This was really fun! A lot of my feedback is in freefang's comment, my strategy was definitely "big ball go brrrrr" There was also a lot of quiet periods that allowed me to easily become an unstoppable force. Even so, the game was extremely fun, very well done!

Had a spaceship with 50 parts attached that fired bullets in all directions. Amazing.

So this is how it feels to be a bullet hell boss! It is a fun way to combine Katamari with a space game. I especially like that the ships don't snap on neatly and just stay the way they first touch.

My only critique would be that at a certain point you just become a ball of death, which does feel nice, but reduces any decision making to "big ball goes brrr". Especially with the boss it just feels like two big balls of bullets and heath bouncing against each other, which is a shame after the build up to the boss.

This is neat. I suspect the introduction/tutorial was rushed at the end of the jam because it's in dire need of proofreading. The game could also use some balancing, as once you get big enough, it seems that nothing can touch you. The thrust controls are kind of confusing; I kept trying to use W to go up, and kept being confusing when it went another direction based on where my ship was facing. My game added a similar mechanic to this game's, but includes a small change that I think would also help in this game. In my game, I adjust the camera to center on the new center of mass of the entire player-controlled structure. It can take a lot of work to implement (I had to use quite a bit of code to make it work in Godot), but it helps improve the player experience quite a bit.

fun little game the only down side is the sightly unresponsive controls and the fact that i could just seemingly keep holding down the thruster and fire buttons without any downsides, but overall fun little game and excellent take on the theme

It was a neat little jam game, but the controls were a bit difficult. Other than that it's a solid game. Good Job!

I thought it was an interesting concept. I wish enemies would've come to me so I didn't have to search for them but other than that it seemed like a fun game :)

Really fun, the core loop of collecting ships until you become a big space katamari of death is super satisfying. Pretty easy to become unstopably overpowered but I think that just adds more to the fun :D
Small problem I had was with controls, it became hard to fly in the right direction as the ship got bigger, perhaps giving the main ship a more distinct shape with an obvious "forward" and "rear" would help make it easier to orient yourself. Great work overall!

Developer

yha I get what you mean with the forward , Im not a good artist, kinda wish I had just bought a sprite pack but was trying to do as much as I could my self

Collecting pieces for your ship is a lot of fun. I was kind of disappointed that it seemed like it dropped pieces as I collected more, I wanted to see if I could build some kind of ridiculous screen filling ship. A little unpolished (as all game jam games are I guess) but I had a lot of fun.

Developer

hummm interesting , there shouldn't be a limite to how much you can add but if you get shot bits come off

It is always fun to collect other spaceships and create a massive ship that can destroy anything in its path!
The game was really fun to play, the controls get a little weird when you combine many ships (like it starts rotating from a point other than the center)

I would also suggest to add a downside to having many ships, as otherwise there is no reason to not collect other spaceships you find. I also think adding game juice would double the fun (particles, camera shake and other good stuff)

Overall, an amazing entry!

Developer (1 edit)

there is supposed to be a down side (lower acceleration with more ships and slower fire speed with more guns) unless you get the right ships to balance it out, however for some reason your stats max out at the start of round 2 馃う

Submitted

Now that's a fun game! The ship was very uncontrollable at start but then it became a large branch killing everything in view. In the end I destroyed the flag ship in ~2 seconds. Very nice!

Love it! I had a crazy big ship with lots of guns and destroyed everything in my path. Awesome game!

The idea is cool, but in my opinion you should have taken it much further with the consequences of having more ships like slow movement, enemies getting bigger, enemy spawn rate increases, enemy moves fast. I am saying this because I was just madly collecting ships only and the enemies had no chance to come closer. Maybe you can make the ships destroy when they hit bullets of your own too.

yha annoyingly I did have some punishments which you can sort of see in the first wave but some bug I still haven't fount max's your stats at the start of the second round.

I had a pretty hard time moving the ship, but it felt the theme very nicely, the music was very good and it was pretty fun. Good job!

The movement is one of my only complains, the game is preety amazing other than that. Also the objects are way too small to see there direction or what they are, but again a really fun idea and concept, just needs a little more polish

Hey I really like the game! It reminds me of the game we made, with becoming one really big ship, just a totally different way to implement it which was awesome to play!

The game's controls are a bit floaty, as others mention. I often rammed into enemies (also because I didn't realize the movement was based on which direction you were facing).

But am I really the only person who couldn't get through this game? God, I'm not very good at this, am I?

Still, good job!

Neat game! I would really like it if the movement was irrelevant of the mouse position (W would always make you move up, for example). While I can see why it was made this way, it makes it harder to move and shoot at the same time.

With that one complaint out of the way, this game was quite fun and enjoyable!

Submitted

neat!

As other comments mentioned, there are some GameJam-Symptoms to the game, so i'd just like to point out that that background image doesn't really give me space-y vibes, it reminds me more of a color flipped microscope. That said, it is a pretty neat game and fun to play.

The controls are a bit disorienting at first, i'd keep the directions the same no matter the orientation of the ship in theese kinds of games, but you get used to it. The main mechanic is really fun and it never gets too old seeing your ship become a huge spike of other ships, Even though maybe they shouldn't shoot in the direction you picked them up at? like i have no use for a second gun that shoots slightly to the left, it would be cool to be able to choose the shoot direction once you pick a ship up. The boss battle was very easy, it didn't last long, and it took a bit for me to find it, adding a permanent indication arrow would make the players feel less lost. Overall it was fun and you had a nice idea for the mechanic :)

Developer

annoyingly there was an arrow for the boss that broke at the last second, for any one having trouble it spawns in the top left.
