In what way does your game fit the theme?
Players can use a rewind feature to restore holes in walls and repair generators.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
My brother and I programmed all the code and created all the assets from scratch.

The visuals and sound were great but I'm not sure I understood how to get the rewind to work (I was playing on keyboard). I'd love to see what this could be turned into with some additional gameplay.
I'm glad you liked it! In order to rewind, you need to stand by the generators or holes, and hit the action button (left alt in your case) and you should be able to regenerate the item
This looks amazing and has the start to be great, just needs a bit more meat to it. amazing job either way!
Graphics and audio were pretty good but it could definitely use a bit more.... "Game"
This game's graphics, animations, sounds, music, etc are all great. However the gameplay as others have said is quite lacking, not bad by any stretch, but there's really no incentive to do anything besides standing around a certain area and mashing the attack button.
I think giving the player more attack options with usage limits on each would be better, For example you could have a sword attack that can be only used to much before needing to recharge, same with a ranged attack. You should also include more enemies that can only be attacked with certain attacks, such as a flying enemy that can only be attacked with a ranged attack and an enemy that can only be attacked with melee attacks, this would make the player be more mindful of what attacks they should use and be careful not to deplete one of them.
Another problem is that there is no reason to protect the generators, I think to mitigate this, the player should get stat buffs or extra abilities for killing monsters targeting them. Each generator should give a different buff, making the player want to protect them all in order to have the greatest variety of buffs.
I also think there should be rounds. Each round should have a certain enemy requirement that is visible to the player, and at the end of the round a boss appears. If you did a good job protecting the generators in the round, you'll do better against the boss since you'll have access to the buffs.
Sorry for the long review, but I see a lot of potential in this game!
Woah this game is satisfying to play, love it!
The Graphics and audio is where this game shines! However the gameplay is a bit lacking. I found that there weren't any consequences to letting generators get destroyed so I only had to protect one. At that point the game got boring due to just standing in one place and spamming attack on the enemies. A variety of enemy types could help cull the monotony and having some sort of incentive to keep generators alive would be cool. Maybe give the player abilities tied to how many generators are active
Thank you so much! We have already been coming up with some ideas on how to improve the game play and how to keep it engaging!
While it's a good game overall there are quite a fewe drawbacks thata I can't ignore.
Firstly though, the positives: The art design, the music, and the controls.
The negatives: there's no incentive to keep all generators safe, you can just stay at one and save that one. The game also gets a bit boring after a short while. This wouldn't be the case if there was more variety.
Still a great game overall though. Well done!
Hey, this game is a mixed bag for me - there are some obvious positives, and some obvious negatives, let's go through the positives first:
1) Phenomenal art!! This kind of level is enough to warrant being sold as a commercial games - albeit indie and small scale but with a good art direction, and this game DOES show good art direction, you can make something with this. I applaud you, seriously - this is amazing art!
2) Good sound design, hitting enemies feels right - I know when I'm hitting an enemy, the hit detection, and animation does it justice and feels good. Regerating holes, exploding generators - it's very much alive and responsive!
3) The player input and controls, *chef's kiss*, very good. Controls are very integral to a game's enjoyment and I think you've nailed it quite well on this one. Applaud!
However, there are also quite a few things I'd like to nitpick at if you'd allow me to, here's what I mean:
1) Questionable game design, and game loop - As you may have seen from other comments, players would find little reason to save all generators, instead they just keep 1 generator and basically camp it. I think you need more incentive to keeping all generators alive. Either by way of generating points or make destroy generators permanent, then add a bonus to keeping them alive. I think the close generators is a smart function, and if you removed the function to rewind generators, that would make for solid game design.
I think you're off on the right direction in game design, but right now without an objective, it feels empty playing it. I, subjectively, believed you should have worked towards the actual game and making an objective and a win condition - that would strongly cement your position for a high rank!
