Visually the game looked great! Loved all the effects and models. Only thing was that i couldnt figure out how to actually play, I reached the point at which i had to make a campfire and such but i couldnt figure out how to use any of the items i had picked up, perhaps an in game tutorial would be nice, just like how the paddling text was shown :D

How does the game fit the theme?
After a fight with a storm, a stranded sailor finds a peaceful, idealic island. Finally some rest, food and water. However as night falls and it gets colder, survival becomes pertinent and their situation takes an unexpected turn.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Oh wow, my thalassophobia just woke up 🤣 Nice visuals! The paddling sometimes gets stuck and i dont think it is adding any speed to the boat. Also i noticed there is weird pivot on the camera when on boat (especially when looking down or up). But otherwise cool!
Very nice narrative experience! Many attention to details, like the shaking when it is cold. The gameplay is minimalistic but nice and well executed. The low poly visuals are gorgeous. Good atmospheric sound too. And the end... pretty cool! The only weak point is that it hardly fits the theme. That aside, very good job, congrats!
Thanks, I started the game kind of late but I wanted to make sure that the details made up for the brief playtime, so i'm happy you notice and appreciate them too.
I suppose the issue I had with making it fit the theme was the idea of finding a beautiful island where nothing went wrong up until the end, which many games did where the theme was interpreted ironically and there was in fact a twist where something went wrong. I can see how the player's already dire situation of survival kind of goes against the idea of nothing being wrong in the first place, but I tried to make the island in a way where it solved the player's problems and they had a brief moment of relief when they built the campfire and they get a chance to look at the sky. Perhaps I didn't pace it well enough as there isn't enough 'peaceful' time.
Anyway I appreciate your feedback 👍
It's a nice short adventure! The visuals are phenomenal and I can definitely see this expanding into a full game in the future! Great job!
I really enjoyed my time with this! Its artsytle is simple yet pretty and the gameplay is polished. It's short but it's a nice little adventure.
ps. I really liked looking up to drink from a coconut! That was really fun and I wish more games had cool little gameplay details like that!
Again thank you for the feedback.
I played the game and I liked that it was intuitive. I wasn't sure about controls, but then I realized it is simple. Paddling was funny, clunky, but in a good way. I liked visuals a lot and the random events that happened. I don't know what to add, it is lovely survival game with a good story. Well made!
I couldn't figure out how to play it? I would love to try it out.
Interesting and atmospheric experience, but branches are kinda hard to find in the dark :)
Dang, that was awesome. More cinematic than game, but still an awesome experience. Well done on the atmosphere and feel of it. Short and sweet, I hope tortle lives a long life.
When started playing this game, I truly felt some AAA stuff in it. The first mission to collect the rocks and stick for the campfire was good feature in the game. It hooked me to the nostalgic Forest (well harmless in this case) vibes.
But i was not able to find the last one rock and two sticks on the whole Island.
Anyway, good work, keep it up.
