I can playtest your games and give feedback, you don't need to play mine cause i didn't attend to the jam

Submitted

Would be nice to get some feedback on mine if possible please.
I don't think the core mechanic is especially 'fun' but would be nice to get outside opinion, especially on things like speed, difficulty, sound etc for final tweaking.

https://strodogames.itch.io/lackluster

These are the issues I already know about that I'll be cleaning up in the final day:

  • Settings menu needs to be implemented
  • Inventory slot should move to the bottom of the screen when you reach the top of the room as it can block the view of the shelf
  • Need to add graphics to the view outside of automatic doors and overall improve the layering between player and that area
  • Game over screen needs to give restart/main menu option rather than just automatically starting a new game

You need a tutorial level.

The font on the main menu is hard to read.
And it's hard to keep in mind the informations on the main menu. Player didn't even see how the game looks and you tell him what to do.
I got confused and readed the Instructions 2-3 times and still didn't understand well.
So I just jumped into the game. And then realized, I didn't even know the controls.

So yeah, you should make a tutorial.

Love the concept, I managed to walk out of the shop and not be able to get back in though haha

Submitted

Yeah I hadn't implemented anything to stop that yet, knew there would be someone who straight away went 'wow  a door, lets see whats outside' haha Did you also find the instructions hard to remember/understand?

Submitted

Yeah all good!

Submitted

Was that a 'yeah all good' to the non-implementation or yeah to hard to remember/understand instructions? Thanks for playing btw

Submitted

Sorry, I meant to the instructions. I found them clear.

Submitted

Great thanks :) I met everyone half way and just make some arrow indicators for the first tape.

Like the other people say you need a tutorial. Your music fits the game well.

If you can here is my game: https://janjcl.itch.io/revengeonebos

I really like the artwork, did you create it yourself? Level 1 music fits well.

The controls are very (if player pressed jump this exact frame then jump), if you have the time and inclination then I'd suggest looking at implementing a buffer to it as control feels play a massive role in platformer games. Heres a post that goes into a bit more detail on what I mean Link.

The enemies need a bit better player detection, the first and second enemy immediately 180 killed me before I even had time to register them in my view, try to make it more human-like. At the moment your controls say 'move fast' and your enemies say 'tap D to make sure there isn't an enemy up ahead'

Hello, it will help me a lot improving my game if you playtest my games. I want know if its seems too hard for you. And other bugs like UI problem, crashing problem etc.

Oh I forgot the password. It is “thanks” without the quotation mark.

Hi! It's my first game and I will really like feedback :) https://jesuspinarte.itch.io/reverse-me

Gameplay is good but Presentation needs improvement
You give too much information to player, I got  frustrated at some point.

It's probably because the game itself is complicated to Tell. It has complicated mechanics. It's not a idea that you can tell someone with 4-5 words.

The solution is, you need to present them to player slowly. One by one. By letting him try them before telling him another information.
And I suggest you to use less words to tell something.

Less talk, more gameplay. That's what player usually wants.
And Learning the game mechanics one by one.

I like how your level selector is part of the game and your music is cool. There is not match gameplay and there is a lot of dialog.

if you have time could you check out my game: https://janjcl.itch.io/revengeonebos

Submitted

I like the idea of having limited ammo, and visually feels really good. The only thing I noticed is that I shooted from far away without seen an enemy I think I killed him :P But yeah, I liked it, good job!

You can playtest my game if you want :)

interesting platformer. I really enjoy its rewind mechainc. although, I'm im "recording" what if I'm able to rewind the point I died so that I dont die.

I dont know if I found a bug or if I'm just missing something...?

Also, I can fall through the bottom platform.

Submitted

Thanks for playing it, Hope you enjoyed it :D

Well, if you die, you die :)

Hmm.... the fall, probably thanks to the over accelerate by gravity, maybe changing my platform from dynamic to static will help :/
Will try fix it ltr, thanks for telling me

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Ah and, if you mean not enough gem, try pick the gem while using Q, it will double the Gems that you pick within the duration

Submitted(+1)

I only beat it 3 times so far.... but I did a thing..... be proud of me!

Submitted (1 edit)

Oh wow another bug, thanks

hmmm....for some reason it can't trigger all (the appear of platform, the disappear of platform and change the  respawn point) at once upon collision

any suggestions to fix it?

P.S.: I made them separate script

Submitted(+1)

What happened was that I grabbed the two gems up there and touched the door, but I was rewinding while that happened, it put me under the wall.  Maybe a box collider (trigger) underneath to disable the collision  until the player is out of the area, that way you can always pass through it from one side but not the other?

Submitted

does it make you respawn on the door after u die stucking below the wall there?

Submitted(+1)

I respawned at the spawn point at the bottom of the level, and climbed my way back up to get the screenshot.

Hit me up on Discord if you would like: Brandon194#4523

Submitted (1 edit)

Ah, Ic, maybe I'll move up the change spawn point script so it will run first before the platform appear

Discord huh, yea sure, but I'm not available now, maybe later

Feedback?

Submitted

This is like so well put together - even tho effects are simple, the game looks really polished. Also - the idea is just perfect. Seeing a game with this mechanic actually first time on this jam.

Your music is fun, if you hold space you can not die and your characters are fun. If you have time here is my game: https://janjcl.itch.io/revengeonebos

Works in browser, would love to hear feedback!

After exiting first level (I have pressed W+P to dash upwards, my character is frozen, I can't make any moves). Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Theoretically, you should activate speaking to the mole, but if you open the pause menu and hit retry, it should reset. I don't exactly understand what the bug is, but if you are floating aimlessly, then yes. I apologize.

Submitted

Sorry for the inconvinience. I just didn't know that O goes through a dialogue

Submitted

Oh, ha! I'll put that in the description then.

Submitted

I played your game. It's pretty addicting! The sounds and visuals are great, and it's difficult but not infuriating. FYI, you can walk through the stage in the back. I don't think at matters at all, but I would let you walk on the stage, or just block it off. Other than that, it's really well made. Good luck in the voting!

Wow - thanks for such an amazing feedback
