In what way does your game fit the theme?
First full game and very difficult :D, good luck!
Note: because the build player prefs didn't delete on build there is no intro screen and everyone has the same id which is why everyone is on the same account/ leaderbord. You can still go to extras > intro to get to intro.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes I made everything myself except for music which I used a generator for.

I love how it looks, and I think you can add some simple sounds not to overcrowded and ruin the overall feel. Maybe an intringuing track,  witht the voice of the cube getting scare of been chance and change the pitch when is too close.
Overall a great entry!

Developer

Thanks! I went a little wild with the chaos theme as you probably saw thus all the sound effects :). I will keep these things in mind for after the game jam.

The game feels very good, the core gameplay feels great and the level design is barebones but it fits the game the way it was meant to be played! What stayed with me from this game was how good was this game’s UI, VFX and the visuals of the game as a whole were astonishing, and all these main menu features and ingame fx gave it the feel of an AAA game! Awesome work, especially if you think this was made in 7 days!

Developer

Fantastic to hear this man! I find game dev a little bit addictive so I did some overtime sometimes :D.

The visual effects is definitely very extraordinary and beautiful. I love the calming tone of the game, it gives a little bit of hollow knight / cuphead vibe.

The disintegrating effect of the character makes it awesome as well! It acts like a time limit to how long your character can hold! Very nice game.

Developer

Amazing to read, thanks!

Nice game.

Developer

Thanks!

I loved the simple art style and calm music at the back and UI looks clean.
the only annoying thing for me was the "prefect jump" the screen shake felt a bit disorienting, I think it should be swapped SFX but other then that a really great game, loved it!!

Developer

Thanks for leaving this feedback. I implemented this in the beginning of the jam and actually never thought of using sounds instead, will use this certainly after the jam!

I love the graphics !

Developer(+1)

Me too :D. Thanks for the comment!

Congrats on finishing your first game jam! I hope you learned a ton and had fun :)

You're not kidding - this game is super hard. I couldn't get past the (first?) gravity section. The tables that chase you are just a little too fast so that a single imprecise jump or hang makes them stick to you and you can't get away. There are exceptions of course, but most times you should consider making your game easier than you think is right. As you develop and test your own game, you'll naturally become better at it and have difficulty judging difficulty. Making a game hard can be fun, but for general jam audiences, making it a little easier lets more people play, finish, and give more feedback on your game.

I really like your sprites. The tables are wonderful and the little sugar guy falling to pieces showing your health in-game feels really neat. Well done!

Keep making games, you're good at it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! While posting the game I already knew it was to difficult but I had no time left to playtest enough and make it easier. Ofcourse after the jam you begin thinking of ideas making it easier and more fun to play. Regretting that you didn't implement them sooner. But it is what it is and I'm glad indeed that I finished it and love to hear all this feedback. I will add all these wonderfull ideas in the post jam update :).

Superb game. Honestly. Really fun mechanics and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I do recommend fixing up the mentioned bug others have come across as well regarding getting stuck on the edge. But you could really improve this into a very fun full fledged game!

Developer

Glad to hear you liked it! I will improve all these mentioned glitches and improvements in the post jam update. Thanks for leaving a comment really appreciate it.

Love your game so much dude! Eyes on the table? It's so cute. The spotlight created a great atmosphere. The music is the right choice! The way you show the health point is genius. Really well done!

Some small critiques:

some times it sticks at the side of the table. It is quite hard to jump.

don't know at which point the control is gonna change. May need to add some clearer signs.

the music setting is a bit weird. can't hear anything below 60.

Developer

Amazing to hear such a big fan of my game :D! I will definitely keep all these critiques in mind for the post jam update and thanks for listing them up.

Submitted(+1)

This was more chaotic than expected!
Interestingly spin on hit and run. I kept getting stuck on the side of the tables while trying to jump on them, but otherwise, had a fun time dying over and over again!

10/10 wouldn't mind getting another "Sugar Rush". :D

Developer(+1)

Hahahaha nice to hear and thanks for the feedback. Never had that glitch myself but it seems you are not the only one with this problem. I will fix it in the updated version for after the jam.

