Discovered it during my playthrough of the top 20. I'm not surprised it so high- it's one of my favourites! I can imagine it as a bigger game!

Really cool idea! A few little things. A bit of telegraphing where Vanclair will teleport to would help and also reducing the nameplate cooldown at the start of fights would feel less punishing for dying. I think a half second immortality against future hits would make the fight feel easier, or at least some more knock back. A couple of times I died because I sort of got stuck in the path of his attacks and took 2 or 3 hits in one attack. The artwork is superb and the music really fits with the aesthetic.
your pixel art is amazing :) loved the idea, my only comment is that the movement could feel a little tighter, maybe less slide-y
This game is beautiful. I liked the art a lot. Though the movements aren't the best and make the battles bit complicated. It would have been nice also to have been more generous on the craft.
This game is very polished (e.g. the camera panning, the UI, etc.) and the use of the theme is creative as well. If I were to have any complaints it would have to be that the difference in difficulty between the first 2 bosses is probably too great. The first boss doesn't really seem like it wants to fight me whilst the second one is doing everything it can to kill me. Despite this, I liked your game.
Great take on the theme! But similar to other games with a similar idea, I often forget the recipes quickly, so I only did like 2 of them instead of all four. Also, weapons having a lunge seems weird combination with bosses having contact damage, it's very easy to damage yourself on attacking an enemy. Still, really nice art, really good music and sfx, good job!
I really liked the game feel and looks, only suggestion that I have is to maybe add a default weapon / action that the player can use to cause some minor damage and then upgrade it with the makeshift weapons, Overall Good Job!
Well, the old guardian doesn't give me much of a chance to grab ingredients when he sometimes rushes over them and takes everything for himself... And the recipes should apply whenever you've got the ingredients for one thing...
Amazing, I really liked the art style and the feeling in game, great mood overall. The makeshift was good, and forces to find the appropriate weapon for each situations against Vanclair. I wish we could find some "secret" recipe sometimes maybe, (altho I cannot be sure there was none...). The controls were good, but a bit hard when you get hit, since you often bounce without control and end up loosing 2 life in a row, or even 3 sometimes, which feels a bit unfair, and requires an almost perfect boss fight to finish it. Other than that, great work, and really charming pixel art!

Great game! This really embodies the makeshift theme. The art is really amazing too. Like others I would love to see the recipe list again after the first level.
Can't remember the last time I wanted to keep trying at a jam game so badly! Good controls, great use of the theme. I love how any invalid recipes just shoot out the ingredients rather than consuming them anyway. It would have been nice to have a way to review those recipes without restarting the game. Vanclair is really tough, I think it could use a lot clearer telegraphing for precisely when it's going to attack, as well as when it is about to reappear from thin air. I found myself dead multiple times because I happened to be in the spot he was teleporting to, and that wasn't fun. Overall, it's a great game with some minor balance issues that I will probably play again since I had to walk away from the frustrations of Vanclair! Amazing work.
very fun! i nice sugestion would be to have a visual aid for which dirrection the first boss will be rushing. The sprites are crazy good you are a great artist.
