It is so much fun and satisfying to "kill" the little settler in a chess kind of way. I would love to play more of this.

You could invent some new mechanics and twists and make it a hit in the app stores! It's kind of relaxing with the music supporting the mysterious athmosphere of the fog itself. I'm a big fan!

So so SO much fun! I wasn't expecting to have to use so much strategy to beat the enemies in this game! I wish it was a bit more clear when my fog would auto-fill around me after a turn, and when I would get another turn to use, but overall probably my favorite game from the jam so far!!

Oh yeah also the fog is coming the fog is coming the fog is coming the fog is coming the fog is coming the fog is coming

9.999999999999/10, add a speed up feature and it would be soooooooooo perfect. I loved it so much, it was fun strategizing and praying to RNG god so that the enemy with the 3 tile range thingy would not wipe me out xD You did really well making this game, implementing a lot of features to it.

Thank you, and double thanks for the stream.

Seeing people play and love this submission makes it all worth it

Such a creative concept! Loved the sinister music, fits the game well. The game would have difinitely benefited from having faster animations, especially as get more moves per turn, but other than that, had a great time. Well done!

Very fun, I liked the how the units had different strengths and weaknesses. Setting up a good capture felt good. Would love to see some more unit types as it develops further.

Submitted(+1)

Very fun game, with some more units and more advanced mechanics I can see this being expanded into a full game. Also some tiles that produce new units unless they are destroyed would be cool. Would also be cool if there were multiple civilizations fighting each other.

Submitted(+2)

Really cool idea and was pretty fun to play. Only complaint I have is that the animation between turns is a little slow, it'd be cool if you could fast forward it at least. But aside from that I really liked this, well done.

Submitted(+1)

A very creative game indeed. It can easely be expandable in a lot of ways! Good job!

Took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out that the fog can spread on it's own. 10/10

Wow! This is a very unique concept, and I like you taking the "fogs of war" too literally, and then making it very good, polished, and well-executed!

I played multiple times and basically get addicted to the gameplay! Enjoy the BGM too!

Very good quality game that makes me hard to believe it was made in 48 hours.

What a cool concept for the gamejam theme! Well done!!! :D

Submitted(+1)

Very good idea. Has potential for expanding to bigger game.

Some critique (every other stuff is great, so i dont have to talk about them):

-Smoke autofilling is sometimes annoyingly slow

-The game could have more variety, some interesting enemy setups that require certain stradegy(and more enemy types helps this)(ofc i understand the time limit)

-the long sight enemy should show where he looks next, also maybe all enemies should show that idk

Otherwise rly fun and nice game

The back and forth is very fun, this game is so well-paced, which is rare for a gamejam game. Really good job!

Great game. I enjoyed a lot the art and the music. The gameplay was really funny too, such a cool turn based game. Well done.

Submitted(+1)

This was really cool! I like the concept and the artwork you chose really fits the theme!

I consumed all the cities haha!

Great game!

Developer(+1)

The music does a lot to set the theme, and I tried to make sure all the movement kind of matched.

Glad you enjoyed it!
And congrats on beating them all

Nice game, I espacially like the mood and the soundtrack. Very nice chill game.

I had trouble understanding how to take advantage of the "auto-filling" and how the game worked at first. A small in game tutorial would do wonder.

Wow, that was fun! Thank you for the game. It took some time to realize that I could “eat” the characters moving around the map. The animations and art style are very appealing.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game, but you should definitely make the fog faster

Developer

I'll consider it as an option for future updates. 👍

The current speed was chosen to match the more slow dreadfull mood we wanted to create, but the need for speed also made me add the input queue, so I understand where you're coming from.

In case you didn't find it yourself, you can start all your moves in a turn immediately, either by clicking on all the tiles or simply dragging your mouse across the path

Submitted(+1)

ok i gave it another try, and i understood what you meant by selecting multiple tiles, it is not intuitive at all and i think you should explain it on your game page or in the game.
Also, i did not understand what can i do next in this situation:

Developer(+1)

Yeah that's fair, I like the idea of discovering it yourself, but since you aren't the first to ask about speed it might be a good thing to add.

Unfortunately, that does look like a pure stalemate, and you'll have to reset the level.

An update to this game would for sure need to update the ai to prevent these, or add a pass turn button.

It might help to be a bit more aggressive and go for some soldiers before covering the entire map, but this is for sure a design flaw on my side, thanks for pointing it out 💙 and all the feedback

Incredible game! Really fun to play and I don't know what to make better.Maybe you could make the animations faster..?

(+1)

really weird that this isn't getting more attention, because it feels like an actual fully developed demo for a commercial puzzle game.

good presentation, very clever spin on the theme and just plain fun to play. so good!!!

and yep i also didn't realize you have to cover enemies until i was almost done painting the entire map on my first round :D

Developer(+1)

Haha thanks, please do help spread the word, its always appreciated.

I do wish I had a bit more time to help onboard players better, with in game help and to tell them what the real objective is.

But super happy you've had fun with it regardless and discovered the win condition yourself =)

(+1)

oh yeah i don't actually think it's a downside. the controls are super simple, the first "map" is quite short, so even if you don't immediately know what you're supposed to do you spend that time getting used to the game's rules. then you think "what now?" and there's pretty much only one thing left to try. it's a pretty good tutorial as is :)
