Very cool game! =) It's astonishing that you managed to implement the player AI in that short time!
Nice idea found it a bit repetitive
The irony of you posting this 3 times
Nice idea found it a bit repetitive
Amazing game. It’s addicting!
Neat idea! I like the sense of progression that comes from the upgrades as well as the "player" getting better at the game. Some of the attacks feel a bit weak for boss attacks, but it makes sense since it needs to still be a bit of a challenge.
Really nice reverse boss fight! I liked the variety of attacks the boss could unlock (especially the laser), and the graphics were really eye-catching. It felt like the upgrades ran out a little too early, but otherwise the player improvement scaled with the boss upgrades pretty well. Made it to round 24!
Made it to round 8! pretty creative concept having the player play as the meteroidvania boss!
Graphically this game looks really polished even the UI looks great! The gameplay is relatively simple but easy to understand :]!
I felt like it was a little bit too easy to take damage I would have liked to have more I-Frames as the boss!
So the i frames thing I considered, and it actually *is* implemented, but the invincibility time is set to 0. I did this because most metroidvania bosses don't have i-frames, you can just spam hit them as the player.
Really good game, had my fun with beating our poor little player character over and over again, though I wish it would have been the other way around where you keep losing until you're strong enough to finally get back at the player and win the battle. This way, it felt kind of like what's the point of upgrading more and more even though I already won.
Cool idea playing as the boss and being able to get stronger each time. I see that the hero also gets stronger too.
Played on stream! See the video for timestamp.
You made me feel like a boss!! Everything I can do (especially the scream) feels like something a boss should and would do!
I think I saw on a stream that this was a spin-off from another project-- did you take a boss you had designed to be played against by a player and then reverse it? That may be why it feels so natural...
Also, the controls are unique and fun, and the upgrade system is awesome! Art looks great too :)
Excellent job!
Actually I made this game ENTIRELY because I hadn't yet made a boss for Ruptured. The only things it has in common really are the basic physics and the graphics. This was my learning experience to figure out how to make a boss, now I just gotta have it pick its own moves and implement it. You can wishlist Ruptured on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1987800/Ruptured/
There is also a discord server where you can follow the development of Ruptured: https://discord.gg/YvW2qBfj5C
Thanks for playing!
The game is well polished and the gameplay mechanic is very very fun! Nice job.
Had fun playing this! Love the upgrades and player's AI. Found some op strats so stopped playing at some point. Visual effects are really well made too. The only issue I found it was hard to figure out controls but got used to them on my third try.
Here is my playtest:
Albeit quite confusing at first, once I did my first playthrough, you get a feel for the concept and it becomes more enjoyable, would have liked a more simpler, guide at first but its alright, the visuals are quite nice and the artstyle is beautiful! the art truly gives the game a polished feel, and the color palette nice too, Idea is brilliant, and well executed, honestly this is very polished, especially for a such time constraints! while it felt a bit hard for me maybe thas because I just suckn
either way, a great entry indeed, one of the fun ones too, I would totally play something of this caliber, in a more expanded state, so great work on the concept and execution, and great creativity too, a solid game, great work!
Great game, very well executed and polished result. In fact, despite the idea is present in other game jam's entries, this is pretty unique in the supporting mechanics. My only critique is about some actions that dont feel enaugh rewading to the player, but I can see that it's very difficult to refine these details in the two days, so good job! really enjoyable.
Love the mechanic! With some improvements can become a nice card game!
Love the metroidvania twist. It's fun being the boss and stomping the hero character! The addition of rogue-lite elements also works really well to keep the encounter going. Final product is also well polished- good work! So much room for expansion too.. different attacks, enemy attacks, boss arenas... :o
Very cool game! I was amazed at how much content and polish was in this. My biggest complaint however is that you don't become invincible when charging, so it just felt not worth it and I found myself not using it at all. Although, I really do like this game!
Yeah I realized that too but I would have to expand the player AI to be stronger and have more abilities to balance that, and I didn't have time for that. Thanks for the feedback!
This is INCREDIBLE! one of the best games in this jam, I loved the concept and also the art style. It could be interesting to have like a random protagonist to face each time you start a new game, with different abilities and life points.
Amazing job and good luck! :D
Really polished and juicy, loved the concept and the visuals!