Submitted(+1)

Looking forward to it!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty fun for a while once you understand what you need to do. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the comment! I was wondering did you find/read the intro. You can find one ingame under extra, normally it would play at start but it glitched. Or was the intro just not clear enough.

Submitted

Gonna be honest, I skipped it, it was a bit too long lol. When it comes to game jams, nobody really wants to have to spend a lot of time doing pregame stuff like learning a long list of rules/controls so it's best to have the gameplay be intuitive or have a tutorial that blends naturally into the game

Developer

Well I fully understand. I do it myself all the time but because of time I just made a quick intro with some text. I will keep this in mind next jam!

Submitted(+1)

I found it a bit difficult, but I thought it was well put together, great stuff.

Developer (1 edit)

You are not the only one. Literally everyone finds it difficult, including me :). This is because I had to little time to playtest my level and change some values. Happy you liked it and thanks a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty challenging but very interesting design!  The chaotic nature of being chased by tables is pretty funny.  I really liked the lighting effect, was that 3d or 2d?

Developer(+1)

It was a 2D project using URP wich is really good for the lighting. A quick tip wich I found out during the jam. Don't take a newer version of unity because while the debugging I only found solutions for older versions. And for the difficulty I know, it's a bit to hard. Appreciate the respons!

Submitted(+1)

A bit hard but really fun game, enemies are a bit wayy to aggressive. Maybe slow them down a bit? Moving doesn’t feel all that smooth but its good enough for the game, maybe that should be something to improve later on, but the concept is great. Couldn’t actually manage to finish the level tho… Graphics were amazing, especially the lighting, SFX were a bit muffled, but that is maybe because my pc’s speakers ain’t that good…

Submitted

I just realised the comment duplicated like 3 times somehow… deleted the other two copies but weird…

Developer

I struggled a lot with time management so I had to make the level on a few hours. Wich left me with little/no time for playtesting. I tweaked some values but never found a good speed for my enemies with left the game with a to hard difficulty. As for the sound for me everthing sounded good but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Fun game but I found it was too hard for me (I got to the reverse gravity). Maybe if the game started a bit simpler and added the enemies a bit later? Either way congrats on completing the jam! What did you use to create the sound effects?

Developer(+1)

Yeah that's the biggest issue with the game, to little time in the end and no time to change some values to make it less difficult. For sound effect I made some myself but most of them came from random things I thought about that sounds like it. For exemple the landing sound was a sweater falling on the ground. I really appreciate the feedback, thanks.

Submitted(+1)

WOW that lighting! pretty challenging too, liked it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! With chaos for me came a difficult level so sorry for that :)).

Submitted(+1)

The game is very cool and I had fun playing it. At first I didn’t know where would the chaos would come from but the first tables taught me otherwise, I tried cheating in the first part by riding a table all the way to the inverted gravity section and it almost worked. Also I found the lighting to be gorgeous during the level. Great job

Developer(+1)

Amazing to hear this. Also nice to see you trying to find other ways to be faster and beat the level. I struggled a lot with the lighting and all the visual things but in the end it was totaly worth it!

(+1)

Man, the art on this one is wonderful. Controls as well and it's a very nice concept approach. Being really picky in here: reduce the drag a bit when colliding with objects, when you do not reach a table and you're doomed to fall but pressing against one of the sides, the player will fall very slowly. Not sure if this is intended but for me, having such responsive controls and very specific jumps and fast pace it felt a little bit weird. But again, that's being very very picky, this one is art :D

Developer

At the start of this project I was a little to enthusiast and had planned for 3 levels, one thing I had in mind were walljump  for wich you should slide down a little bit slower. Since I suck at time management and it was my first jam I only went with one but never changed this. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

This is so hard! Really fun and a creative idea but very tricky XD Good job overall!

Developer

Thanks and I know it's maybe a bit to hard

Submitted(+1)

The idea of changing the level as it approaches is really cool. I found the controls a bit precise making it difficult, but still a lot of fun!!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! And I know it's hard to master the controls I will keep it in mind the next time
