great music and sprites! definitely nailed that Game Boy vibe. i really love this concept! you brought in the space theme in more than one way. seems like a fully flesh-out game. well done!

it took me a minute to get used to the tank-like controls and using the tractor beam, but everything controlled nicely once i figured it out. i think i would have enjoyed playing more, but i kept bumping into trash and it would just start flying away faster than i could catch it lol.

also it felt like a lot of work to get one piece of trash at a time and then bring it back to the compactor. i’m not sure if you are able to get more than one at a time, but it makes me wonder if being able to collect many pieces in one go would be more fun. maybe there would be a limited cargo space, but enough to get a few dozen pieces. then you could play a short round of tetris when you get back to the compactor.

Very nice game, I love how you are supposed to play a Tetris section in order to use the compactor (although it would have been nice if we could get more points for deleting multiple lines of waste simultaneously). The main menu got a little glitchy after I finished the run (I wasn't able to see what menu was currently selected, but it was fun anyway. Nice little arcade game!

Cool take on the theme! Took me a minute to figure out exactly what I was supposed to do but once I did, it was quite a lot of fun running around and bringing back junk. Unfortunately the game froze on me and I wasn't able to complete it but still had a lot of fun while I could. I had a car go into the scrap compactor and while I was trying to rotate it to fit into a long narrow spot and it seemed to clip outside the compactor a bit and that caused it to freeze.

That was really fun! The art and soundtrack are pleasant, and the gameplay is addictive. The arcade and puzzle elements mix well.

My main criticism is that, because of how long it takes to retrieve a piece, large pieces are much more valuable than small pieces. Clearing lines is the best way to get score, and clearing lines is limited by the amount of blocks you have, so the #1 priority became shoving as many blocks of material into the compactor as possible, meaning I was mostly utilizing my keyboard reflexes and deprioritizing 1-blocks, since even taking them back took more time per-block than just finding a larger piece nearby.

While I do think the time & distance aspect of the game is good and creates an important scarcity, I think the amount of 1-block and 2-block pieces should've been increased slightly. Having more small pieces would decrease the massive incentive to shop around for those 3-block and 4-block pieces.

All-in-all though, fantastic! Great work!

Nice game!

An interesting concept. Unfortunately I didn't manage to fill the space correctly to see if they actually compact. There are some issues where with packing everything in, but generally I found it good.

* or if you fill a line they compact together? I didn't get that. There where some stuff actually overlapping and disappearing. I thought at first that the same objects would "collapse" on one another but I guess not.

Its a very unique idea and i really like the graphics

Cool game. I like the Tetris style trash compactor. Gives the game a twist. The music is great. and the graphics feel very Game Boy. Excellent entry!

Neat little game, very interesting idea of having the player choose what pieces go next into the 'tetris-style' trash compactor! It makes the game unique and serves as a double meaning for the space theme. Some critiques though, the gameplay could benefit from being faster, whether it be a faster ship or allowing multiple pieces to be carried, etc. The camera also seems to be a little wonky, every time the ship turns everything else also shifts a bit and it makes it look off. Also, not a critique but a bug: the game seems to break after the first playthrough.

I set out to beat the "Robert" guy you mentioned with 980 points, and I succeeded - I managed to get 1000 points!

This is solely because somehow, I got a huge lucky break and when I started the game, a satellite spawned inside the trash compactor. The timer didn't even have time to start, it was at 0 until I placed the trash down.

I had to check the description to see what button used the tractor beam, so I couldn't go in as blind as I prefer, but the game was quite easy to pick up and understand and it's fun enough that I can see people getting quite competitive, trying to get the highest score. Nice job! The audio felt a little bit harsh on the ears, but I got used to it ... though I did also find some bugs.

1: If you're boosting while going into the trash compactor, the boost sound keeps playing the entire time you place down your trash. It was a pain to listen to, so I kept resolving to stop boosting before I got to the compactor next time, but I kept doing it anyway...
2: After you play it once, the main menu stops visibly responding to input. Trying to play again breaks the game completely, as you're unable to move and the timer won't go down.
3: You can stack garbage inside other garbage! You can even stack it outside the compactor, though that softlocks you.

Fun, easy to play, just I'd make the speed of the junk you accidentally bumped a bit less :)

Neat gameplay 🥰! The tetris-like part of it creates some super nice emergent behavior on selecting what should be the next piece of trash to pick up!

Cool graphics, The scrap collector looks awesome. :)

Two games in one, nice :)

I think we started up with the same idea: cleaning space. But on our side we stopped at dodging others instead of cleaning in the end ^^

NICE DONE, the first part it was ok, but when i put the scrap on the place to fit there it turns the table a lot!!! the only think about the game that can be better is the turn of the ship, but overall its a great game.

Thanks so much! :^)

A lot of fun! Love the way you traverse, and the art looks great! Really fits the GB aesthetic well :) Also really like how bumping into things makes them move at constant rates, feels very spacey!

Thank you! :D

Neat gameplay mechanic! I love your palette and the pixel art is amazing.   It isn't as addictive as tetris but it is fun.  Great job!

Thanks so much for playing!

Cool idea to basically choose the tetris-blocks you want to use yourself. It was really fun, if a bit slow. I then dropped an object into the trash-compactor with a part sticking outside the bounds and the game froze.

I think this has potential, though.

Thanks so much for playing! Yeah, there are some weird edge case bugs in the actual scrap compactor part of the game. Glad you like the idea though!

The graphics are nice. The gameplay was dull to me, but that's probably just my personal preferences. The first time through, I couldn't find out how to get to the trash compactor, but after re-reading 'How to Play', it was clear. After finishing a game and going back to the main menu, the buttons wouldn't pop out. They still worked, just no visual feedback on what button you're currently on. The mini map was super helpful.

Thanks for sharing your game!

Thanks for playing! I thought I had finally squashed that weird animation bug on the buttons. Makes no sense why they don't animate when you return to the main menu. If we had more time, I would have looked more into it, but the bug stopped happening for me.
