  • Theme usage is minimal. The gimmick is cute but a bit simple. The implementation is juicy but also the camerawork was a bit nauseating esp on the bouncy pad; locking or damping the vertical camera movement i think can go a long way.

What do you like about your game?
I really love hearing about color palettes on the NES or SNES and to I'm glad to have implemented palette swaps in this game.

I really enjoyed this platformer! It feels really good! When it says next level, see if you like that filled in so you can't see the background

Nice game with a banger soundtrack!  It was pretty hard too, but I got through it.  I quacked up a lot to it too!

incredibly well designed platformer, so much content here and it all felt super tight. the music was super enjoyable the whole way through and it gave me crash bandicoots vibes. I would like some more easy sections to break up the pacing but wow that was great, really a complete package

Developer

Yeah I do wish I made things a bit easier but I’m glad that you enjoyed it regardless!

That was a lot of fun.  One suggestion - when dying and restarting, the level should have a consistent state.  Seemed like it just continued in same state it was when I died.

Developer

Yeah I didn’t think much of it since I tried to make it so that you can just get back into it once you respawn, but I’ll be sure to make improvements on future games. Thank you!

I feel like you offered me a gimmick platformer, and did a bait-and-switch giving me a fantastic one with tight controls and just-right levels.

I noticed it looks like you’re suffering from particle load lag when they first pop up on screen. This wasn’t solved AFAIK for web build in 4.0, but two solutions were provided by a dev here: https://forum.godotengine.org/t/handling-particle-shader-compilation-lag-in-godot-4-web-compatibility-renderer/36170/2

Thanks! I’ll definitely look into this!

This is incredible thank you

Hell yeah thanks!

Very fun game! Had a blast playing it. Looks very polished. Got some Geometry Dash flashbacks playing it.

woah this was absolutely incredible! im a big fan of platformers and this really nailed the style and design sensibilities of platformers from the snes era really well! i really love the core mechanic of the game, nothing too complicated and its easy to understand! the game revolves around this one-button press design but the variety of actions allowed you to make so much out of it! the level design makes really good use of each of the abilities and the levels have a really good difficulty curve to it in my opinion. one nitpick, it felt pretty weird to be able to move away from the spring before it launches. caused me to die a handful of times because of it, but im not too sure if its because im so used to Super Mario World and the other 2D Mario games where when the player lands on a spring it locks the their x position to where they landed on the spring until they get launched. also as somebody who enjoys speedruns, a level timer would have been so good here, the character controls and physics feel so good making it for a good speedrun game!

the presentation is also incredible, again reminding me of some snes platformer gamers (has some playful vibes like Yoshi's Island)! the pixel art is just so pleasant to look at, with each entity and tile being both clean in its visuals and clear towards what their is function within the context of the game (im a big duckbert fan)! also love the visual flavor with the dithering in the backgrounds and the UI, it looks really nice! the audio is also extremely fun to listen to and has great communicative feedback! the three songs in the game are also unbelievable bangers, they go hard!

this game feels like the perfect small package, was so sad to reach the end and wish there was more! wonderful entry, definitely up there for me as one of my favorites from the jam so far! great work!

Yooo I never noticed that with mario world the spring locks the player in place, imma have to look into that. I did feel it weird being able to walk off the spring but just didnt pay much attention to it. Thanks for that!

I’m glad you enjoyed the game!

very well polished, good old platforming fun.

thanks for being generous with the checkpoints.

didn't get far enough to see the palette swapping though ):

Developer

well the palette swapping was really only used on duckbert, but almost all sprites are grayscale and use a palette shader I made

I love everything about this game! The amount of polish here is really amazing. I also love the ending because it's so simple but so nice and wholesome. Also it's funny how it just turns into Flappy Bird at one point :) I just wish there were more different abilities, but it does feel like every ability has been used in every possible way, which is great! Overall just a really fun and perfect little game!

Developer

Hell yeah thanks! I wish I could have done more but taking two days off the jam really had me crunching at the end lmao

Nice game

I liked heaviness of the duck. Good platformer, fun mechanics and pretty ducking cool music.

I liked how "ducky" the soundtrack is, and the jump sound effect is so satisfying too! Overall I think you did a good job with the game concept and the presentation was simple but very charming

I loved this little game. I love the level design, the animations and the effects used. I love the different ideas you came up with for the different sections and the creative uses of each of the powers. I also enjoyed the weight of the duck forcing you to commit to jumps, and the snappy respawn upon inevitably failing. I thought the music and sound effects were charming and wasn't expecting area 2's bgm to go so hard.

Really enjoyed my time and was sad to use the 'end' ability

Developer

😭Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

doesn't work on firefox, but works great in chromium. great polish, definitely hits that retro vibe! I think the idea of switching between different allowed actions is pretty interesting

Great game! I did have some technical difficulties with the levels loading and some of the platforms I kept falling through. Overall, very solid entry!

Really cool game! I liked the "actions" mechanic a lot, and I was really curious to see what other actions the game would introduce, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish 2-3.

The addition of the Quaks in the music was cool.

(The game lagged a lot for some reason after getting the action the first time; I guess that's a WebGL problem.)

Some platforming segments felt too long and on the verge of being infuriating. And I refuse to believe that you made the game on your own because clearly, the idea of having springs on moving platforms was created by Satan himself. (That's a joke, by the way.)

There were many instances where instead of falling on the spring, I fell on the floor beneath it, and without a jump, there was nothing I could do.

Overall, great game,Really fun 4 Stars!

Developer

Yeah I may have had a bit if help with these level designs thanks to the demonic arts 🤫

Thanks though!

Probably my favorite game out of this jam. Reminds me of the SNES era in the best way possible.
