It's quite the undertaking to aim for a visual novel in just 48hrs, quite impressive how far you managed to get. The art style is unique and great, provides nice clear visuals to go along with the story, the story itself is not terribly new or unique, but, it was solid enough, and fits the theme pretty well. All in all, a solid entry!

The art style really stands out in its raw form, complimented by the Black and White futuristic theme. It is a feast to the eyes despite of its neat UI. Not to mention that the idea goes along with the theme of 'Joining Together', and yeah, felt like watching a short film where you can project your own will into the outcome. The storyline concept is indeed a bit peculiar than the mainstream and I can say I would like the developer to continue exploring this for its potential, and it's not just because I enjoy making decisions for the characters.

Aside from its smooth characters development, I enjoyed the developer/author's paradoxical jokes in the game. Oh, it also plays a bit with emotion, and while the music does help with envisioning the game, I'd like it more if developer can add more music and sound effects suitable with the situations. Still, as this is a 48 hours challenge, this game did take me by surprise coz it is pretty good despite the circumstances.

Would enjoy playing an upgraded version with longer storyline and action. Good Job  Roomah Gaming (@RoomahG) :)

Developer(+1)

That's very sweet of you. There are so many compliments given in the comment!  About the upgraded version, I was actually planning to have colored artwork instead of what it is now. Though, seeing many have accepted the art style, perhaps I'm going to stick with it, who knows? I don't. To find out, stay tuned! Heheh.

I usually don't like decision-making games, but this game might have changed my mind. The plot of the story is intriguing, making me want to play it until the end. Great job!

This game is a really neat idea and you can see that there was a lot of effort put into this. The only thing to critisize was the end dialogue for me. It felt a bit long compared to the rest of the game.

But then again for a game jam this is something really cool.

Developer

Hi, thanks for playing. I'm aware about the dialog part. Supposedly, the story should be a bit longer and having more depth with some other plots. Since time is not on my side, I had to cut it short but leaving the end dialog as it is to let the readers know what's going on. It should be more of a 'show' than 'tell' though. Definitely will update that part in the future. Stay tuned!

amazing art and i love choice games so this was fun for me

Nice visual novel! Was definitely surprised. I like the artstyle you went with! It was visually distinct and I could easily read the images.

(I don't think there is a bad ending to this game? I went through multiple routes but have only found one ending so far.)

Nice work!

Developer(+1)

[ SPOILER ]
Thank you for the sweet comment! Initially, the story was planned to have two endings (and two other extra plots), but time wasn't on my side. The only noticeable difference is, if you choose to attack the guard you will be provided with the option either to hide the body or continue with the mission. If you didn't hide the body, upon leaving the building, there will be some guards outside and the team will be shot at, one of the bullets hit Sarif on his shoulder. However, this still doesn't change how the story ends, it just a bonus scene.

its a really cool take on the theme with a nice narrative, havent played/read/watched a visual novel before so dont have a basis for comparison

Submitted(+2)

Didn't expect to see a visual novel here! Your hands must be sore after doing that much art in two days! Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

My hands are fine but my mind is not! Hahah. It was a war for me and in the aftermath, I felt like it was a dream! I didn't expect I was able to finish it as it is. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

So much art in 2 days! Well done!

Submitted(+2)

I really enjoyed experiencing this visual novel. giving off a lot of Altered Carbon vibes. I love the art and the narrative was engaging

Submitted(+2)

I can't believe you were able to do all of this art in 2 days along with writing the story!  You put a lot of hard work into this, and it shows in your game.  Great job!

Developer(+1)

Guess what, even for myself, I felt like it was a dream. I doubted myself, almost giving up and now I'm thinking, did I really made that? It feels like a dream hahaha. Thanks btw!

Outstanding artwork!

Submitted(+2)

Finished it! My honest opinion was that it felt like a pretty small scale VN, people got i, got out, found out a plot twist and that was the end. It was so short that it didn't really stick to me too much. Which is especially damning for a VN because they live and die by their ability to grab the reader.

I do think that the art is actually fine though! It's simple but it definitely gets its point across fine and is no real point of disdain from me

Developer

I was worried about the art style (apart from the incomplete artwork). Initially, it was planned to be colored but I don't have enough time for that. Though fortunately, people seem to accept the rough sketch style, perhaps I will keep it that way. I also remove two plots from the game due to the time limit. Depends on how well this game performs, I will include the two missing plots and pour more depth into the game. Stay tuned!

Submitted(+2)

This is a really cool game, it's nice to see some VN's in here. Good work

Submitted(+2)

I really like the art style, the game is very polished but I wish there was more choosing options.

Developer(+1)

For now, the game provides 4 options throughout the story. I do plan to give more options in the future, that depends if the game is well received by the public. Stay tuned!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Agreed with george but I like the art and the game is polished!

Edit: also the game doesn't really fit the theme in my opinion

Submitted(+2)

I'm not too familiar with visual novels or narratives so I can't offer that much feedback, but this is a really cool art style and I haven't seen a visual novel take on the theme, so you're the first. I like the written dialogue and the artwork that goes along with the story, you've made some cool stuff here.

Also quite impressive you drew all of this in the time allotted despite not being colored, good job!

Developer

Not sure if I'm the first, although if I were to be honest with you, it's not really the style I wanted but fortunately, people seem to accept it! Hah maybe if I continue with this project, I will let the art style stay!

Submitted(+1)

I would like a little more 'Show' than 'Tell' but the story is good and can evolve to something even better. Good job!

Developer(+2)

Hi, thank you for playing! I can understand the thing about 'show' and 'tell'. Tbh, there were many things that I want to 'show' but as you can see from the UI and incomplete artwork - I did my best to finish the game within the time limit. Perhaps after the jam has ended, I will provide more depth and a much more polished game! Stay tuned!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah I completely understand that's why I believe it has great potential. Good luck on the next steps!

Submitted(+2)

Quite an enjoyable game :)

Even a lot of the placeholder art was good. Liked the world it built (even if I'm more a 'who cares if we're cyborgs' type when it comes to these types of stories) and liked the little bit of branching. Can't wait to see it fleshed out more!
