Congrats on 2nd place overall and first in audio! This was such an incredible game. I love how the sounds drag you into the storyline. Innovative way to play a game (with only 6 shots to be able to see), loving the voice over (kudos on whoever did that), great way to pull a player through a heartfelt story. I did lose the 'plot' a couple of times, but easily found my way again. Fantastic job. We played it for the GitHub Game Off live stream, check it out: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1712466363

Very fun game! :)
I really liked the art style. The use of voice acting and cinematics was cool, too :D As far as gameplay is concerned, I enjoyed solving all of the puzzles, and thought the shooting and platforming both felt really good! I liked the story and the surrealism that the levels take on as you get further and further into it :)
Great job!
Great game. Browser version was a bit tricky to use (tabbing out) but the downloadable option addresses this.
Loved the voice acting, music, gameplay and general horror ambient! I found the jumping a bit tricky, sometimes it would not jump and it was a bit hard to control where to land. Gun sound would also not trigger sometimes.
Ok, honestly, I'm blown away.
I was afraid it would be a game filled with screamers and scary stuff, which I personally hate, and was nicely surprised by the content of the game.
I like the shooting mechanics to reveal the environment. The storytelling was good, it's nice that you had a voice actor as well! Good cinematic transitions.
The only sad thing is that those were 3rd party assets, but you used them so well!
Great job, amazing submission, my favorite so far I'd say!
Wow, this is incredible to hear! Thank you so much!
And yeah, we agree with you on the 3rd party assets. It would have been awesome to make them all. But after we modeled, rigged, and animated the arms, we realized if we didn't use assets, our game would be about 30 seconds long haha. The woes of a two-person team and a time limit :P
But thanks again for the great feedback!
Awesome game, I loved the graphics and the gameplay, thanks for your submission!
A couple of excellent expectation subversions, good ambience, I especially loved the entrance gate falling off its hinge and the leaves in the wind at the start. I was just thinking to myself that no daughter of mine deserves this much risk to be rescued; and then I saw who Sammy was and understood why the protagonist would go through that hell to rescue her.
Very very good game, I am really impressed! The ambiance is 100% achieved, i was frightened so much !! Audio, art, gamefeel, setting, mood, progression, tutoralization, ... everything is absolutely great!
I have 2 remarks to make :
1. reminds me a lot of "Perception". Maybe you know the game? (https://store.steampowered.com/app/426310/Perception/) The core mechanic is similar (though not the same puzzle concepts revolving around the perception limit).
2. I think it's intended in a way, but the feeling of ammunition being rare and precious is limited by the fact you can die & retry levels as much as you want. Sometimes I purposely used them all simply to understand the level layout, then committed suicide, then could skip the early shots of my gun as I had the map in memory. I think there are many ways to address this though! Longer levels, punishing spamming with a mob killing you, going to previous level if you die too much in current level, making the flash only light close area... these are basic suggestions you could start from!
As always, ignore my feedback if it doesn't fit your vision :)
Congrats again for your game!! :D Cheers
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback!
We were actually not familiar with the game "Perception" until we had a friend of ours playtest our game and he mentioned it. It is since been added to my Steam library and the top of my "To Play" list for sure.
And yes, I agree. The stakes are quite low. And those are great suggestions! We have been toying around if we want to do anything with the game after the jam, so those suggestions are a great starting point to making the player's actions feel more meaningful.
Thanks again!
Really awesome game! Love the puzzle mechanic it was a lot of fun. Also all the animations / cinematic moments really gave it life. I just wish there were more levels to play! Great job!
Wow! Compliments!
Really enjoyed the experience. The game art is really good, simple yet it goes perfectly with the rest of the game.
The game mechanic is fun, I also enjoyed the puzzle aspect in the game.
As pointed out by others there should be something that tells you when a door needs a key and when does it not, but other than that the game is awesome and well polished. The levels are well thought and the number of bullets are on point, not too many and not too few.
I liked the colors used, especially good use of lights inside the game. The red light used on the creature really makes it stand out!
I was also really curious about the story of the game.
Really good job!
One of the best game I have played so far everything is good, atmosphere, theme, game mechanics, audio!
Whoa, this was pretty impressive in such a short amount of time. The opening scene really set the mood. I initially did have trouble aiming at the green button to open the gate in front of the mansion, so maybe a reticle or a more prominent one would be nice. Outstanding work, all in all.
Hallo,
Thank you for sharing your game. I’ve already saved its RATING;
1. verified: GAME due to learned of it after reading your review of our team’s submission
2. observed: noticeable use of 3D graphics drawing technique to cause surprise;
3. notes: GAMEPLAY's CAMERA view as that of First-Person Shooter Games; observed: inverted Y-axis to NOT exist in SETTINGS; adds: “LOOK SENSITIVITY” to exist;
4. verified: GAMEPLAY to reach level after unlocking DOOR using the previously missing KEY; notes: set of GUN BULLETS to return to FULL count, after DIED STATE and LEVEL DONE STATE;
5. adds: background music, voice-over, and sound effects to exist;
6. adds: has STORY where: objective : find female, SAMMY/SAMI, inside MANSION; remembers: Resident Evil#1 (PS1), albeit GAMEPLAY appears to be of executing correct ACTION to reach DOOR at END;
Thank you. Health!
Fun game!!
I really like the opening scene.
I love everything about it, from the sound effects to the carpet patterns.
Really enjoyed this one! It was a little frustrating trying to figure out where to go at certain points, but I guess that is part of the challenge. Great job!
I had a lot of fun playing your game! The mechanics felt really fresh and interesting, and the story and art were really well done.
Amazing game, an interesting mechanic in a well put together and polished package.
The voiceover is a nice touch you don't often see in jam games too! Well done!
Wowzers this is a good submission. Very professional, I could believe this was a demo for a full game. Cool unique game mechanic. Voice acting was quite good. The atmosphere and art style is amazing. I thought this was only a puzzle game at first, and was just thinking "These guys should remake this as a horror game" right when the first jumpscare came at me :D
For improvements, I would suggest upping the light radius of the lighter (maybe 25-50%). I found it a bit too restrictive, making it hard to navigate without looking at the floor the whole time. Also makes it harder to admire the surroundings and the work put into them.
Definitiely one of the top games I've played this Jam. Well done!
