Cool concept once you grasp the fusing aspect.

From there on you really want to get more and more upgrades.

And once you die you get to keep 1 of your best cards, feeling like you still make some progress.

It was a blast to play for quite a bit!

Great job creating and submitting a game!

Edit: I wasn't sure how to get money to buy new cards. But after watching your playthrough I see that there was a sell-section in the shop. And that were some secret upgrades. The secret upgrades are not as obvious - maybe putting hints for the combinations in hard to reach places is an idea. Was cool to watch - thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Nice card game.   I liked the art style.  Music was nice.  SFX were good too.  It'd be nice if the ship stats were visible all the time instead of only when putting a card in play.    Oh, and I got into a stale-mate once and couldn't figure out how to get out so I had to re-load the screen.

 The game managed to keep me in. I didn't understand much at first, but after losing a few times, I figured out the game mechanic. this is definitely a game that can be improved. I loved it. I congratulate you on your success captain :)

This is one of my favorite games I've played yet! it's so satisfying to build up a deck by combining cards together. I do wish that the ships that I've destroyed would be on fire in the world map or sunken, that way I don't find myself going to them just to see if they are dead. Also it would be nice to get Rum just for destroying ships instead of selecting it as a reward. I was unable to buy anything within the first run. Overall the gameplay was solid and fun, excellent work!

It took me a while to get to grips with the game, on my first run I was all planks and no cannons and I didn't understand the shops, I totally missed the "sell" button on the side so I never had any money. Healing 300 hp per turn but having to wait 6 turns to get both my tiny cannons available was pretty tedious but I started to get the hang of it when I found the sell button. I liked the strategic element of trying not to kill things to give you more time to upgrade your cards. I did find that I ended up with so much offence, that was really hard. 
It would be nice to have more differentiation between the ships to get a better idea of their power level. 

I wasn't able to defeat the kraken but having seen your comments about gems being able to upgrade the cards above 100, I might have another go because it was a fun game. Still no idea what you're supposed to do with the Rhum though.

One thing I noticed, and I don't know if this is a bug or intentional but sometimes I would accidentally play my reserved card before drawing a hand and that gave the enemy a free shot at me. (also sometimes, after playing 4 cards and reserving one, the game didn't proceed and I had to play the reserved card too).

It would be nice to see what cards the enemy is playing - or if they're just static stats, have them displayed all the time to make it easier to see what's going on

This game is cool! I know you may not be proud of your art, but I find them to be quite fun to look at. I actually clicked on this game because of the thumbnail :D. I see a good sense of design, and the game holistically looks good for game jams' standard.
Fusion is a very good idea. It is fun to see the deck getting stronger as you fuse cards. One improvement you can make is to present the game mechanics better visually. I didn't notice the stats at the corner at first. I think if how the game works is explained better, I wouldn't be stuck for as long.

Sailing around was fun, and I like the photo of a dude on one of the ships. It seems like you had fun making this game, and that's all that matter!

Overall, a very fun card game. Great job!

Really fun. Would have liked some cross breeding of some of the cards and higher values than yellow in fusing and also not have to use every card beefore the fight.

There are cards higher value than yellow ! You have to find the right cards in some of the chests (hint : there are 3 precious geme stone one for each type of cards. Also something to be done with the rhum haha)

You can save one card in the fusion zone for next turn, but you will only be able to draw 4 cards. 


I have to think about letting the fight start with more card from a gameplay perspective, maybe I'll try it if I keep working on this game

I think if there are card higher than yellow, that wasn't well explained or was too well hidden. I got lots of gems but selling them seemed to be the thing to do and the Rhum seemed fairly pointless, I stopped picking it up. I found the boss fight basically impossible, The highest armour card I had was 80, the highest cannon was 100, but the boss had an armour of 200 and an attack of 150, so if I had enough attack to overcome the armour, I didn't have enough shield or healing to not get one-shot killed

I would just have better tutorial just hinting at what you could do with gems and rhum.

What I meant by not using all the cards before the fight is that you have a button off to the side you can use to attack while you still have 2-3 cards in your hand.

I'm just picking game dev and putting a lot of effort to try and change career. I did put a lot of hours into this in the last 10 days haha.

Also the key of beating the kraken is trying to find the secret fusions with the precious stones you can find in some of the chests :p

Nice card game!

I really liked the deckbuilding aspect of looting/fusing and the choice of selling your cards to thin your deck.

The game could use a little work on the pacing aspect: the first battle is very long, while after a couple restarts you one-shot pretty much everything and don't get the chance to fuse your cards. There are some solid ideas here though!

Wow this was really well done. The mechanics are thought-out nicely and card gameplay is satisfying. At one point I had so much armor I couldn't really die xD Please work on this more. I can see the potential for a full-fledged game on this

Fun card game! It took me a while to understand how the fusing mechanic worked.

At first, I thought it was just for saving a card for the next turn and wasn't taking advantage of making the cards stronger. I also didn't take time to check the other ship's stats to understand I need to have higher ATK than their DEF to make any damage to them.

It would be nice to have an X or some sort of mark appear over the places already visited.

Also, I think the game bugged on me after a few games, because the enemy ships would fire at me before I had finished setting the cards! That's not fair! XD

I just uploaded a bug fix for this one, I still don't understand why it was doing this haha

my problem was my (PlayerDeck.count == 0) return true sometime for no reason ... Maybe when list are being modified their count return 0 ??

Hope what I did fixed it !
