Easily one of the best games I've played so far! I'm also a sucker for these kinds of games so I got quite a few kicks out of it!

The game feels great and looks great too! Can't ask for a better combo!

My only issue would be that the hatches block your movement and are really hard to see sometimes. If it was a box there then sure, but these hatches that come up to your ankle completely stops you dead.

Feel free to try mine out as well and leave your own 2 cents! It certainly not as clean as your's though!

Visually impressive, the music and the bleeding mechanic to push the player forward really works well forcing you to complete the entire level in one go, knowing the pattern of the enemies to maximize the movement and the range of the dash mechanic.

The columns get in the way and make more difficult to track enemies and player, maybe lowered them? Or a shader to show them in overlay could also work unless those are just another difficulty to overcome.

I have only one question: I've killed the boss and I've not seen a victory sign, then I completed the entire level killing everyone assuming than that was the challenge, still nothing, there is a method to know if the level is clear?
Unless the ultimate meaning is that this is the samurai personal inferno, impossible to beat XD

You're right about columns, sometimes it's hard to see something behind them.

What about ending - it's a philosophical question. You've killed your rival, there is no enemies left, but you still suffering from bleeding and will die soon. It's a metaphor that every revenge doesn't change your life at all - it will just make you and other people suffer even more. Revenge - is worthless. No fancy endings, no credits, no applauds. That's the point.

We just don't have time to make proper ending

Impressive to achieve this in just two days!

I liked the game, it was really fun and impressive! However, it feels only loosely related to the jam's theme, at least in terms of player experience (I know he has just one hand, but this doesn't really translate into "having only one" of a gameplay element, rather it just means your health decreases and you regenerate it by killing)

Amazing gameplay and breathtaking VFX!

Can't run the game, my pc just plays warning sound and nothing hapens, and there's no error message :( Brand-new laptop with win10.

Damn, I feel sorry for that! I can't upload different build, but if you want, I can make a separate build for you and send it to you. I just need to know your specs

I have Win10 with Intel core  i3 7th Gen, there's 8 GB or RAM and integrated "Intel HD Graphics 620" videocard, max supported DirectX is 11th. As far as I know you (or at least one of your teammates) are from Russia. If it is so, you can find me in VK : vk.com/mvgreen  and send your build there:)

So cool!!! Great job!

Felt nice and juicy to play, also the graphics are nice.

The balance between regaining energy and losing it felt about right. Hoewever, once you have the flow it's pretty easy though.

More enemies and a bit of randomization would be cool. Also the theme "one handed" didn't really develop during play. it would matter if the samurai is one handed or not.

This was pretty fun! Reminds me a little bit of the Jedi characters from Battlefront II (no, the other one) where you have to keep killing enemies as your health runs out. The dash attack feels really good - although binding it to the mouse button is weird given that the mouse doesn't play into the aiming at all. I keep trying to move my mouse in the direction I want to go instead of starting to run in that direction.

I wish the one-handed bit played into the gameplay a bit more - the "only one" theme isn't very prominent.

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks a lot!

Yeah, you totally true! We would like to be more "only one"-theme related, but only managed to do with this.

We actually have control scheme for dash in mouse direction, but we didn't have time for drawing mouse cursor and create settings menu, where we can change default controls.
