How does the game fit the theme?
It is intended to be a subversion of the dating simulator genre, and things absolutely go wrong for all participants.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I used a few free 3D models which I credited properly in the game's credits.
Additionally, I used royalty free stock images as a base for some of my characters and environment. The in-game version of these images have mostly been modified to be unrecognizable.
I bought an analog horror audio pack and used royalty free and stock sound effects for my audio
I also used the following Godot addons:
-Dialogue Nodes
-PhantomCamera
-CsgToMesh
-ProtoController (by you guys!)

WOW!!!! How did you make this game in only one week!! Absolutely loved it! felt like this game deserves so much attention, I only played once and failed but I'm sure I will play again and can't wait to find more secrets and more of the story! It is such a cool idea, it fits the theme so well, it had interesting gameplay and an awesome story - good job! I didn't really understand the need for the notebook and also the audio got a little repetitive at some point (which is understandable). Amazing game nonetheless!!
So much fun! - Lovely twist!
Great concept! A very atmospheric game that perfectly conveys a sense of mystery and strangeness in what’s happening! I think it would be worth considering changing the font for the dialogues—it really strains the eyes a bit. Also, adjusting the controls would be convenient; for example, opening the notebook with TAB and automatically showing the cursor when the notebook is minimized. And also, you could allow players to walk through the door instead of having to open it))) But good job, well done!
What a concept! I really like the concept of speed dating turned out wrong! XD
The game itself is unique, and I actually interested in all the dialogue and character in the game!
Some feedback:
I think the main issue is the control scheme/button is all over the place, I suggest using any button near the WASD so the player can focus on that area only. I got really confused whether to use space when I skipping to the next tutorial dialogue or open my notebooks, and also, I can cue the next dialogue using enter but also use it to enter a room (?)
I think it'd be better to use one key for a specific task only, for example space is only for opening notebook feature, and enter is only for cueing the next dialogue or tutorial.
I found the font kinda hard to read because of the pixelation and handwritten style of it. Still readable, but I think there are other better suitable options :)
Overall, it is a really interesting game! I like how weird (in a good way) it is! :D
Yeah that's a valid point... I'm sure a simple re-mapping for the controls would do wonders for the quality of life of the game. You're def not the only one who has pointed out the controls. Thank you for the kind words though!
Interesting game! The controls are pretty hard, and the game crashed for me twice unfortunately :( Once asking someone to frown, and then on retry after the host introduced me to the game. The font was a bit hard to read as well. Nice premise, I thought it would be a humorous game, but turned out quite eery in the end!
Thank you! Sorry the game didn't run well for you... I wonder why that was. I didn't get to baseline test the game with lower-end machines, so maybe that was part of it. The font is definitely a good suggestion for an update - maybe an option to adjust the font size? Anyways I'm glad you still enjoyed
Really interesting concept! And the progressively spookier mood was fun. I did have a heck of a time trying to make sense of the controls though, as there were a few times my mouse was locked and trying to unlock it with the specified controls wasn't working. The concept and general gameplay loop was really engaging so I think if the control scheme was a bit more intuitive and smoothed out, that would fix the only issue I had playing! Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed it - yeah the controls being a bit finicky seems to be a common issue. I'd definitely need to fix that if I made it into any sort of a full game. Thank u for the feedback!
this was fun I love the lil twist, the dialogue is brilliant too!
Everything about this game was extremely well designed. The vibe, the plot twist. Good call.
The game takes an unexpected turn! Fits the theme perfectly! I love the visuals and the vibe you get! The dialogue sounds are disturbing but fits the game! Excellent game!
Nice puzzle/detective theme game. Love the atmospheric music.
I encountered a bug when ask the "charming date" to frown before the agent told me the "frown clue", which made me unable to do anything with the date until time ran out.
Overall, great experience!
aw dang that's unfortunate. thanks for pointing it out though. I must not have connected that dialogue route back to the start on that one :((. Maybe it's too late to change for the jam but I'll fix it later
Hello! The game is quite weird but has a really interesting concept. I found the lizard very quickly (not sure if it's random), but it felt a bit too easy. Maybe adding more difficulty options or different modes could make it more challenging next time. Otherwise, it's a great idea with a solid concept! By the way, if you're interested, feel free to check out my game too!
its random each time you play - i was definitely constrained by time for my writing though. The difficulty option is a great idea, though. Thanks for playing! I'll check out your game
It makes sense! Randomization keeps things fresh. Don't worry, it's still good ! And thank you for playing my game!
Really funny, well playing game! Nice work, and goodluck! :)
I loved the vibe of the game and the mystery solving element. It was fun to write notes on different suspects and have conversations with all of them. The game has a lot of potential to expand and have more features!
The atmosphere is very tense, the music gave me chills! I had to think hard, and every progression made me panic a bit. Very satisfied to get the lizard right on my first run!
The controls are difficult to get used to, I'm just confused where to position my hands. Great game overall, I like the concept!
The vibe was pretty nice! Visuals were also quite decent. Only thing was that the game was quite laggy
Man, this is hilarious! Took some time to figure out the controls but once I did, it felt good trying to reveal the secret lizard, lol. The room and the audio fit well with the theme and add more to the mystery. Well done!
Very cool vibe and loved the artstyle!
Super unique entry!
A chill experience! Finally I can find love! Please rate my game if you can! Game controls and explanation in the description!
Thanks for playing - I liked your game too :)
Story telling was very fun. It got me invested. Great game. Very unique take on the game jam!
Thank you!!
Amazing premise :O I came here for love but alas ended up like a stressed-out Sherlock Holmes... Great stuff <3 More comes should have in-game notebooks, love to see it!
(Would love volume sliders!!)
