Pretty cool idea you got there! however i think i stumble on a bug where i press esc but my character still face down(dead). i think there is a weird collider too i cant climb slope. other than that good job! :) congrats :)

Hey, I really enjoyed the game, atlthough I had to restart the whole game once, because it just went straight into black screen with only mouse cursor visible.
The game idea is nice and fits the theme in a nice way. Levels are going in smooth progression and are well thought out. Only one thing that I didn't really like was thath the movement was weird, especially on slopes, other than that the game was fine and fun.
Cheers!

Yo’ Templar here,

  • The main mechanic can create some fun puzzles if polished
  • The level progression goes through the mechanic really well, expanding upon the possibilities without overwhelming the player. A few things to point would be:
  • A couple of bugs, as some other people point out.
  • Movements feels floaty and janky at moments.
  • Some collisions are awkward, like moving through a slope.

Good idea, the game is good,  puzzles are well thought out.
it's a pleasant game.  I think restart the room could be a bit faster.
For bugs, sometimes, my character gets stuck on slope and there is black screen at the end of a room.

Good job !

This is a really good idea, and you managed to explore it well with some nicely designed levels. It's a really solid main mechanic, and the art and sound design compliment it all nicely. It just needs polishing and bugfixing, then you can extend it with as many levels as you can come up with!

In terms of bugs, aside from the black level bug, I also encountered an instance where the player sprite rotated after being hit with a boulder. This persisted on death and sent me into the ceiling whenever I tried to move forward.

As other people have said the player movment should be touched up a bit. I'd increase the players friction, as I seemed to slide on surfaces long after I stopped pressing the key. I'd also tweak the jump such that the player reaches the apex much quicker to reduce the floaty feeling. You take too long to reach the peak of the jump compared to the much quicker time to hit the floor. I'd also try to reduce the hang time by a tiny bit as well. I'd finally suggest widening whatever it is you're using for floor collisions, I'd often find that hitting space had no effect when trying to take a running jump off a platform.

None of these issues really take away from how fun the main mechanic is though, which definitelyshows its strength.

On a point unrelated to the game though, I wish I could score you on feedback given. I've seen your comments on a lot of games and you seem to be giving the best constructive feedback of anyone participating in the jam. So well done, and a massive thank you from me personally!

Developer

Haha I am humbled by all this. Thanks so much! I very much appreciate both your kind words and in-depth review, I've always loved games, both by other creators and my own and I believed that games can only reach their full potential through a consistent feedback loop. Plus, it's always a good exercise for me to practice game design.

The bugs was an unfortunate mistake as I was the only one playtesting my own game. I think I'd need to work on getting more third party playtesting for better feedback as a whole.

I was just in the process of touching up the player's movement kit as a whole so your words really help me narrow my focus towards the right direction in fine tuning to the best fit. I'll be sure to take your directions into consideration for the post-jam versions.

Glad you enjoyed the game!

Very nice idea, very well executed.

I loved the way the first level starts and the fact that you can actually rewind chrono guy out of the screen again.

From my point of view, what it is lacking is some polish but that has already been commented below (mostly regarding player movement), but that is easily understandable in a game jam. I actually find it hilarious that you have a super cool death animation but no walking one...

After reading a few of your comments on other games, I'm actually sorry to not have a more constructive comment to write :(

Good job and keep making games!

Developer(+1)

Hahahaha!

I have never done animation before so a walking animation is much harder for me than just making the guy dissapear and the hat floating down. The art aspect is something I need a lot of work on. Thanks for your kind words though!

This is an awesome game! One of the best platformers I've played so far!

A couple nitpicks:

I think you might need to turn on continuous collision detection on the player, I was able to squeeze into the walls a couple times.

Having a slowdown happen whenever you want to rewind something would make tracking objects to click with your cursor a lot easier!

Developer

Thanks for the comments! Collision is always quite a pain to get right. I'll have to think on the slowdown thing. I'm currently juggling between making a custom object selector and an idea similar to yours. Definitely need to work on it a bit more.

