this was really nice to play. Great story and the music fit as well. Well done!

For better highlighting the resulting background image you could slowly zoom out, so the player can see the whole picture before the scene fades to black.

Yeah I agree it was figured out after submitting though. Thanks for playing glad you liked it 😊

@GeorgeKle top-notch story, very good narration, the voice acting was really good, worth playing game :)

This is beautiful game, beautiful narration. I think I saw it yesterday on stream and it was definitely underrated. Guess such streams are not for such type of games when you should sit and listen, feel the atmosphere.

If you allow me, maybe I can make a suggestion to for example change the platforms'  art and maybe try to make it more blended to the background pictures. I know that they should be clearly visible, but i feel people might not give proper attention to the background.
Also, maybe you can think of making levels even more corresponding to the narration. I don't compare games, but maybe think of how Braid's levels were having some hidden meaning.

Well, this is just for future if you are going to develop it more (i think it's worth it), don't take it as complaint:)

You are absolutely right, about everything. The game will not progress sadly as the team felt it should stay as is. Anyway thank you for playing and we're glad you like it :D

well, sadly

Wow. Okay, the art needs some work and the gameplay made me struggle sometimes, I ended up playing it to the end even though because the story really caught my attention. The voice acting is great and the story is captivating, it hits hard in me given the moment in life I'm living right now so I'm not even able to talk about plot points (fuck those two people though) but it's awesome, great work. I hope you create more experiences like this, your writing style really draws attention, congrats.

Thank you very much for your words and feedback, playing your game you did really good work with the narrative too!

Submitted(+1)

Aw man, it made me feel so... I wanted them both to just really sit, think, and talk and maybe be friends instead of being a trainwreck together.  T_T
But anyway yeah, wonderful music, very interesting style - I did find that the dark room with the giant mural (compared to the character) was difficult for me to "see" and appreciate the art, but I did appreciate it was in the ending credits.
I see you've already discussed how the technical mechanics weren't really your focus here, so I'll just note the same as others that the platforming didn't seem to mesh very well with the narrative generally.  But I did very much want to mention that you might want to check out GMTK's video that talks about subtitles, because you might want to bake that in differently if you decide to update it later.  ^_^
Anyway thank you for the experience!  Cheers.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I agree about the subtitles, the idea was to not even be there, but it's better to have them. It's a game jam game you can't have all that are described in the video. Thanks for playing and I'm glad you got the feeling :D

Saw this on the GMTK Stream and saw that Mark hardly gave it a chance, so I knew I had to seek it out.

Amazing narrative, great voice acting.  Platforming sections could use some improvement, don't seem to fit with the rest.  The jigsaw puzzles combined with the melancholy narrative remind me of Braid.  I feel like the last line of the game gives a thematic hook that would be really great if linked with gameplay somehow.

Let's drive this to the top 100 so Mark has to play it all the way through. :)

Wow thanks a lot for the praise, we're really glad it gave you that feel :D

This is truly amazing a story really worth the time and voice acting is just super amazing, It hooked me up with the game instantly.....

I loved it all the way from sound design to the different and unique art style it is truly amazing...

To be honest, didn't expect this much from a jam game 😅

Developer(+2)

We're thrilled that it touched you, thanks a lot for your kind words :D

The narration of this game sounds so great and the music is very nice. I also really liked the art style. In terms of technical stuff, sometimes the character gets stuck on the edge of platforms.

Developer

Thank you very much, we were going for the aesthetics, the mechanics are pretty simple. Thanks for playing! :D
