Took a while to realize what shifting time meant. Well done. May be better that when we die, we repeat the current failed level rather than start from beginning after the 3 lives.
The health and death mechanic is not final! But since you restart levels when you still have lives just restarting the same level again at 0 lives would have no meaning...
Enjoyed the game, it's a nice platformer and the time switching mechanic works well. One thing I would suggest is I fell off the end of platforms quite a bit when I was intending to jump at the last second, but mistimed it. Perhaps implementing a "coyote time" mechanic to give a few frames margin of error when jumping after falling off the edge of a platform would make things feel a bit better. Good game though!
Yes coyote time is something I have to implement good call!
I really liked this one! The graphics reminded me of old 90s PC platformer / puzzlers - very nice.
As far as level design went that was also very kind to the player, there's a lot of scope to be mean when making the first dimension switch on a level, so I appreciate you avoiding that.
A funky tune is the only thing I could think of to complete the experience. Otherwise, an excellent job.
I wanted the player to be able to make his own checkpoints and therefore swap in the beginning of each map
Thank you very much for your feedback!
One of the best games I played in this jam. I really liked the idea, the use of assets, and theme is great but It took me a second to understand how to swich dimensions. Anyway, was happy to play it!
Thank you so much for your comment! I am so happy that you liked it!
I had already made assets for textboxes on screen as a little tutorial/help but I had no time to implement them....
Really nice idea and level design. I'd maybe change the controls as E feels awkward to use when also pressing D+SPACE, for example (but that might just be me!). Great job!
Thank you very much for your feedback!
I was thinking on implementing a better weapon so you can shoot where you want and change the time swap on RMB...but I would need to test if that is better
Interesting looking game, couldn't find the button to go through the portal at the end though... pressed every button on my keyboard once reaching the portal but nothing would clear the level
I have a bug: when you touch the end door it takes 1 sec so load the next level and if you timeswap in that second you get softlocked - I have a mention of it in the description
Fun and simple platform game, well done! :)
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed it
Looks really good. I would limit the bullet or put a cooldown there.
When you switch time directly after entering the portal, the new level doesnt start and you're stuck.
Limiting bullets is a good idea^^ I know now that it can also break my game if there are too many bullets
I know about the softlock - its mentioned in the description but thank you anyway for reminding me
I think the idea and mechanics are really smart and fun! The sounds however are a bit annoying but that's fine, but I truly loved the idea of viewing what happened in the other dimension :P
Thank you very much!
The audio is not final since I have not implemented a menu where you can controll the audio levels and music is also missing
Real nice work! I think your game handles the platforming mechanics well, and the dimension-switching puzzles were great!
My only critique would be the sounds. Maybe this didn't bother most people, but I don't love how a lot of the sound effects would pan full left ear or full right ear. It just felt odd and a little annoying for me, but the sounds themselves were good. Just needs a little music!
Well done.
I know that audio is an issue - ran out of time and before my game is completly silent I just threw them in last second
i enjoyed my time playing, i feel that it is well designed and a good implementation of the theme. Good game!
Noice!
Very good implementation of the theme, i like that in another timeline all the ladders are broken xD level design is pretty cool too! Nice job!
A very nice platformer. The time-shifting between now and then is a cool concept. Good job executing that!
Neat little platformer with a cool mechanic. I was originally using wasd for movement which made it really hard to swap time move to the right and jump all at the same time. I did discover that you can use the arrow keys instead and that solved my only real criticism. Good level design and difficulty without being unfair. Nice work!
Fun little puzzle platformer, liked the time switching mechanic. Wish it was a touch more forgiving when switching. You might want to add in a prompt on the first level to press E to time switch for the people who don't read the instructions below the game. I hope you add some more levels and puzzles!
Nice level design! You may want to add one enemy at the first level, so the player has something to shoot at. Also, in the 3rd level, is it possible to make that jump onto the red diamond at the very beginning?
yep and up top there is a purple diamond as well
For the enemy I thought about it but I didn't want to overwhelm the player with everything all at once
Very nice take on the time shifting mechanic. The mechanic is well implemented and easy to use. I wish there was a soundtrack in the back to help set the mood, but this was fun!
A fun, solid platformer! The art style was cute and I found the mechanic very intuitive, but what I appreciated most was that you took the time to balance the controls. The player move/jump speed felt responsive and viscerally right. (I just wish the E wasn't right next to the W, cuz I accidentally switched dimensions and killed myself a number of times.)
I will say that I really missed having music, and either that or some sort of background ambience would be helpful in creating a mood. I will also second some of the other comments and say that the enemies don't seem to pose much of a threat and can easily be avoided. Still, a well though-out and pretty polished platformer, nicely done!
thank you for your comment - do you think right click would be better for time swap? I just thought w you only need for climbing ladders and since all ladders are broken in the other time you dont switch time at that moment anyway.
Yes enemys need still work they are more or less placeholders and music I didn't find anything thats free but works well in two different times so I cut it for time
But I am very happy that you like the controls because I don't like games with bad controls either^^so that was a focus of mine - that and the art
Actually yeah, for myself personally right click might have been better. Especially if the enemies become more of a thing and I need to shoot more often, and therefore keep my hand on the mouse.
Totally, I understand re: time constraints. But you succeeded with the controls and the art!
Thank you! I just played yours and left a comment
great mechanics and solid 2d artwork :)
