As you destroy enemies you lose experience and eventually level down which rewinds your stats making it more difficult to stay alive
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote the code and made all the art, but I did not make the music/sounds

I had a lot of fun playing your game. I like the fast paced style and the sound effects fit very well. Your idea is very unique. I think it would be cool if I was able to see the whole area on my screen all the time.

Very well rounded game! I like how fast paced it is and your take on the theme. I absolutely sucked at it, though :P
I like the neon graphics , shaking and explosion effects.. also the music and sound makes makes a cool atmosphere. Movicon the player was quite slow,, I was a little bit hard to dash with space using the arrows to move and the other hand with the mouse..

Hey Justin, nice to see you participate in this jam! You did well making "Downgrade", it's a pretty fun and solid top down shooter. The basics were there, so you can only improve from here. I like the dashing the most, it feels really satisfying. Might be overpowered though.😄
I didn't find any bugs except the health display showing negative after dying.
Nice concept and an interesting implementation of the theme. I think it would be cool if the player had to decide himself what to downgrade instead of downgrading every player's stat. Maybe even randomizing things to downgrade, so the player had to choose between three different stats to downgrade. I think that it would make every try unique.
Overall, I liked the idea and I had fun playing your game. The visuals are simple and it works very well. Good job!

Interesting idea. I like the game itself but the lose of experience feels a bit wrong. Nonetheless i had a lot of fun playing it. Overall great game. Well done! :)
Pretty cool concept and a fun game overall! The camera moves a little too fast when you're dashing though, so I would smooth out the camera movement a little.

A very nice game! Fun interpretation of the theme. One thing I’d note: given that a reasonable tactics is moving from the enemies and shooting backwards, the trail of the player looks a bit weird. Great job!

Nice one! The game is overall very fun and I like the screen-shake and sound effects, the dash feels really satisfying. I guess the only gripe I have with the game is I wish there was more variety in the enemy types, as well as the enemy movement/behaviour, which would perhaps force the player to use the dash ability in a more interesting way.

Thanks to everyone who plays the game. I'm aware of the bug where your max health goes down after reaching level 1, so I'm sorry about that. My personal high score was 92,000 so I want to see what everyone else gets
