This game has the potential to be just as engaging as Papers Please! Do a full release!

I like how simple but engaging the idea is. I think the concept could be developed further and even expanded with eardoping conversation, taking notes on the callers, who they are, who they talk to etc.. There is a lot of potential there.

Loved everything about this game except the font. It was pretty, but I had a hard time distinguishing between 0 and 8 in the numbers. Really enjoyed the focus on the narrative while doing the mundane task of connecting people.

My antivirus didn't like this game, and after (spoilers if someone else is reading this comment and hasn't played it yet) the spy told me to put them through to some number the game softlocked and no lights turned on, but other than that, I loved it.

I honestly have nothing to say that people haven't already said before: it reminds me of Papers Please (in a good way!) and some ambiance sounds would've been nice.

Amazing job!

As others have said, I'm getting some strong Papers Please vibes, and that is not a bad thing. I do wish there was more here and some kind of either simple music or other ambient sounds to fill the silence. I could see a interesting narrative focused version of this as a full game. Great job in execution of your idea.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback -- wish I had more time to flesh the game out more for the jam and polish it up

Great idea, very cool game. Reminds me of Papers Please. Would love to play a longer version of this.

Looks really cool, wish there was some authentic background music to highlight the mood here. Also i would've liked to see more story in this game.

Strangely therapeutic. I personally think this would make a very good short but full game if you added significantly more story and had parallel events that where you had to remember numbers. Anyway, well done.

They say people have a harder time remembering numbers and this game is living proof! Love the concept, and I can see myself getting lost in a full version of the game haha

Glad you liked the game, thanks for playing!

Developer

I was a little confused on how to play.

Developer

Sorry about that, some basic instructions to get you started are on the game's page : Hello, Operator by William Ha (itch.io)
There's a small tutorial/explainer in the game once you connect the flashing jack to the jack labelled "IN"

This is really cool! Super unique take on the theme. I can definitely see the papers please inspiration. I just wish it had music. I hope to see this fleshed out! Great job!

This was fun! I can't tell if it's supposed to end with me connecting the rebel (?) guy to the general or not lol

I had too much fun with the jacks. i'm not operator material lol

Developer(+1)

Haha, thanks for playing

re: the spy, you can either complete the call by connecting the jacks, or you can unplug/delete the cord connected to the spy for different dialogue
