Yes, a significant number of graphics and sound assets. From: Kenney (Kenney.nl), for his countless free assets, including sprites, sounds and fonts used all over this game! Itch.io for making all this possible, including sharing a large asset library. Thank you to Robert Brooks aka gamedeveloperstudio for a number of beautiful sprites, including the aircraft; and to Vnitti for the pretty parallax background images. Nicolae (Xelu) Berbece of "Those Awesome Guys" for some really professional keyboard and mouse images. OpenGameArt for sharing a wealth of freely available resources. Thank you to Vasiliy Edomin for making and sharing the beautiful yellow helicopter that is this game's main character. Unity Technologies, who puts out a lot of free assets in addition to the free (with conditions) and still awesome game engine! Sonniss Professional Sound Libraries compiles a huge bundle of freely usable sound samples for GDC where many different sound studios provide quality content. Thank you to them and to SoundMorph, GameMaster Audio, Shapeforms Audio and BluezoneCorp for sharing quality audio files. Gregor Quendel's nice music clips provide the music for the game ("Cinematic Trailer Music - Collection" at Unity Asset Store). FreeSound for being a great resource for sound effects. Thank you to Kyles and Antumdeluge. Filmcow for providing a big library of recorded and processed sounds of really good quality. Pixabay, mostly known for their large collection of freely downloadable photographs, for also having a sizable sound library. Thank you for a number of explosion sounds (no username was available).

LOVE the big meaty satisfying sound effects. Excellent decision! The explosions are great too. Definite retro heli action game vibes.
Excellent screen shake as well. You're really good at adding visceral game feel.
Really impressed with your detailed credits! You made this solo?! Wow, I'm shocked you had the time to put that all together!
Great entry, well done.
Hi and thank you for the praise. These fancy effects are quite a lot easier than I think most people know :)
Very fun game and I love the idea you had going on!
Thank you for the kind words!
Nice game. The projectiles feels a little bit weird how they fly. But makes fun :3
Thank you! Yes the projectiles get a bit confused by the side scrolling movement. Glad you liked :)
Great arcady game!
Thank you!
Very nostalgic game! I like the arcade-like gameplay. Powerups were a nice touch and the minmap is very helpful! Great job!
Thank you for the praise! Yes I like old arcade games. :)
The game has pleasant sounds. However, the bullet trajectory changes are a bit concerning. The explosions are simply superb
Please try my game
Hi and thanks for the kind words :) Yes there is some funky bullet movement going on that I’ll have to address going forward.
Perhaps the bullet's trajectory is tied to a specific point, and when the hero moves, the point changes along with the hero, resulting in a change in the bullet's flight. Maybe it's worth breaking the connection with the parent after the shot?
The bullets are physical (Rigidbody2d) and follows a straight line in the game world independent of the helicopter. The problem is partially the trail render and that in a side-scroller like this you stand still and everything else moves towards you.
Graphics looked great. It may sound odd, but I really liked the font you used. The music was perfect and the sound fit well too. Altogether a great game! Oh, and I loved the Douglas Adams reference. :) This was a really solid submission! Incredible job!
Wow thanks for the praise. You are very kind. The font is one of Kenney’s and the colors were actually inspired from a Gamedev.tv 2D tutorial. Always happy to meet a fellow Douglas Adams fan :)
Hi, congrats on your game! :) Excellent game, it gave me a strong sense of nostalgia for some games with the same theme back in the 90s.
If you have some spare time, please try out my game. It's a classic space shooter from the 80s but with a personal touch. Please leave your honest feedback.
Thank you! As it were, I have already played your game, and I’ll probably do it again in the future. Though I think I need to get a good controller first. Very nice!
Very nice game. Gave me 90th. vibes. A little more variation would hae been nice, but i realy enjoyd it. Also good use of the art. I think something is up with your code for determining speed and bomb-drops. It felt a little off. otherwise: Well done! Keep it up! :)
Thank you and thanks for the encouragement! Yes, it could do with more content and bug fixes, but, you know, gamejam. The issue with movement is that you are (more or less) standing still and the world is moving towards you at different speeds. So even if your projectiles move in straight lines they look “wrong” compared to environment.
Simple game, but with a very satisfying gameplay. I think part of the reason is the sound. It feels good to fire that gattling! Good job.
Thank you for the kind words :) I was really going back and forth on the gatling sound, bringing in several different sound files and not being happy with them. I ended up with “MP5_Burst - Shot - Short - Urban_Exterior” from SoundMorph via Sonniss’ free GDC pack. Yes, it’s really a submachine gun sound. Since it’s the sound you will hear all game it is important that it is not too sharp, unobtrusive yet packs a satisfying punch. I think it helps that I randomly vary its pitch also.
This was super fun! great job!
Thank you. I am really glad you liked it :)
Fun game with some nice meaty effects! The radar in the corner was super handy too, well implemented!
Thank you! It’s surprisingly easy to add a good minimap/radar in Unity. Glad you liked.
"an unreasonable load of heavy weapons and ammunition" LOL. I made it to wave 3 I think. Fun game I kept trying to shoot behind me or swoop down to hit the powerups that didn't usually work out for me.
Thanks a lot for the praise! glad you liked it. well done!
uff that hit very nicely in my childhood. Tnx for that. The sound effects are very on point. Good job :)
thank you for the praise my friend :) yes it is a very nostalgic game. I was well served by the free GDC sound samples from Sonniss!
Damn kick in my nostalgia - very well done mate
Thank you so much my friend! Really appreciate it.
Good job! This was a fun take on this type of game, nice that there is support for controller as well, but i didnt find bombs anywhere on the controller though.
Thank you for great feedback! Yes Unity’s “new” inputsystem gives some controller support out of the box. Alas, I don’t have a controller yet so I can’t do it properly.
This is a fun frantic game. It does take me back to the 1980's - 1990's arcade days. I loved the chopper playing. I felt like the Gatling and missiles were very similar. I think you should make them a bit more different to make me feel like the I am getting a big bang for using the more special ammo. All in All very good game.
Hey thanks for the kind words :) Glad you liked it. Missiles are guided towards the enemy that is the closest to the mouse cursor when you fire. It can even hit enemies behind you. The gatling gun fires in a straight line towards mouse cursor position. But maybe missiles should do more damage to really make them different!
106K !
Nice addictive game, its simple but very fun. It has the same feel like old games I used to play.
Great job.
That’s kind of you to say. Very glad you liked :)
had a blast blowing things up :) loved the death/explosion animation! good job
Thank you! I am glad you liked playing it. The explosions are made from Kenney’s excellent sprites.
Too much fun! I love this kind of game, I liked your weapon systems, the bombs, it played well, good mechanics, lots of fun.
I am really glad to hear that :) Thank you for the praise!
