super fun game! takes a bit to get used to, but once you get used to it, it just feels really good to play
i really like the way the exchange mechanic was implemented, i like the variety of all the different weapons, abilities, and arenas, even felt a bit overwhelming, even after beating it 2 times im not sure if i fully understood it lol
i like that exchanging brought you back to full health, cool way to incentivize the player to try out different stuff, the dash felt kind of useless though, it really didnt get you that far. but other than that, the game feels pretty good to play!
great game, very cool use of the theme.
Little tricky to get the feel for it but It was pretty fun after that... the variety was good but was also the confusing part
Hey there, I am trying to get other to re-submit their reviews for my game if possible...it was deleted and removed from the Jam on accident based on a technicality which was solved between the Jam Host and a particular asset used in the game...please if you have time, energy, and/or generosity to re-saved your ratings/reviews for the game. I am going through and re-saving yours given my browser kept your rating saved data on my end...but it looks like I lost all 73 reviews and ratings from my end.... :( best of luck to you in the Jam
Sorry for the inconvenience if you have a chance to rate/re-rate
Was really fun once you get the hang of it, but as others have said, it's a bit tricky to pick up at first, which is a shame as that can deter a lot of people from seeing how fun it can really be! I think the inclusion of a tutorial, as well as clearer UI would help a lot. Overall though it was one of the most fun takes on the theme so far!
The exchange mechanic was nice! I liked the variety on the weapons, the bosses and the stage. Though, the art and the sounds need some improvement. I also would've liked UI on the cooldowns. Overall a pretty fun game!
This is actually kind of a hidden gem. This game has some strong foundations and a great use of the exchange mechanic. Some thoughts:
- Once you get going and understand the game, the combat is snappy enough and the boss attacks are telegraphed just enough for players to block or move away.
- Incentivising players to swap weapons by having it restore health is a great mechanic and I applaud you for that! Otherwise, I can just imagine me sticking to a single weapon I enjoy and just use it. That said, the blue musket is extremely strong and easy to use that I actually just end up sticking to it and never took any more damage after that.
- As many have already mentioned in the comments, the game is quite difficult to pick up and play immediately. The game can benefit significantly from a more thorough tutorial that helps explain the mechanics much better.
- The changing arena is actually really fun to play around with, great addition to help mix up the battle either between bosses or during the boss fight.
Very fun and entertaining combat game actually!
I really like the boss design of this game they all seem unique and do different things and looks to be at random. Only thing is its hard to tell what your cooldowns are in this game. I can see the arrow going transparent when I use the scarf but I don't know when it comes back so im often trying to hit the enemy and die trying to attack.
You are thrown in the deep end that makes the game little harder too pickup, I love the fact that scene changes throught fight, Nice work, just need a little bit of hand holding in the start.
This is such a great game. The controls are very responsive and the swap mechanic is really cool. I didn't totally get it at first but it became so much fun when I did.
The scarf gave me powers that were unbelievable, shooting off and picking up hammers. I fought the shifting the goo creature with varying swappable weapons (great use of the theme) Also appreciated the changing and challenging levels!
I found it pretty fun! And it was great to work with Lion Yawn.
Make sure to read the info section before playing it!
The game was pretty hard to pick up, but once you get it it pays off pretty well. I like the idea of constructing your build from the different bosses, and there was a really good variety of powers, especially for a 1 month game.
It takes some time to pick up on mechanics, and some skills like the red crosshair seems unfair from both the player and boss side, but all in all, a very fun and quirky experience, with a very good implementation of the theme.
Nice work!
Was very confusing boss fights and the controls didn't make entirely sense? Sometimes it feels like I just can't attack or take abilities anymore. However, when I could attack and use all the abilities it was very fun.
Had a lot of trouble understanding how the game works, but after I did the game was amazing, it is complex and has a lot of layers on the gameplay, it's also very fun. But the blue guy It's completly anoying
I had no idea how to use the items, and i tryed. So i tried to last as long as possible. I like the fact the environnement changes a lot, and the boss paterns are pretty neat. I just wished i knew how to defeat them.
Edit: i have no idea why the comment was posted 3 times sorry.
I had a bit of trouble understanding what's going on at all. You're thrown in directly with all sorts of controls, different bosses, and then there's also the environment. A tutorial where mechanics are added one by one would have helped me get into the game. Overall, though, many things seem coherent and diverse. The music and sound effects fit well, the changing levels and the weapons hits the theme of the jam very well.
Glad you liked the music!
This is the best use of theme ive seen so far. Good job!
The vibes were immaculate. I love the character designs and environments
Very fun, a lot of items to deal with. I downloaded it because in the full screen don't work in m y browser. GG !
i like how the environments changed and also that you could take the bosses weapon.
