I love the idea. it's a cool idea - i didnt quite understand what i was doing at first but it was still really cool. I wish i had a little more control like them dropping like tetris blocks and i could go around overhanging blocks!
As a fellow Pico-8 user I really appreciated how great the graphics looked, especially with the fire effect, great job!
Very cool concept. I enjoyed playing your game and the art style is well done.
I don't know what I'm doing, all I know is that it feels too fun. Neat procedurally generated towers and I could watch pixel people getting burnt all day long.
I had a hard time getting the fire to show, I just build allot of houses. not sure why it didn't work for me like it did in those GIFS. otherwise love the SFX and art style! good stuff
The fire is pretty nicely animated, and the game overall has a pretty nice feel. I just wish I understood the mechanics a bit more. I was maxed out at happiness pretty much entirely after one fire, and then just built upward! The ticker text didn't really help there.
This game is really wonderful, feels like the first sim city, great work
I kinda left a huge hole on the sides and middle... The game is very interesting and beautifully made.
it is not really I game, but I liked it either way! :) Would have some kind of ending, maybe a bad (burn stuff down) or a happy(build great).
Love the look of it and it's an original idea (Not burning down your house simulator) but it seemed fairly easy to keep everyone happy by building left to right at a reasonable pace. I found it hard to get a fire going which is a shame as I wanted to see something burn.
At first, I was not sure of the cause of the fires. Once I managed to avoid them starting, my 'happiness' rating stayed at 100 very easily, and i quickly filled the whole screen, so that no more blocks could be added. A better balanced difficulty arc, with an easy start, and building difficulty, would make this more fun. A defined goal would also be nice (I thought there may be a win state upon reaching the top of the screen with no fires, for example). I liked the consistent, charming visual style and sfx, but some music would have been great. The comments and tips at the bottom are a nice touch.
The game has decent audio and visuals and looks very clean, however I wish had had more of an understanding of the impact of my block placement.
Thanks for comment, I will add more detail.
I am not entirely sure how the game really is supposed to be played, but it looks nice nonetheless.
