Ranked from 32 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
Our game revolves around the idea of rewinding time to change the past to affect the future. The game starts in 2025. You are the last of your kind. Unfortunately, in 2024, disaster struck, and all others of your people were wiped out. Fortunately, before the incident, you worked for the government. There was a top-secret project to construct a global time machine that would have the power to rewind the entire planet to a previous state. Because of your ranking, you knew that the project was started and that a prototype was being built when the incident occurred. If you were to reach this experimental GTM and finish its construction, you would be able to restore everything to a state before the disaster. Because of your government status, you also had access to a personal rewind watch. Your watch is pretty small so it can only rewind you several years back. You can influence the past to help you in the future.

We didn’t want to make a simple “rewind” button or key that just acts as a restart button. We wanted to do something more complicated for our first game jam. Instead, we went for the bigger picture, rewinding years instead of seconds. Our game fits the theme because it is unique and uses the rewind time element to right your wrongs in the past.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
We wrote most of the code ourselves. All sprites were drawn by us. We used a font from google fonts, https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Megrim.

It's a good idea but not very well executed. The handling of the character is pretty solid but I did not know what to do ^^' Felt a lot like trial and error but not in a fun way.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yes, we're definitely going to make the game more clear after the jam, a lot of people gave that as feedback.

Very nice! You have a definite art style and the animations feel really nice. I love the music and the feel I get playing your game.  :)

Developer

Thanks a lot! :D Your game is cool as well!

I got stuck at one point because I couldn't work out which item to use on which object, and the game didn't really explain anything after I did something. I liked the idea, but consider making the consequences of the player's actions more apparent. The game was good overall, very nice visual design which to match the theme!

Hope you had fun making it!! ^^

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, making the gameplay more clear is one of our priorities now.

Great sound and graphics. Some confusion as to how to progress. At first I wasn't sure if when I rewind time I start in the place that I left or from the original starting point. Also, show some kind of indication when you can interact with an object or not. It took me ages to realise I could click on the key behind the wall.
That being said, I enjoyed playing it :)

Developer

Yes, we will definitely add something like that! Also, that is a bug xD! You are not supposed to be able to get the key but instead you are supposed go to 2024 and use the hammer to break the wall. This causes the wall to collapse completely in 2025! Thanks for playing our game tho! :D

Graphics and audio are amazing, idea is god but very confusing. It's really interesting to play but I didn't have fun doing it. It would be good to start the game with less difficulty and then increasing. I was kind of understanding what I was doing, I liked the hammer on the wall, and stuff. But I didn't know what to do, just a small complain because the game itself was really interesting and the music was not bad!

Great work on the game mate, be sure to check my game too.

Developer

Did! :D

I like the idea, the graphics and the audio, but I think the game itself needs a bit more hints. I feel like it misses the proper introduction, or tutorial, so you have to explore everything by yourself, so it can get a bit frustrating when you can't figure something out. I hope you'll continue working on this because it looks like it has potential to become a very very good game. It fits the theme very well, audio and graphics are great, and it seems quite innovative.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your detailed feedback! We do plan to add a tutorial/some guidance after the jam.

Very puzzling game. I like the whole time watch theme. Overall, very nice game, keep it up.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks :D

We spent a lot of time on the watch, glad to see people like it!

Nice game you could improve your movement but otherwise it is quite good keep up your work

Developer

Thank you! Yes, we plan to tweak the movement after the jam!

The art and sound of the game was good, however, I think it would be nice if the screen was just a little more zoomed out to be able to see more. Unfortunately, I got stuck on holding the tape after 30 rewinds just going back and forth the map clicking on stuff in different times. That said, it would also be nice to be able to keep your place in the map when changing time so it wouldn't be so tedious to run back and forth all the time trying to figure out where to apply something. I also agree on the Clarity part that SeminiGames mentioned below.

Overall, I think it's a solid foundation to build and improve upon, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We'll  do that!

The Good:

  • Menu screens - instructions and a way to tweak volume are welcome features
  • Art - good job on making everything yourselves. The music was nice and I liked the background effect with multiple layers
  • Concept - it's really cool you're able to rewind time with a watch. The fact that you can make changes in the past to influence your path in the future is interesting as well.

Could Improve:

  • Movement - the movement felt a little sloppy, mainly the dashing
  • Inflated playtime - it was pretty boring to have to go back and forth everywhere to figure out the problem, especially because there were multiple time periods and they sent you back to the beginning every time. A simple solution would be to just make the map smaller
  • Clarity - a lot of the time I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do next, which objects i can click etc. Maybe add a way for the player to distinguish between interactable and non-interactable objects

Overall:

A good entry with a unique concept. Suits the theme really well. However, it was a little boring at times when I didn't know what to do and which year to go back to.

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much for all the feedback! We will definitely use your suggestions if we continue the game in the future.

I played your game too, really fun! :)

Developer(+1)

I agree, we will definitely add your suggestions when the jam is over! :D

I liked the theme of the game a lot and the graphics looked really nice and clean. The movement felt a bit off to me (the jump was too short and the dash didn't conserve momentum), but it was a fun game to play overall.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We plan to tweak around with the controls if we continue the game after the jam.

Submitted(+2)

Nice game, I like the idea of the clock .. as a suggestion the movements sprite of the player can be improved, also the jump didn't always work as I expected.

Good job.

My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks

Developer

Thanks, we'll probably fix the controls when we update later.

I rated your game, it's fun!

Cool grafics!

Thanks! :D

Well made game with lovely artwork and great music. Got a little stuck on what to do with the tape but overall wonderful job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! The tape is used to fix a broken platform. It is supposed to represent the stuff in the center of all the platforms. Thanks again for playing out game! It means a lot! :D

I loved the theme and that you put a background for the game. The music of start are very nice and put a ambience in the experience. My only recommendation is to polish the controls.

Great work! If you have time, check out our game too~

Developer(+2)

Thank you! We worked hard on the music. If we follow up on the game, we will definitely tweak the controls. I will check out your game when I have a chance!

Submitted(+1)

Controls were a little funky, nice idea tho.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, we will tweak the controls after the jam!

The hit box on some of the items felt a little wonky, was having to click a lot to pick things up. My favorite part was the art for the watch. Very cool!

Developer

Thanks a lot, the watch took a long time. Me and @citrusmelon worked hard on it! :D

Submitted(+1)

The controls feel a bit odd for me. The jump & space keys work like 70% of time. Also I didn’t realize the up arrow does the jump, since the space key is usually used for jumping but here it is used for other thing, so I figured there is not jumping in the game :D Maybe reassign them somehow or just put a tiny survey of controls at the beginning of the level (for those who didn’t notice the “instructions” menu).

Nonetheless, good job!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for pointing that out! If we can, we will definitely add that after the jam.

Cool graphics!

Thanks a lot!
