Really fun and enjoyable to play. The difficulty, length and variety hits the spot perfectly for a game jam entry. The art is very nice and the intro cutscene was pretty entertaining.

My only complaint is that the game mechanics could be conveyed slightly clearer. E.g. it would be nice to know the turn order, or have some indication whether Donkus is seen by the enemy.

Otherwise, really solid entry, well done!

Thanks for the feedback! Keep an eye on the game after the jam, we're definitely talking about adding more. We had ~100 frames of animation that haven't even been incorporated yet, with plenty of other abilities as well!

Cool puzzles and nice art. The gameplay flow could use more communication. Multiple times I clicked a spell by mistake, tried to turn it of to later see that I am casting it instead of moving. Nice illustrations.

Thank you for your critique! Everybody tried as hard as we could. But we did come up just shy of feature complete for the UI in the Jam submission. Keep an eye out for our updates after!

Very polished and cute art style. controls not to difficult either.

Very charming and fun to understand ! Nice spin on the concept and the abilities were intuitive to use, very nice job !

Pretty game with narration and cool music and an interesting theme that I simply don't have the understanding nor patience for playing it far enough :'D

Looks fun and graphics are great but I couldn't get past the first fire level, Donkus went full Donkus and refused to move :(

Developer

Try having Donkus get the Chest before he gets the Key!

so... much... POLISH! Hats off to your team, you all did an amazing job and I hope to se you on the top 100. On top of being really well executed, the idea is super cute and a very good take on the theme of the jam.

Congratulations to you all <3

You honor us with your praise brotha! Thank you so much. We're shootin for the top!

Such a great game! Loved the story and theme. The puzzles got really hard really quick though but maybe that's on me. I'm not great at puzzle games.

Super good game! The mix of trying to help Donkus while not letting him see you made a really compelling and nerve racking gameplay loop that was very fun. Donkus's ai was very well made, so making him go where you want didn't feel frustrating or unfair, and instead was thoughtful and made you really think about your moves. The only thing is that it was a bit confusing when the enemies were first introduced, as I didnt really understand how they worked. But as soon as I realised they moved with the red boxes and line of sight, they became a cool mechanic, just maybe a little bit of tutorial would be nice in the future :)

But apart from that, all the tutorials and overall polish was great! This has been the only level based game so far in this jam that has compelled me to finish it, well done!

Very creative take on the theme! BTW, Are you supposed to do something on the first levels besides walking back and forth out of vision?

Submitted(+1)

Liked the humour with this concept, but I couldn't get very far since it seems like the level that introduces the fire spell might be bugged. I still definitely think it's a cool game.

Developer

Try getting the Chest first!

Submitted(+1)

I was getting the chest, but apparently I just didn't understand how the fire's lighting radius worked. I was trying to put it one tile away diagonally. The thought to put it two tiles away didn't even occur to me.

Tl,dr: I am dumb.

Developer

No worries! Thanks for going back to give it a shot!

The issue that I was having with the game made me think that some kind of indicator of the spell's area of effect would have been massively useful. Of course I understand if you didn't have time to add it, what you were able to accomplish in 48 hours is nothing short of astonishing, but more intuitive ability design would have kept the focus on the puzzles rather than figuring out the abilities.

Developer

Thank you so much, your input is very valuable going forward!
From what i've heard from the team so far, the idea is that this can become a full game.
You're absolutely right though, we cut a bunch of different ways Donkus could've interacted within the last 12 hours. But thanks again for persevering past where you got stuck before, and also for your helpful comment!

A very funny game, and I love that you went out of your way to make a narrated cutscene at the start too. Great submission!

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept and fun gameplay. I love the art, and the opening cutscene was really cool. Great job!

It seems like "Roles reversed" is a theme that let us a lot of room for humor, in your game it was really the feeling I had. Great work I loved playing it !

donkus so so brave... Love puzzle games, great work team!

Submitted(+2)

Amazing! love the take on the theme, the doting parent trying to baby their kid is just so cute :) Great work!

Submitted

Awesome game!

Not exactly sure how lighting is supposed to work, which made puzzle solving a bit more difficult that it should have... But maybe that's just me.

But I really like the idea! The art is also really good, not to mention the music and, above all, voice acting. I'm genuinely impressed that this was made in just 2 days!

Developer(+1)

Yah, Maybe we weren't clear with the lighting  but the Hero will only move towards things in the light, and if there is nothing of interest in his range, he doesn't move.

Really good! The Pixel Art is Amazing!

Really creative and sweet idea. Were unsure about how to get the spells to work right away. Had a fun time playing!

Great interpretation of the theme
