Took me a long time to figure out the mechanics, but they are pretty interesting once you get the hang of them. I didn't get too far because I'm bad at platformers, but wish I could have seen this twist alluded to in the comments. Love a good twist. If anyone played this game and streamed it, please share the link so I can see the parts I didn't get to~
Really cool game! I liked the slider mechanics. The twist really surprised me and was a super cool addition! Great job! :D
Original gameplay and unexpected switch before the end! I was really surprised. Thanks for the experience!
Wow totally unexpected what happened in the middle. The slider mechanics were already an interesting gameplay, but shifting to 3d surprised me😯. The overall concept is interesting and the result well achieved. Good job 🙌
Nice little hard platfomer. And trust me i know hard platformers :D
Super difficult, but once you get a hang of it, it's a bit more fun. I know there's something I'm missing cause of some comments below and the way the camera is moving at certain points, but I'm also horrible at platformers and wasn't able to reach the secret portion of the level.
Very interesting mechanics and I think with a few tweaks this could be a very cool system. Very well done !
What an interesting game! Took me a sec to wrap my head around it, but I like how different it is.
Love the mechanic. Feels super unique and like it has tons of potential to work into something bigger.
I personally found it preposterously difficult, but I am terrible at platformers anyway, and I also think these controls probably would be a bit difficult to master and part of the appeal is that you want to figure them out.
I agree that the gravity slider is mislabeled and I was initially confused by it. I also wonder if some of the difficulty weirdness couldn't be helped by maybe controlling the sliders in a different way (like something keyboard or even on a controller)? Or maybe giving them set intervals that they snap to? I don't know, just some thoughts I had, not trying to hijack your game or anything, haha.
Overall, this is simple, but functions really well as a sort of proof of concept I think. Shows off these unique controls and lets folks sort of test the waters. Perfect game jam stuff essentially. Nice work!
whoa. i did not expect that. I found the sweet spot and bounced through, and you won't believe what happened next.
This was really cool. I mean the slider controls are weird, but this was a really neat little game. Great work!
I’m so glad you found the secret. I feel like I get two types of comments. Either it’s a nice but hard to control platformer from people that only play the first part and give up or comments like yours. Thank you for playing and seeing it through. :)
Oh yeah, just so it’s written somewhere, I used sliders as control’s and name because it was originally going to be an 8 bit version of the TV show sliders from the 90’s, things changed a lot from the start, but that’s why the controls.
I like the concept of the game. I think the running slider makes this a bit hard. If you put in a pause button, I think you'd get better feedback. You need time to adjust the sliders without killing your speed. A temporary pause button would work. You should watch gameplay footage of a game called "Freedom Force" by Irrational Games. They had a hectic game with very complicated controls and how they handle it is what I think you might need. The world has to pause why you think and adjust your sliders. Then un-pause and prepare for your jump skills. You might even have rules on how often you can pause, or the longer you run the longer your pause can be etc...
I really wanted to add an all stop button, I thought it may be one to many buttons. The best tactic I have found was to set the gravity about 75% then hold down the mouse button over the speed slider and use that to full stop or boost forward. If you set them both about halfway then play like that you can make it through after a few attempts. Thank you for your feedback and playing the game.
I think there is a bit misunderstanding in this game setting. The gravity slider act more like the slider to tweak the force of jumping.
The control in this game is really sophisticated. And it is a little unfit for this level design.
But I like the little surprise in this game. I wish there are more things to like in this game.
yeah, should have named it jump force, that is the variable the slider changes. The controls are a little hard to get used to unless you do it a lot and get a method down. I scrambled the last hour to put a checkpoint in the second part of the level it felt unfair being sent back to the beginning if you died. Thank you for playing :)
Congrats on your game! The concept is very unique and interesting, it feels kind of like a mashup of 2d platformer and strategy. A bit difficult to get a grasp on at first, but pretty fun!
Great concept and liked the physics. That said, I was terrible at playing it, LOL. Still, had fun trying. Had the feel of an 80's arcade game so hit a nostalgia spot for me. Great job, well done!
Really enjoyed the balance of tactical and reactionary gameplay.
I thought I broke the game when I fell through. I was not prepared for the next part. Great game!
Too hard for me. Great concept though. Loved the Backroom. First time I've been in one.
I couldn't find where to list assets, so here they are and on the games main page.
