hmmmm. very hard, not my style. gl
Really cool cohesive-looking art style
I don’t like the font used for “Player Turn” and “Terrain HP”. It stands out since it doesn’t fit the game’s aesthetic
I think this needs a dedicated tutorial. I read the itch page’s description but I’m still pretty confused
How do I know if an enemy is going to attack me or the terrain?
Why do I have to sometimes press the “Attack” button to be able to attack but other times I don’t?
Why is it possible for the player to attack their own terrain?
Thanks for the detailed review. I'll keep that in mind if it work on it further or any other game in my next jam.
For the second point you mentioned, it's because you can move + attack in a turn. If you moved already, you can't move again. Hence, I made it so that you directly get the option to attack when you've already moved, instead of pressing the attack button. Sorry for the inconvenience. I thought it would improve the experience but it seems like it didn't work the way I intended it to.
Nice entry! Here are my complete feedback:
* Positive points
- The graphic art direction is really good and coherent
- It reminds a lot of "Into the Breach", in terms of sound design & grid placement/movement, which is a good thing
----
* Negative points
- Missing some animations feedback when beating an enemy
- I would love a bit more strategy
=> Overall nice job!
This was really good! I loved the graphics and sound effects and the idea of protecting a save file. It was an interesting mechanic with the binary but it was a little hard to understand what direction it was reading. It was also weird that the 0's had attack but could not attack. I think you should have indicated/highlighted better how the binary powerup worked maybe outlining all the numbers in a matching row. You could also try to add pre movement visuals that show you if you will powerup anything after moving. Also, check out the little strategy game I submitted :)
I like this game. Really, cool! Maybe it worths to develop it further!
Very aesthetic. The graphics along with the sound effects create an excellent atmosphere. Excellent use of post processing, and even better job of not overdoing it. Since there was no formal tutorial, the game starts out by throwing the player into the deep end, which is one of my only criticisms.
Nice game. I liked the art style (it brought back fond memories of Knightlore). The music and sound effects were good too. Great work for the week.
i really enjoyed this game at fist you can just attack the enemys without any combination but in the later levels you have to pull out some strats and then also the fact that you shouldent do over damage makes it a bit more interesting
takes a bit to get into but its worth it ( i spent a little too much time into this game than i'd like to admit)
oh and check out my game if you want https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/926678
I tried very hard knowing what was happening but I didn't understand how number conbinations worked. It seems that is a very well planned game, is original, solid and pollished and fits the theme perfectly, but I need some kind of explanation to keep playing it. Anyway, it is very good job.
Hi, thanks for playing the game. I posted an explanation down below in the comments if you want to give it another try. Thanks!
Ooooh, ok I did't see that, I will give it another try tho. I recommend you to add that explanation in the game page, bellow the game.
Thanks for the suggestion. I now have a guidance section in the description.
Ok, now I know to play and avanced a lot, but definetely I am too stupid to complete the game hahahaha. Definitely ones and zeros make a complex but useful and complete mechanic, so greetings :)
Loved the game, cool art and nice overall look of the game.
Here's a few recommendations:
A tutorial would be helpful, for those who don't understand it easily
Oh and maybe allow the player to set what type of difficulty mode they wanna play at.
other than this? Loved the game :D
It can be a great time waster(in a good sense) with a bit more polishing.
Really innovative and fun game. It reminds me a lot of chess. Could have a main menu and a tutorial. If you are planning on updating the game later after the jam, offering the players difficulty options would also be really nice. Great job!
I love this game and its innovative concept, it has a really nice design and the chosen music track matches quite well with the atmosphere. my favourite part about it is how only a smart guy can pass it 🤓 p.s.: I'm trying... ; - ;
The game has a lot of potential, but with this great gameplay, the game doesn't have a menu(it's really lacking).If you want, please rate my game.
This is a cool game, could have used a tutorial as it took me a while to figure out the specifics. Loved the visuals and SFX.
This is an awesome concept and I’d like to see this improved and polished out even more for a potential commercial game. I didn’t read the tutorial before actually playing the game hoping to see one, but I managed to get the hang of it while playing it. I love that the simple but cool enemy designs, like the horse, which is a homage to the Trojan virus! Great job!
Thanks for the extra effort of playing it even without a tutorial
Really nice look, but there isn't any explanation.
You have a very cool game! The graphics are stunning but there is no explanation, no tutorial and no menu so i was a little lost
Also, don't forget to play and rate my game!
love it! really nice look-and-feel, fun to play!
