Love the viiiibes. Very charming and cool.
The music and announcer voice are really cool, gives me like a late 90's capcom vibe.
the jazz guitar solo in the main track was really nice, did you play that in or midi sequence it? Also loved the big band brass vibes :)
I think the controls can use a bit of work. As of now, the wall jumping made me irrationally angry, sort of in the same way as some NES platformers do. I think the main issue is how the movement controls affect the wall jump.
If i'm on a wall on the left and want to jump right, i need to let go of the left arrow right as i jump, otherwise firefrog will start going left in the air. if i press right before jumping i'll come of the wall and will fail the wall jump.

Both of these make the wall jump require more precise input but in a way which doesn't feel really fluid.
An idea to make it feel better could be having a slight delay before coming off the wall when you press right and also keeping the trajectory of the walljump until you get another KeyDown (so the left that was held at the start of the jump doesn't affect the jump trajectory until left or right is pressed again)
Maybe these could cause some other issues, so you'd have to play around with that but it could be a starting point.
Great job though, the game is fun, even with the little bit of rage :)
I appreciate the feedback on the controls. I think the issue you’re running into is, you don’t need to hold down into the wall to slide. As soon as you start sliding, you will slide indefinitely. You can simply time your jump and will connect to another wall if it is there. That was easier for the kids playing my game, so I removed the need for using the directional input at all while wall jumping. When I revisit the controls, I will remove pressing away from the wall as the way off, only allow jumping or a predefined exit button.
The jumps in order are, jumping into the wall, jumping into the wall while holding left and then releasing on contact, jumping into the wall while holding and continuing to hold, jumping from the wall with only pressing jump, jumping from the wall while pressing jump and right, jumping from the wall while pressing jump and left (2x), and then jumping from the wall while holding the jump button.

I've struggled a bit with the wall jumps at the start but once I got used to it it wasn't that bad. The game feels complete and really fun to play with really good looking pixel art and music. And your main character is cool as heck! Great work! :)
Really great music, its impressive you made it yourself. I love the theme of this game, it so unique and entertaining and the little civilians are quite funny with how they stand there asking for help and then as soon as you say hi to them they just walk off to safety.
I did struggle with the wall jumping but I think that is just me not having played games with wall jumping for a while so I am rusty (I hope otherwise it is quite embarrassing). Also, for the tutorial consider including the space bar along with the Z key for jump as I think quite a few people prefer using the space key (I know the space key does jump it’s just the game not telling you about it)
The polish and music in this is awesome! I did find it tough to do the elevator shaft wall-jump section, and to be returned back to the beginning for messing up. I def want to see this game fleshed out in the future (and more of that OST!) GMTK FROG GANG!
Gameplay is solid, agree that shorter levels may turn out to be more enjoyable - still, smooth and fun! The frog is cute :)
Sound effects and music are great, absolutely perfect, reminded me of my Sega days. Vibrant and funky, fits the style, very cool
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. I am really looking for this balance advice too, as I want that feeling of accomplishment from completing a longer level, but the sense of progression of the shorter segments. I believe you and several others have pointed out a few ways to make that happen that will allow the time system to still make sense. Thanks for playing
Great fun! I genuinely love this concept, it gives me meat boy vibes and maybe mercenaries vibes with having to collect the time lol.
The only changes I'd make are making each level shorter so dying isn't as punishing, and making respawning and rescuing a survivor faster. It feel counterintuitive to have the game slow to a crawl when you wanna keep zooming through the levels.
If you ever expanded on this game I'd play it!
Awesome game, great atmosphere and the art really makes it immersive. I absolutely love the stoic look on the main character's face. Like he's perpetually thinking "I'm getting too old for this shit".
The gameplay is smooth, although the wallriding needs a little bit of tweaking. I got used to it by the end, but in the beginning I was expecting the walljump to other walls to stick even if I was holding the opposite direction from the previous wall. Currently, as soon as you hit the other wall, you immediately bounce off it again, which is only solved by switching directions mid-air. Again, 'minor' tweak with a lot of dev time needed, so it's completely understandable because of the jam.
I loved playing it, but gave up about 3 or 4 levels in, because halfway through there was a jump that was very big and felt almost pixel perfect. It felt a bit unfair given the fire that's directly below. I really tried, made it once but failed on the jump immediately after :P
Overall I think this would be a great fleshed out full game!
I tweaked the walljumping to what it is now based on watching kids play. It was easier for them to not have to change direction at all while wall jumping so that’s how it exists. If you try it again, see if it’s easier for you if you DON’T try to change directions. lol. We’re used to working harder.
Oozing with character, this made me grin throughout haha. Really fab submission, and loved the stylish endings to the levels along with the citizens you've saved waiting for you. Only thoughts are I wish I could still move when I saved someone (the animation is great, but I sort of wanted to run along with them!), and I think restarting at the beginning may be overkill since there's a timer system - If I just respawned a bit behind with a time penalty I think it would still feel very fair while punishing the mistake nicely.
At fist I wondered what it means that the music is "ALL ME". Thought it would be all made of voice lol. Thank you for making this! I just love the platformer with a bit puzzling
I saw your comment on also doing a frog game and wanted to come check things out. Then when you said that you also used your voice, I needed to play it. It was fun and reminded me of Fire Force. My only criticism is I wish saving people didn't hold you in place for as long. Great job fellow frog dev!
Love the effect + music when you complete a level, very old-school sonic vibes!
Fun game, full of life and polished to the little details. The art is cute, the sound effects are juicy and the music is amazing!
I love the atmosphere of being a fireman saving people from buildings in fire.
The platforming felt good, the timer encouraged me to go fast, and there was quite a bit of polish too!
But I found that touching fire restarting the whole level felt a bit too punishing to me. Maybe it could only make you lose time as a penalty?
All in all, great job.
I really appreciate this feedback! I’m actually glad you commented on that, because I struggled with that decision for about 2 hours. I really think I’d like to implement checkpoints, like in the old sonic games, the time just doesn’t restart when you die, encouraging you to finish the level when you die, but also encouraging you to get back in from the beginning to try for the gold medal. Thanks for playing it!
Awesome game, super fun to play and clever interpretation of the theme.

This is a very well polished game! The music is great and really keeps the pace going! I like the jazzy feel!
