I took me some effort to run it, but I'm glad I did! The cats are very cute and extra squishy :) I wish there was a way to spawn more of them, so they would crowd the desktop, bouncing around!

I really appreciate you taking the time to play my game!! I'll definitely try doing that if I ever update this game in the future :) Thanks!

I think I killed too many cats 😭. Cute little toy! Good work!

Wow! That was something unique—wasn’t expecting that. The art is adorable.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing, I really appreciate it!

Wow, very cool implementation with transparent background! I wonder how does this work, is every cat a separate window?

Also, umm.. i am traumatised now, i didn't really need those points, they are just numbers anyway...

Developer(+1)

Each cat is a separate panel contained within a transparent frame! Sorry for traumatizing you haha, thanks so much for playing!

Was kinda surprised to see a game made in java as a submission but it was a really fun game to play. Really enjoyed the polished art style look and fun mechanics. Before playing the game I saw a lot of people talking about not "Squishing too hard" and it was really surprising finding out what they meant lol. Really fun submission

Developer

Haha glad you were surprised! Thanks for playing!

Am I blind or is there no executable in the files

Developer

There's a .jar file that you can double click to run the game! If you run into any issues with running the game lmk!

Submitted(+1)

What is this!?! Haha, I didn't read the description and just launched the game, which left me very confused. Then, I held it for too long and was horrified! Well done :-) Love the art style.

Developer(+1)

Hehe, thank you so much for playing!!

I really like the aesthetic of this game (holy cow don't squish for too long, I get the last comment)! Although it's very simple, it's a charming little thing!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for your kind words!!

Quite cute desktop idler. Totally not prepared for the consequences of SQUISHING too HARD :<. I think you only need to download the JRE and double click the jar file and it should just run on its own

Developer

Haha thanks so much! And that's great to know, thanks for commenting that info!!

Nice concept! As others have mentioned, it's nice that the game doesn't run in a regular window. And it has cats, that's always good.

I liked it 👍

Developer

Thanks so much for playing, I appreciate it!

Squish that cat!

Developer

squish it!!

I love the fact that you work in Java (I do the same, and enjoy it very much)

it was very cool, that the game is not like a usual window, but just the sofa with the cats i them. I didn't know what to do at the start, so I just tried to move the cat back to the sofa, until its head exploded!!!!

Btw, for anyone else that tries this game, and gets the "A Java Exception has occurred" error, what you can do is go to the cmd, go to the folder with the game, and write java -jar squish-cats.jar. This will launch it :)

Anyways. Great job! :))

Thank you so much for playing!! And thank you for commenting that tip for everyone as well, much appreciated! :D

This is a very cute game, I love the cats! It's also really cool that it was coded in java. I havent seen any games do that so far

Edit: I didnt know how to squish them at first... I thought it was just a normal thing like petting them... NOT EXPLODING THEIR HEADS JEEZ

still cool game tho

Developer

Hehe thanks for playing!! I really appreciate it :)
