How does the game fit the theme?
all the different spells can easily kill you so it is inevitable that you are going to kill yourself at one point

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I used the map generation code from a project I did for a school project, but I redid nearly all of it because it was so bad

Cool idea, I just wished there were descriptions that explainded what the balls do, cause they feel random.

Just wondering, is there any spell that are good for attacking? I've tried out a few, but in the end chose back default without other spell works better for attacking.

Also, I got soft-locked:

Developer (1 edit)

sorry forgot to say in tutorial that you can double jump and you have rooms above you it is just they go grey once you have entered them but it blends into the background a bit

Good spells for combat:

Yellow and pink but you have to wait till there is a decent amount of space between you and the enemy.

Yellow and green is the same.

Wouldn’t recommend red  and white as it is hard to control.

Blue and pink can be used but they gain immunity to being stunned for a second after getting hit

I do think that the spell are mainly only necessary for the bosses

Making a random -gen roguelike in a week is super impressive! great work there! It took a little fighting to work out how it functions, but it made sense in the end - though i wish the non-immediate-explode-floaty-guys had healthbars so I could plan my moves around them a little more. Other than that, it worked super well :D

Great work on making a roguelike in a week, I've made one for a jam before this must have been a lot of work. I think the spell combining mechanic is super cool, but a lot of the spells seemed to end up getting me killed so I used my default attack most of the time. I like the art style the monsters look so freaky lol. I really would've liked some health potions or something to spawn randomly in rooms, it felt like my run was dead if I took any damage before finding the boss. I got close to killing the boss but he was really tough I couldn't manage to do it. Great work on this!

The really goopy art style is really interesting, especially the balloon fella. Had fun exploding him and getting knocked back!

this is a really good game to try and play over and over again. the randomized mechanics work well together

Really fun to kill the ones that explode!

Cool concept !

It's a little weird to instantly get attacked when entering a room.

But overall its a cool game !

The procedural generation was what really sold the game in my opinion. This game has a TON of potential. The ball mechanic was executed really nicely. I think it would be beneficial to have a little popup in the menu when hovering over a ball to see its effects. The art was cohesive and strengthened the games presentation. I would love to see this expanded upon!
