How does the game fit the theme?
The dog needs to take care of a date, and "nothing could o wrong" on it, right? well, you are there to find out..!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made the dog sprites, the tentacles, the date and owner, and the sfx, plus music... all gdscript in godot made by me too.

Tile sets, and some ambiance sfx I bought from libaries on itch.io.

How many people worked on the game?

Interesting and simple game. I feel I was really struggling a lot with the minigames due to the paw's hitbox being unclear (I do like the design though). I also feel night one is really short compared to the following one.

Good entry overall!

Nice jam entry, I enjoyed playing it, at first I thought my task would be to distract "the lovers" from their date, but after I found first distraction source, I got the right idea of the game. Below is my likes and dislikes about this project:

For the things I specially enjoyed:

  • Simple but pretty tutorial, where you start in the doghouse
  • Very pretty artstyle and smooth dog animations
  • Variety of minigames to get rid of distractions
  • Big house to explore with simple platforming mechanics

Personally I struggled with these things:

  • Text typing effect is nice, but it's very slow so I had to wait it to read next word
  • Distraction arrows are confusing at first, because you don't know where they are pointing
  • Hard controlls on electric box minigame, I managed to fail 3 times before I understand how it works

Overall, you did a nice job and made a solid entry!

Orginally this doesn't look much, but actually this feels like one of the better "multi-tasking" games this jam in terms of playability, and that says a lot. The gameplay is very smooth and clear. The three different types of minigames are nicely balanced and help the gameplay a lot. The house is quite big but thanks god you add a running feature to the dog and it make the game so ncie to play. I found it a bit difficult to get into the attic with both running and walking strangely enough, but generally, it's quite quick getting from place to place. The difficulty is quite high, especially for the third day, and I do lose a few runs to that. Good job!

For a big criticism, I think it's very annoying to have the number of distractions starting at 1, where I don't think there is any distraction present in the game at that moment. It just made me run here and there trying to find that "missing" distraction. I also think both the stove and circuit box minigame has quite clunky controls, where it's quite hard to precisely place the cursor on the place where you want it to be, and the E button is not working for a quarter of the time.

Anyway, this is a surprisingly nice game! Well done!

Developer

You have no idea how thankful I am with these in depth reviews. Thanks a bunch for all the points. Difficulty at the last day is 100% too hard, and to be rebalanced for a next iteration. Fair also comments about the distraction management and the minigames, I also agree I need to polish those more so they are *crisp* and feel good. again, thanks for all these points, these ar ethe kind of feedback that really helps me grow as a developer.

Cool game, reminded me of ours! I liked the artsyle and concept.

BTW, I got 2 distractions at the end but score S somehow.

Developer

Thank you! I can see how we were similar haha I find that amazing. And yes! at the end the lovebar is the final scorer, made it easier for the final level... which still needs rebalancing XD

This is a great entry. Lots of fun and lots to do. The amount of content and mechanics is remarkable and very impressive for a single person team. Kudos on your hard work!

Developer

For sure some sleepless nights, but for these reviews its worth it, thanks a lot Josep!

Cool idea, great take on the theme, loved the art!

Developer

Thanks a lot! took some time but happy it was valuable

This was a really  fun game! Really cute and fits the theme nicely

Developer

Thanks for playing, btw now I ordered sushi because of you... thanks!

I like the idea! The pixel sizes for different sprites were really different to the other sprites though which looked strange.  However, the dog and tentacle animations were really good! I found it really hard to improve their love score, so I was confused, but cool game, well done on finishing it on time :)

Developer

Thank you! 100% agree, the difficulty has to be rebalanced and make it more clear what to do to have the Win state. about the pixels, I suck at seeing that haha so thanks for the feedback! any way or source wher ei can learn to identify this? I normally just do stuff that I like and put it on the game XD

I really like this pixel art youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@BJGpixel, but For me when I do pixel art in games, I try to keep the pixel sizes roughly the same for each sprite and keep the art of the sprites as cohesive (similar style) as possible. I hope this helped! Good luck in the game jam.

Developer(+1)

Already subscribed! thanks a bunch for the resource, will make the art more similar and aligned next time :)

What a fun game!  Night three was very challenging, but I loved the art style and the variety of mini games.  Awesome work!

Developer

Night 3 is quite unfair! 100% haha so thanks for playing until then, we will rebalance in future iterations. Happy you enjoyed the game overall tho!

Great use of the theme, strong aesthetics and the audio cues were well done too

Developer

cat sounds were a pain but we got it, thanks a lot! you should know about sfx, your game was amazing

Submitted(+1)

Sad to say, but at day 3 I started to REALLY hate those cats d_d

Cute art, great idea, fits theme so well.

Didn’t like among us wires minigame, hard to tell if I’m pulling wire or not behind paw, that is also moving too slow.

Was fun to play for sure.

Developer

haha I know... imagine developing the game and hearing those cats the whole last 3 days!

thanks for the real feedback.. yes! I wanted to add a sfx when taking the wires, and also add 2 paws and they "close" once they grab the wire haha also make it more like a wire... but time goes so fast in a Jam! maybe for future iterations (btw the cat in the attic was going to be the Ex of the date... bot oh well!)

Thanks for playing tho! your cooking game was fun ! already rated i :)

So cute, I really like the story/concept and the mini games to solve the distractions.

Developer

Thank you! more minigames incoming if I work more into this game

I loved the art!

Your game is very good. Your idea was very creative. Congratulations.
Developer

thanks a bunch!

Submitted(+1)

absolutely loved the idea, the chaos in trying to fix everything and the justification fits the theme greatly. I really like the idea of minigames as a way to solve a distraction. I do think the game maybe needed a little more time for polishing, since I think there are some little problems with some distractions that would make the game a lot more enjoyable. Still a great entry and really fun to play, although the last level felt a little bit unfair, I don't know maybe I am bad haha

Loved it

Developer

I am happy you enjoyed the game, and no worries, 100% was unfair..!! I need to tweak the balance and work on the polish, and I missed the time to add some features and "story" (the "Ex" of the date was going to be a distraction in the attic, not a cat) but I guess part of the fun in Jams is to do the best you can with the crunch :)
You game was awesome btw, thanks for checking out mine

Theme was fully respected, i glitched at the computer but i had time to see everything i think. The voice remind me of 'sims' haha. Great work.

Submitted(+1)

I was trying the game when the level got glitched. I don't what the problem is. All I can say is that I liked the idea and I was excited to try it but I couldn't :(

Developer

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! at what point you got the glitch and what Os are you using? I would like to adapt the game so no one experiences this...! sorry for the bad experience :(

Submitted(+1)

This is how it looks like:

My OS is windows 7 (my pc is old) and I'm guessing the problem is with my system.

Developer(+1)

Weird.. looks like it affected mostly the tileset... sorry about that, hope you can play it in another pc later!

Submitted(+1)

Fun game, I really like it.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Fun game and an even more fun concept! Took me a few tries to get it down but pretty fun little mini-game filled date night game it was especially playing from a pet's POV.

Submitted

Your art was really beautiful! Only thing that i think would be better is the controls cause the control scheme was kinda weird, perhaps it could have wasd movement too

Developer

Completely agree and will update the controls after the Jam, looks like it was a general topic, thanks a lot for playing!
