I like the visual style and sound effects! Very interesting concepts and clean UI. I like the power plants monitor in the back. I didn’t understand the water thing at first and accidentally drained a lot of my resevior. I’m curious to see how the grades are calculated. Overall good job!

Developer

Actually grade calculations are pretty straightforward that I have an update loop to check the demand power if no supervisor request is there and if the current power is around demand power it increases the points. At the end of the level it gave the percentage which leads to target grades.

Gameplay loop is pretty good and idea is quite solid, it has quite a lot of potential. However, there are some critiques that I have.

Gameplay wise, not much issues, but the goal of the game can be much clearly stated. Players who start their first run may think that it is an endless survival game, and may not know that the goal is actually to get right amount of everything when auditor comes. (I mean I know there's a clock there, but players may miss it.)

The UI is kind of overwhelming at first, and the player would have to play around what each button / image would do, Since there is little difference between a button and an image, the player would easily get confused on which is interactable. (e.g. the red yellow green lights that indicate the levels looks like a button, and the bell just looks like an image.) Basically it is hard to distinguish between a button and an image.

Another thing about the UI is that the screen in the bottom left corner flashes events way too fast, and it is kinda hard to understand what they mean unless the player an understanding of nuclear controls(e.g. insertion rate decreased to 50%).

Good thing is that the game becomes more enjoyable after you start to understand what is going on as you play more, and I enjoyed trying to get better scores each day, as well as trying to optimize to get everything to become just right. Love the aesthetic as well.

ALSO this is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt lol. Thanks for reading

Developer

You're right in the UI and there are some sections that can benefit from it as you already suggested. I made some decisions and changes along the way and not sure about the "Insertion rate decresed to 50%". But that's the good point of entering the jam to receive these valuable feedbacks. :-) Thank you I appreciated .

Really enjoyable gameplay loop. It's simple and fun. At first i thought the game will continue forever lmao but the inspector screaming make the game become more enjoyable

After playing this game, I am quite confident I am qualified to be a nuclear power plant operator.

Really fun idea and the constant alarms going off and having to toggle on off only two buttons made for some really hilarious, but intense action. Loved the creativity here!

Really fun idea. Power plant on the monitor looks cool! Also our group is dads who dev! Noticed you're a dad as well!

Pretty cool, would be nice if the buttons were instead sliders so you could control how much of the rod and coolant you want to put in

Very simple. Seems a bit random and uncontrollable though. I like the grading system.

This is a great foundation for a power plant management sim! I liked the end of day grading and the intro explanations. Though, I did get confused a bit about how the buttons worked and impacted everything.

Cool game, but I wish there was more to do than two buttons.

Great game! now I know to not work a power plant when looking for a job... it would be a disaster!

I enjoyed this a lot! It shows how you can get interesting systems and dynamics with very few controls and variables. I tried something similar with my game for the last global game jam, check it out here if you like: https://elegantfish.itch.io/ggj2025

If you were going to expand this, I think upgrades would be nice, e.g. faster fill rate for the water reservoir, an additional set of fuel rods (maybe toggled separately from the first), etc.

Anyway, great job on this!

Developer

I've checked the game but I don't understand why you chose vertical aspect ratio instead of horizontal.

Pretty cool! I'm not fully sure what to do sometimes so I randomly toggle the switches and wish it resolves the issue but it was fun

Fun game, I wish more elements were introduced as it felt like each day was kind of the same but I understand it's hard with limited time and a 1 person team! Still had a great time playing

Really makes you feel like Homer Simpson. Loved the game!

Wow! This was solid. I'm not super familiar with this genre, but I think there are a lot of things that can be done here. It was a fun play!

I wish there was more! It takes a couple of work days to actually get the hang of the controls, and sometimes you can't really do anything about what's happening (I believe you can't voluntarily decrease energy output to meet demand?).  Anyhow, great game!