2) Lack of a variety of enemies, depending on how you approach your game design, you can add enemies that re-open walls, enemies that force generators to pop up, enemies that attack the player etc. forcing the player to make split-second decisions to decide whether to save generators on one side of the map or kill the enemy thats making holes. Obviously you were working with a time constraint but I think one additional enemy would have rounded up the game well.
And.. that's it. The game is actually quite well built - you've ticked a lot of right boxes for responsive controls, but arguably the most important box you haven't ticked was what game this is? What genre will it be? It almost looks like it has tower defense elements, without the towers - or a horde-defense game like Vermintide, without the horde. Playing this game generally has me a bit confused.
With that said, I am ABSOLUTELY EXCITED FOR YOUR POTENTIAL COMMERCIAL GAME. The art is PHENOMENAL, as I have previously mentioned, and makes this game truly stand out. I hope you'd revisit your game design philosophy to make a more focused game with clearer objectives and I'm sure the next time you do this, you'll really kick off.
Excited to see more!
Wow! Thank you so much for the awesome constructive feedback! My brother and I worked really hard on the visuals and controls. I'm really grateful you liked those aspects!
Regarding the two cons, we were struggling finding a balance between time and adding new features. This is our first game jam and we were definitely not prepared. However, from the moment I got the controls working and my brother got the art looking great, we knew we wanted to make this game into a full retail product.
Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to post this thorough comment and give suggestions! We are already working on updates!
nice game, I definitely like the art and music.
Brilliant game. Very, very good artwork and tight controls. I would buy the full verison of this in a heartbeat.
I really liked the art and the rewind gameplay elements are also well done. I wish there was an ending or a score system. Maybe player could get a point every second for each generator standing and the game would get progressively harder? Something to incentivise the player to keep more of them up. Now it is easy to just defend one generator endlessly.
Also, if you're not going for a webGL build, please include Application.Quit(); somewhere :P
PS: I wonder if the Debug.Log("GAME OVER, BITCH"); is still there :P
I really like audio and visuals on this game, however I didn't quite grasp what I could interact with and what I could not, some sort of interactive tutorial would've been nice
I really wish there was more depth, and definitely a way to clear the level, or at least ramp up the difficulty to make it harder, because as it is you can play forever.
Yeah. It's too easy of a game. We're planning on making updates and adding content.
Nice game, audio and graphics particularly.
But it was a bit frustrating that I didn't get to "win' and finally fend off this invasion. Feels bad for that scientist^^
Thank you! We want to add more content and actually have a "win game" scenario at a certain point. Haha
I liked the visuals on this one, definitely a cool retro vibe. The gameplay was simple, but fun. Nice work!
Thank you for playing!
Really enjoyed the art and music in your game! I liked the thought you put into the theme and it was fun to play overall!
Thank you for playing!
The pixel art looks really good and the sfx when you attack sounds sick, so props to whoever made the assets! For the rewind part, it took me a while to figure out that you use it to repair the broken holes. I also think the game could use a little balancing, because you can let all the generators except one be destroyed then just camp at the last one.
Thank you for playing! We realized that the game needs some balancing! We just didn't have much time left. However, we are planning on adding updates!
Looks amazing, sounds pretty good. Only thing I can say is I wish it had a bit more depth, maybe some different ways to attack or some different enemy types that shake up the gameplay and make the player make decisions during gameplay. It was really cool though besides the lack of depth and the melee was super satisfying!
Thank you so much. We were thinking of adding a lot of depth, but ultimately cut a lot of stuff to polish the game. We are planning on adding more content soon 🙂
This is a great game, Love the sound and art that ya'll made, and the game play is really satisfying.
By the way, I learned that enemies would attack broken generators. By having one remaining generator (I used bottom right), I was able to pick out and kill only the bugs that targeted my generator. I could technically play forever, but I stopped after 20 minutes lol
I noticed that a little too late. LOL. Thank you for the awesome feedback! :)
good game love the art well done
Thank you!