Submitted(+1)

Fun game with a creative concept too! I like that you can rewind all the objects, and not just yourself, which makes for some interesting puzzles. The platforming itself could use some work though - sometimes the floors (especially the slopes) feels like they have way too much friction, and the player character needs to jump a little higher. The character can barely jump onto one of those big square blocks, and at the level with the tall room and moving camera the final jump is really, really precise.

Awesome game! really! Only problem I had is at a certain level, when I died, the screen turned all dark and I couldnt restart or kill myself, so I had to reopen the game. Anyway, the levels are cool, the mechanics are awesome and the graphics suit it very well! :D

The idea is very interesting. I've see it brought up in other games, but you took it a step further, allowing even the player to be rewinded. The game is good, but it needed a bit more polish: the movement and jump on the slopes wasn't really pleasant, sometimes it's hard to rewind things in mid-air, sometimes, when you die you die again the moment you respawn and in one level, once I died, the screen turned black and I couldn't continue. Also, english is not my first language, but i think there are some typos when you tell the player he can rewind himself

Submitted(+1)

Amazing game i really like the artstyle and rewinding obstacles by clicking on it is an interesting an idea my only issue it was a bit hard to both rewind the player and the obstacles when in mid air but other than great game well done :)

Submitted(+1)

The graphics, audio and level design were great but there were things which could have been fixed to make the game more polished. For example: movement, especially on slopes felt slippery and inconsistent. Also, if you fail in one of the levels, the screen goes black so i had to quit out of the game to continue.

Cute little game, put the game needs a lot of polish, ithere the player should rotate a bit, more polishing. The jump is extremely annoying tbh, it's extremely floaty, the clicks don't always work on the objects, and as you can see in the picture, some objects have bigger colliders than they really are, so they kinda float a bit. That's It, and I hope you update the game later!

Would You Mind Giving My Team And I Some Feedback on our game too?

Submitted(+1)

The game is really, really good, I just don't give it 5 stars on everything because it's full of bugs, although it is to be expected.

Submitted(+1)

You created some really interesting puzzles with this mechanic!

Submitted(+1)

The game has a great concept to it! A few things to point out:

I think it was level 5 or 6? The room with the 3 falling platforms at the right side. When I die, the screen goes to black, but does not fade back in. I can hear my character moving via SFX but the screen simply stays black.

The player seems to get stuck on the ramps going up and it's hard to control things while making them rewind, I would suggest making a more curved response to the rewind objects so you can follow them with your mouse, or just click and need to hold without following.

I loved the layout of the levels though, very good engagement style tutorial!

Overall, you have a good game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The tutorial is always something I strive to improve because I believe it's extraordinarily important for a player's enjoyment. Just as you mentioned, you actually don't need to follow objects with your mouse to rewind, you just need to click and hold. I think I will need to make that more clear with the tutorial.

I'll be sure to keep the rest of your feedback in mind

This is rly fun ngl. (⌐■_■)>:thumbsup

Nice game, honestly. I love how the game controls and feels. The main menu is really nicely designed, could use some audio there. The concept is fairly simple but effective to how you platform towards the exit.

I think the exit could us a bit more illumination, to provide a bit more clear indication to where it is (I honestly fumbled around a level dying outside of the world thinking a hole was the exit). Other than that, I had this weird bug which always occur at the level with 3 breaking platforms where you need to reach the rune for the middle block to fall down. Once you die, it gave a black screen. I had to Alt-F4 and after dying 3 times at the same spot I gave up replaying the whole thing again (since it did not save) - screenshot as attached the black screen (bug?)(glitch?).

Overall, a pretty solid game which can be easily expanded into a full game with some extra polish and perhaps more mechanics to the game. Like the slope where the character had problems running up towards. Pity I didn't manage to finish it, but still quite fun!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Very unfortunate that I had missed such a game breaking bug in the game - I should have been more thorough in my playtest to eliminate these bugs. Perhaps I'd revisit it to fix the final remaining bugs and see where it goes.

Nice job! It's a fun game and I really enjoyed passing through all the levels!

Developer

Thanks!! May the Time Cup serve you well!
