The idea is a really good one! Although the controls are a little slippery I enjoyed the concept!

Thanks!

The concept of breaking blocks after you've been on them and having to break all of them before going to the next level is quite interesting, but the controls were so hard that it was tough to get through the levels. I love the fact that you actually made the music yourself when so many others just take stuff from online, but it could have used a more typical "harmony + melody + bass" logic to feel slightly less random, and using another instrument would have already just made a massive difference because this synth can sort of destroy your ears if you listen to it for too long aha.

Developer

With the music I was trying to make it sound retro.

Submitted

Indeed, but if you listen to some retro game themes, you'll notice the synths they used were a lot less harsh, and still followed baselines of music theory. What program are you using for music? If you want to learn a bit about making retro music, this video can be really useful:

Undertale's soundtrack manages to sound retro by using soundfonts in FL Studio, and it produces an absolutely amazing end result! I'm not saying you have to copy what he did exactly, but it can be great for future experiences :)

Developer

I made it with Petaporon and I used the built in chiptune.

Submitted

Oh that does significantly limit your options aha.

In case you're interested, LMMS is a free DAW which can get you some pretty cool results if you use some soundfonts.

Awesome job! This was quite unique in my opinion and I think it has a lot of potential.

It took me a while to get use to the controls though

But overall, well done and keep it up

Hello.

I have some feedback for your game:

- Firstly, the controls are really bad in my opinion. You can't jump with space, which makes everything harder, you use W instead. Furthermore, you can't jump unless you are going off a ledge. Additionally, the jump height is not high enough.

- Secondly, the "brick" mechanic is an interesting concept, although poorly executed.  It takes almost no time for the brick to despawn and you didn't even tell me ( at the tutorial ) how bricks despawned.

- Speaking of the tutorial, you should have mentioned that I can only go to the next level if I break all bricks.

- Furthermore, the PLAY button would just not work sometimes.

- Additionally, I do not like spikes. The fact that they are bigger than a tile makes every death caused by them feel unfair.

- Speaking of deaths, why do I die if I jump after the top of the screen? Makes no sense to me.

- Lastly, the music is really loud and annoying ( Note: I know the music in my game is also annoying ).

This is where I'd put a score/win screen in my other "reviews".  However,  due to the reasons I listed ( especially the controls ), I just could not beat your game. I'm sorry.

Thanks for the honest feedback.

Great art!
I really like the concept.
Next time try to make the music less loud.

Developer

There is no way to do that inside the game engine, but I did go into audacity and made it less loud but I should have done more.

I like the game concept, it is a fun gameplay loop. The controls felt a bit sloppy and I felt like it was weird how going above the screen also kills you, but overall well done!

Developer

Thanks!

Hey,

Really good take on the concept, visuals and sounds. Really love how the game flows.

Maybe adding a coyote timer on your player because your game focuses more on the technique of platformer and it feels so strict.

Cheers!!!

Developer

I'll look into it. Thanks for the feedback!

Super addictive gameplay! A bit difficult to get the hang of at first, but it was really fun the more I played! Great interpretation of the theme, too, and this whole project has a lot of potential! Massive well done to you! :D

Really fun game, I liked the puzzles, though it was difficult, it was fun to play. I thought that the concept was pretty good, and has a lot of potential.  I did how ever think that level eight was a little too difficult.

Developer (1 edit)

I wad thinking I was going to make 15 levels and wanted to add a metal indestructible tile but I didn't have the time so I ended up making the last 3 levels way too difficult. If you go to level in the options menu you can choose any level if you're stuck.

Well, controls were hard to me, i need practice!

Developer (1 edit)

I was a bit rushed so I wish I could have playtested more but I think it turned out pretty really good.

Controls are little bit hard, But system is Great.

Developer

What do you mean by system?

Submitted

That you can destroy block by jumping into them and gate to next scene would open when all the blocks are gone... I guess that is games "system"

Developer

I would call that game mechanics.

Submitted

Oh,  that's more plausible, sorry...

I really enjoyed the application of the theme to this game.  Had fun playing it - cheers!

Developer

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Submitted

That was super entertaining. Hard but I really enjoyed it :)

The jumping controls felt a bit wierd at first, but I kinda grew to like them. Cool game!
