At first I have a bit hard time to realize how the mechanics work and just send my character flying, then get stabbed by the flying enemy. And I think at least a music can be put during the gameplay, cool visual effects though. Nice game you have made!
thanks, those are some good points!
I got this working on my linux laptop with Wine pretty easily, so that's a +. I was really impressed with the visual effects and the artwork. The game definitely has a cool aesthetic going for it. I tried with my touchpad and gave up and plugged in a mouse, definitely felt a lot better. I like the gameplay trade off of moving vs shooting and the recoil-based movement feels solid enough that it's usable while still being slightly chaotic which makes it feel unpredictable but also enjoyable. Wish there were more levels but it's definitely neat, nice job
thanks a lot for the feedback! And it's cool that you made it work for Linux, I definitely overlooked it haha.
Won't forget about your game don't worry!
Game mechanic is awesome! The enemies are pretty easy to deal with, but I think the rolling enemy is a bitttt too annoying (having to wait for it to reach all the way to the end every time it rolls). Sad there wasn’t any music :(
thank you, that's some good feedback right there!
I had some fun playing it ! The game mechanic and the graphics are good, too bad you couldn't implement more content :/
For the reloading part, it is actually possible to skip it by either spamming the mouse button or releasing it just before the gun goes overheat, just so you know.
I'd be glad to see more of this game in the future ! Keep it up !
thanks for the kind feedback, I've actually already moved on to a different overheat mechanic, it now takes into account the amount of shots fired per unit of time, but thanks for letting me know.
Looks stunning, and the mechanic of having to jump by firing your weapon at the ground poses some interesting challenges when traversing the level. I would've loved to see more though, I felt ti was rather short, even for a demo. But if my main complaint is that I want more, I think you've done a pretty good job! :)
Thanks for the kind words, and yes the game is undoubtedly short 😅, we're hoping to change that in the months to come!
I love the way you've made this game look. The post processing effects are awesome and the lighting is just great. It honestly feels like I'm looking through an old CRT TV screen. The parallax background is really great as well. I love the use of physics for the cannon balls, so I can bounce them off the ceiling to kill the enemies below. That said the game is obviously very short, but there is such a lot of potential in here and you've done so many interesting things that this might be the first game where I actually go and check out the github repository and see if I can learn a thing or two. Great job.
Thank you soo much for the kind words 🙏🙏🙏🙏
More than welcome to snoop around, just don't judge too much any spaghetti code you may find xD
Graphics look great and zooming around with your Arm-Cannon(TM) was really fun.
Very much agreed with the other reviewers, I would have played more of this if there was more , so... MOORE ;P
Well done !
HAHAHA thanks for encouragement!
I would join the “I wish there was a little bit more” club. :D The game looks and plays good.
haha thank you
This control scheme is so fun. I wish there was more!
I am enjoying just flying around this chamber though.
Thanks haha, that means a lot since I spent quite a bit of time experimenting with lots of different ways for the cannon shots to react and the recoil in order to make feel good to use.
Still for a full game I'm gonna for sure have to tweak it some more and maybe limit certain aspects under unlockable abilities or something.
Hi!
Nice game -I really like the drawing styled graphics and colors, and that the lamps have physics attached to them. Great UI too :)
I wish there was more of it to play, perhaps with different ammos (i.e. different impulses for the jump), but a month is a pretty tight constraint...
Anyway, good job!
Thanks for the great feedback and suggestions!
The graphics, while simple, have great atmosphere thanks to the advanced lightning and attention to detail in the scenery, and that adds a lot of personality to the game!
At first the controls are a little hard to grasp, but after dying a few times I started to catch them hehe. I'm not very good tbf, but it's fun to navigate the map flying with my cannon hahaha! 😁
I would change this feature in the future tho, because while it's fun, it may be a little too chaotic for a full game. That's just my observation, but it doesn't really subtract from the final product.
I would consider adding music to the game. It would add even more atmosphere. Even adding more sound effects would be enough.
Good game guys, great job!! 😃
Thank you, yeah for sure, I was actually a bit concerned the cannon was too powerful for these enemies but the fun factor too over haha. We were actually planning on in the future making it metroidVania-esque were you'd startoff with just some basic abilities on the cannon and as you advance in the game you'd find/unlock certain powerups or perks for the cannon that you let you do more advanced stuff and get to places that you couldn't before. But for the jam, since our whole theme was of "Loose Cannon", we felt it appropriate xD.
Admittedly yes, revamping the sound is very needed.
The aesthetic and controls of this game feel amazing! The game is well explained and I loved both the level setting and the menu leading up to it! After I succesfully replayed it and figured out how to use the recoil (thus editing my previous comment of not making it very far haha) I have to re-confirm that I loved it :)
haha, thank you, glad you got it in the end!
Well done, I think I also saw some screenshots on discord every now and then? In any case, I replayed the level twice, hoping I missed something... Wish there were more levels, this game feels pretty polished and it's a ton of fun to fly around
I'm not sure, I think you might be confusing it, but thank you so much for the feedback, great to know it felt fun despite the very short playtime.
Wow, this was really good! I appreciated how the first portion just let me experiment and figure out the movement. To be honest, the enemies were a little spongy. I wasn't sure if they could be killed at first, but other than that, great work!
Thanks for the feedback! Yes that might be true, I was honestly a little afraid the player was too overpowered for these enemies so I may have made them spongy and a bit vague, something to improve.
Very satisfying movement, aesthetically pleasing(audio could be better). Overall nice game.
Thanks, will keep that in mind, we really should think of revamping the audio department.
Very nice graphics and effects. Although the game is too short, but it catches with its unusual atmosphere and funny gameplay. I wish you success!
Thank you for the feedback, we surely wanna add more stuff in the months to come!
I like what I see. Nice and distinct visual aesthetic. Good amount of detail in the environment. Main weapon charge up effect when held down was a nice addition.
For improvement, I would say add more audio (especially music). And of course more levels as it is very short.
Good Job!
Thank you for the feedback, and I agree we skipped quite a bit on the audio part.
Cool game! I can tell a lot of work went into the details. There are lots of great effects, visuals look nice, and I felt surprisingly in control while launching around. I'm sure it could have held my interest for much longer if there were more levels. Nice work!
Thank you! In fact we had planned for more levels but ended up deciding it would be better to submit a more refined, closer to the initial vision, version of just the first area than watering down everything in order to include more levels. But hopefully we can add the rest in the future.
