How does your game fit the theme?
You are a gelatinous cube joined with an adventurer, using the cube's absorption powers and the adventurer's grappling hook. And a lot of the mechanics of the game were inspired by joints also: the rope mechanic is basically joining you with the walls, the main character itself is a bunch of spring joints that move together, and the ammo of your propulsion are the bones of the enemies that joined you. One last thing: aim and movement are joined together as a mechanic, giving an extra degree of difficulty.

I think the look of the game is really strong but the controls definitely could be tighter. Even if it was in the name of the theme I think tying movement and the grapple together, at least in its current state makes the game tremendously frustrating to control. Not having the grapple aim be on something quick and snappy to control like the actual mouse movement as well makes split second adjustments very hard to make.
Very fun idea! i think the grapple is hard to control though...
Quite fun, but hard to control. I also think the springs could be a little more obvious, at first I thought the beginning was quite difficult until I accidentally landed on the spring!
The game looks great, too, by the way. Great job!
If you get a chance to check out my game, that'd be appreciated! :)
I think it's quite fun, just extremely difficult to control, the way you grappe should point towards the mouse but it doesn't
Solid game but very difficult controls.
A really nice aesthetic, but as others have mentioned the controls are really hard to get to grips with, and when grappled it feels like the resistance to swiniging when not pressing buttons is rather high making it hard to get a good "thwip and release" feel
Really cool game! I love the upgrades at the checkpoints. The physics are a tiny bit janky but understandable and part of the fun. If I had to nitpick anything, I'd say it's a bit hard to control.
Super fun and great polish! Love the jelly feel to the cube. I agree with others have said regarding the grappling hook controls, but I understand why you chose to join together the movement and aiming controls to fit the theme.
The game is really fun to play! The cube's squishing was really satisfying, and the overall art was great too!
The game did lag a bit when I pressed the Enter key to restart.
I would suggest to make the grappling gun's aiming a little better, maybe use the mouse to aim the gun as it was already mentioned in the comments (but I see that you decided to use AD keys to bind the aim and movement keys together to fit the theme).
Overall an awesome game!
Absolutely amazing game! Really loved it, my time was 426, I kept getting stuck in the part with the lava. Since you shoot with the mouse button, it might have been better to make that how you aim as well. I liked the momentum the cube had and the whole game was pretty fun! I would love to see this fleshed out into a full game! Wonderful job!
I absolutely love this game. It reminds me of some addicting flash platforming games I used to play like Spewer or Give Up Robot. The art is spot on! I wish I had the skill to make something this beautiful. The feedback of the cube’s squishy animation makes it really satisfying just moving and jumping around. The controls feel a bit tricky as others have said, but it was still a fun experience. I hope to see this really take off in its popularity. Good job!
Wow, that submission was really good, nice job!
You did really great with this game. The music, art, and just overall aesthetic are really well done. Having the cube being gelatinous really expresses the character well. I wasn't too sure about the game fitting the theme, but crossing and or combining mechanics (to "join together") did cross my mind. My main feedback would be to work on the controls a bit more. The rope felt a bit challenging to use. I believe if the rope controls were either more sensitive or switched to purely by mouse, it may work better. You could also allow the player to decide the sensitivity and or the controls.
I also did face a bug where the player got stuck on a lava/fire area where the player couldn't move or escape, and I had to wait until I died.
But overall, again really nice job.
This was a very well made submission. The physics feel really fun to control, and the jelly-cube had some very satisfying movement (especially accompanied with the sounds). The graphics are really stunning, and I'm surprised you managed to create all that in the time allotted. You had a very well integrated tutorial too. The grappling mechanic, though a common take on the theme, is very well polished here and it was very fun to grapple onto things.
A little note on the grappling though, I found the controls a little bit difficult to use. I think it would be much better if you aimed with your mouse, it's what I'm used to and I think that the WASD keys should be reserved for the jelly's movement. The propulsion was a cool mechanic, though I did get a bit confused on how to use it first, as when I used it I just saw some sort of bullet on the ground; you kind of need to spam it in order to create momentum to propel. It would be nicer for the propulsion to immediately propel the jelly.
I really liked this submission, it's extremely well polished. I would love to see you expand on this one post-jam!
Love you jelly square! It is really cute to play. I know the game is meant to be challenging, the the shooting aim are linked with movement feels a little frustrating. Two mechanics joined together fit the theme very well, good job!
Love the aesthetic and overall design, and the way the cube needs to jump to really move was great. I agree with some others that tying aiming and left/right movement felt clunky, and I'm confused why mouse clicking was picked to fire the grappling hook if the actual mouse cursor isn't used? Still had fun though :)
good!
A clunky slime looks good. The rope control must take a while to be understandable. I give it 8/10
The art is soo good! And the game has some intersting mechanics. I find it a bit hard to control tho, or maybe am just bad xD
Nice game!
Amazing game!!, I loved the music + the pixel art good job 👏👏
