Cool game!  I walked away from it for a bit and kept singing the music.  :)  I liked how you had the gravity change on the jumps to pull the player steeply down, and all of the particle stuff you did was super well done too.  I'm gonna have to learn how to do that!  Great little game, I finished it, tho I was hoping for a boss fight!

Developer

Wow, that's amazing feedback! Thank you so much, this has made my day! :D

Thanks too for picking up on the small details like the jumping and particles - I put way too much time into them but I'm glad they had some effect, haha! Didn't have too much more motivation, energy, and time for a boss fight, but that definitely would be a cool idea - thanks! :D

Super chill relaxing platformer that i can enjoy! I think you could go even further with this if you wanted and maybe out of the Gameboy realm to give you some more chill vibes. not for this jam but something to consider if you wanted to go more with this, if I had really soothing mellow music like you have less "harsh 8bit" and more 128bit on the ears, you could have a really nice chill winter platforming style game that would work out this winter haha.

nice game!

Hehe, I made it ^^
That was a very nice game, great job. As I was playing the game, I watched your making of video, it was very nice to see how you created your game. The musics were pretty good by the way ^^

If I had to find a flaw in your game, I'd say I find that the character is a little slow.

Bravo, for having done all of this in solo, I'm kinda jealous x)

Developer

Wow, you made it to the end! :DDD That's incredible, thank you so much!

Thank you also for watching the video and also your feedback - this is all really helpful in my journey to become a better game dev. Thanks heaps! :D

Wow! It is probably the most atmospheric game I've seen in this jam. Nice color palette - I'm getting cold just by looking at it :)

The platform physics is really well balanced - on pair with Celeste and other iconic platformers. Music is nice (although, not very gameboy-ish ;) )And you even managed to put in a backstory!

Good job!

On improvements, I'd add a full-screen button with ability to zoom the view. Controls are fine, but I would prefer more conventional layout... Maybe Arrows + Space to jump and WASD + Right shift to jump. But this one is totally subjective...

Also, for some reason the top panel is messed up in my browser (Chrome 83 + macOS 10.15). The text is shifted and scaled into unreadable form :(

Wow, thanks for all your feedback! This is all greatly appreciated, thank you! :D Let me try and get through this bit-by-bit!

Thank you for the colour palette comment - I'm glad it worked! And yes, I was definitely going for a Celeste type of feel, so I'm glad you picked up on it! Thanks also for noticing the physics balance (I'm glad I got that right, phew), and yeah the music wasn't as gameboy-ish as I liked, but thanks! Also the backstory wasn't a whole lot, haha, I just thought it was a good tie in to the many adventure elements found commonly in gameboy-style games!

I've looked into some fullscreen stuff already, so thanks for that too! And yeah, I do feel the controls are a bit wack too, I just wanted to stick as closely as possible to the gameboy control panel with a D-Pad and 2 other buttons, but thanks! :D

Sorry that the UI didn't work - that reeeally isn't my strong suit. Thanks for mentioning it though, I'll try and find a fix! :D
