for playing!
I like the idea and visuals, however, at the beginning the game is quite brutal. I could spend a lot of time just sailing around either looking for a small fish, or run away from big ones. The minigame is quite good.
Well done!
Thank you for playing!
Initially we had some plans for giving the player a way to fight back against the medium fish using harpoon or hide away from it in the tall grass, but those ideas got cut due to the time limit. Right now it's possible to either swim away from the fish or make it attack you 3 times for it to get bored and let you go but we do think that the player should have more options to interact with aggressive fish.
The lack of small fish to catch is also a really common complaint so we will probably adjust the spawn rates or even change the way spawn system works in the future.
Again thank you for playing and providing feedback!
I bought all the upgrades! Love the immersion and the big fish inside!
Thank you!! Really glad you liked it!
Love the atmosphere and style! Being inside the big fish was a cool surprise.
Haha yes!! We're so glad that people are getting eaten! We were a bit afraid that players would avoid big fish, but also we didn't want to spoil the surprise.
I'm glad you enjoyed playing!
I really enjoyed this!! i love the art and the music and atmosphere is on point
Hooray!!! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
Nice art and atmosphere - I also like the idea of fishing inside a whale :)
At the beginning of the game there is a severe lack of direction to the base, which is more frustrating than interestingly challenging
Thank you for your feedback!
The "return home bubbles" are currently spawned randomly and it is indeed possible for the player to not find them for a while. We tried to solve this problem by significantly increasing the chance of them spawning, but idealy there should be a guarante that player will find them after some fixed amount of searching - we will look into that after the Jam.
Glad you liked the game!
really cool vibes, art direction was certainly on point!
Thank you!!! I'm glad that the atmosphere reads well!
Thanks for the feedback!
The game looks like so fun and the toons are giving a nice vibe. The theme is very strongly present in your game, it actually feels like being a small guy on a boat in the large ocean! Great job!
( I also ran into and intresting... feature?... bug?? When I got swallowd by a big fish. the player fishing sprite,um dubbled?? )
Thank you for playing!
The misteriuos ship in the giant fish belly is actually a bug which we only discovered like 5 hours before the deadline. We all thought it was so thematicaly fitting for player to find some of his broken ships inside the giant fish though that we just decided not to fix it. We call him bro and really glad someone found him. The bug doesn't happen often so you can consider yourself blessed by the Fish Gods!
It fitted so well actually that I was not sure if it was a bug to be fair xDD
I AM THE CHOSEN ONE!!! >:DDD (or few, not as dramatic so not changing it)
OH YES!
We don't really know how he's there, but I love him so much. Seeing his light shine from the corner of the screen is always so exciting! Like finding a long lost companion! Though yeah, finding him for the first time was like seeing herobrine in minecraft; we thought one of us added that as a prank (still might be true, for all the programmers denying it)
Overall, I would call it a feature simply because it brings me immense joy
Thank you so much for playing! And a special thanks from me, an avid doppelganger enjoyer, for finding the little guy!
Im starting to love this fella now too! The lore deepens! And thank you too, for (accsidentaly) bringing Guy to my day. It was my pleasure! ^^
Very meditative game, loved the tune
Super chill game, I liked it :)
