Good job! Will come and play it more thoroughly, trying to get through a basic test run and at least give it a try! Trying to get to everyone I can!
3.75/5 I like how the gameplay felt in this game!
Hey there, I am trying to get other to re-submit their reviews for my game if possible...it was deleted and removed from the Jam on accident based on a technicality which was solved between the Jam Host and a particular asset used in the game...please if you have time, energy, and/or generosity to re-saved your ratings/reviews for the game. I am going through and re-saving yours given my browser kept your rating saved data on my end...but it looks like I lost all 73 reviews and ratings from my end.... :( best of luck to you in the Jam
Sorry for the inconvenience if you have a chance to rate/re-rate
Art of the game looks very good but i break one star judging by the fact that they are third party assets. Still you used them very well in the game i think.
I like the attack patterns of bosses but the overall boss combat is not very fun and well designed in my opinion. The reaons i think that is, bosses have a large healthpool and it is almost impossible to avoid their attacks. You get damag even if you teleport to the mage.
All in all, it'a very good looking game with cute graphics but gameplaywise it didn't appeal to me. Nonetheless i think it's a good piece of work. I wish you best of luck in future projects
Good project loved the exchange mechanics and artsyle in general! Great MC spritework and animations.
The main issue was the bugs on entering the new area, I just got stuck offscreen all the time I went on the left or right from the main hub, right after the previous arena. Also the exchange of elements on the right whitch was a little slow(the orbit should be a little smaller, the third element many times offscreen during the fight and tutorial).
And the game is too short, really wanted to play more!
Great project.
Excellent are style and a really well-executed core swapping mechanic! I echo the other comments calling for enemy attacks to damage themselves after you swap places. Great work!
Wow super impressed with the game feel in this game. The fights, especially with the swap places boss, felt incredibly fast paced but also fair. Felt really good to play, great job!
The visual are nice, the player attack animation looks super smooth. The control feel nice, and the music are cool too. The gameplay are interesting, I like how the two bosses have different approach to the theme which makes the gameplay feel very different.
The bosses are cool, tho the boss on the right feel a bit too easy compare to the right one, as the boss rarely attack you if you just stay inside the fire ring.
But still, really cool game!
The hardest part for me is having to f5 every time I die lol, I like how each boss has an unique mechanic with the exchange theme, good job!
I'm starting to realize how important some of the QoL elements are. Thanks again for testing it out : )
Fun game and creative take on the theme, I think bosses attacks should hit them when you switch places, that would make the combat way more fun.
I love this idea!
Nice, cute game! Good job on the art and music selection, and props to whoever did the Menu Screen, it's gorgeous. Good job on the movement, it feels nice and snappy, the character moves exactly how you want it to. You have two nice mechanics: The place swap mechanic would benefit from the boss attacks hitting her when you swap, but the color change mechanic... I just loved it, it's really unique, challenging and engaging, great work!
If I could say one thing, on the left side boss, the circle attack that closes in on you feels like it lasts a bit too much. As in, I'd wait for the attack to disappear, go in to hit the boss, and still get hit by the attack when I can't see it anymore or I can just barely see it. And this is probalby just me, but I feel that the character could use a tiny bit more range in her attack. Overall, a nice game, good job!
Thanks! I haven't yet heard anyone talk about the color change mechanic so it's nice to hear that you liked it. I kindof rushed the color change mechanic at the very end so I was a bit worried about it. Thanks again for playing, I think my overall takeaway is that a lot of polish would go a long way for something like this >.<
The teleporting is really a good idea.
Teleporting is fun. I wish I could've added more teleporting tricks >.<
Cool aesthetic and mechanic is very creative
Thank you!
Cool game! I wish the boss got hit by it's own attacks when I switched places, that would have been so satisfying!
I did consider that at some point, but couldn't get around to implement it. I was thinking like a final move for each boss where you had to do some moves consecutively.
Visuals, Sounds, and boss design are really good. I like the controls and how they were implemented. a couple of bugs here and there but switching locations with the boss is a really good Idea.
I agree. Switching with objects is a great idea.
The boss design, art, and theme are amazing, but the attack is too short and the VFX is confusing, and the game is very buggy.
Thanks so much for playing! Mind if I ask what made the VFX confusing or if there were particular ones in mind? I really wanna know to better improve for next time.
When the player or boss is hit, the VFX lasts a long time and consumes a lot of space, the track in the player looks strange in the pixel art style.
Sounds anf effects are so good, also i like the art and idea. Enjoyed!
Thanks for playing! I liked your game as well! Although it was super difficult >.<
Cool game, charming and fun, but maybe the reach of the sword is too small for the blue boss (I struggled to land hits consistently with how fast they leave).
Overall keep up the good work!
Skill issue. Just kidding! I spent waaay too much time tweaking and adjusting a bunch of small details that I ran out of time towards the end. It definitely helps to hear from other people besides me since I was starting to find it too easy.
I'm jealous of how good the pixel art is of your game! :D Good jobb!!
Thank you so much for playing! It was my very first game jam/game ever so I'm happy with it. Besides the main menu screen which I asked a friend to draw, I bought the rest since I have no artistic talent >.<
I think I've beat the game, even though there is no hint of my progress.
But the game is well playable.
Thank you so much for playing! Global progress between scenes was on my to-do list but then it ended up on my scrap for time list >.<
Cute little game but I did notice two problems, in the elements level you can run back from the start and clip out of the world haha and also I had to manually reset the game after I died!
Really good work otherwise though :)
Thank you so much for playing! I think I know what you're talking about but I caught it waaay too late before I submitted it.
Both of the main mechanics are really fun, and the boss designs and abilities are really interesting. I would say some quality of life changes would greatly improve it, such as smoothing the movement during the attack, which feels a bit slow and totally stops your movement, and improving the transition from a scene to the other, but the core of the idea and design is really good. Lastly, I absolutely love the main menu art.
Than you! I put a lot of time into those three parts and I can say that I may have neglected some of the QOL things. I'll have to tell my friend you loved the main menu art, it's the only original art piece throughout the whole thing lol. I loved your game btw!
