Looking For Games to Review in YouTube Shorts

I recently started a YouTube Shorts series where I review games that can be completed in under an hour. My purpose for creating this series was to give back to the itch.io community by highlighting some awesome projects that I feel need more attention. If you know a game you think I should review, let me know.

Link to channel: https://m.youtube.com/@popshoppacks/shorts

Requirements for consideration:

  • Must be SFW
  • No horror please ;-;
  • The average user should be able to complete the game in less than an hour
  • Must be free (I am poor lol)
  • I prefer story driven and puzzle games, but I'll check out pretty much anything

EDIT: Thanks for all the suggestions! I just began a new job, so I'll be checking out and reviewing projects over the weekend when I have time. If you would like to dm me privately through Discord, my username is pop_shop_packs

EDIT EDIT: Hey y'all! I know it's been a while and I wanted to give a small update. My irl job turned out to be more time consuming (and soul crushing) than anticipated. You're welcome to continue posting in this thread, but be aware it might be a few weeks before I can get to making videos

Yo ! Here's a short game that might meet most of your criteria https://neirullet.itch.io/nake except maybe the point about completion time since there's no ending per se and the last point since it's not a puzzle game per se either. If neither of these aspects are disqualifying then I'd love to get your feedbacks, if they are then thanks anyway for the initiative.

Yo, perhaps you could review my platformer game A Superplanet Called KG? It's a compilation of 5 smaller platformer games that each take around 20-30 minutes to beat.

I'll have to check it out!

The average user should be able to complete the game in less than an hour

What about endless games which doesn't have strict play time? If you're skilled, you could play for long time but if you're suck at it, you could end the game in couple minutes.

I'm trying to focus on games which have a clear start and finish. Endless runners, like Temple Run, do not have a satisfying conclusion due to the nature of the gameplay. If you enjoy those types of games, that's fine, but I personally enjoy playing and talking about games that you can 100% complete during a lunchbreak.

Thanks for the answer.

If you want a short game, here's a good one I've made : Immortal Monster.

Is a horror themed game ok if it's not too scary? Probably not, right? Good luck with your channel anyway! :)

Hey!

It looks like my game fits pretty well with your guidelines! It's short and story driven (story isn't totally fleshed out just yet but yeah), and it does have some small puzzle elements to it. It's short (about 15 to 20 mins) because it's a bite-sized portion of a much bigger project, so stay tuned for more if you like it!

Grass Elemental Demo (demo): https://wasabiiii.itch.io/grass-elemental-demo-demo

I totally relate to your "no horror" rule btw... I HATE cheap jumpscares...

Why can't there be more threads like this one?

Hi! I checked out your channel and I really like it!

I just released here yesterday my game Bilo: Essenol. It's a cute colorful 2d platformer that has a story you uncover as you play the game. It will probably will take a bit less than an hour to beat so it should fit your channel.

Here is the link: https://bilothefirst.itch.io/biloessenol

and trailer

Posted the link to a project I'm working on. There's plenty to explore with hidden chest, timed speed runs and exploration. Would appreciate some feedback.

You can check if it's suitable here. https://new-leaf-games.itch.io/aplomb-the-lazy-ninja

Hi! I just subscribed to your YT channel. I'd like to DM you my game if possible:

Hi there! We're a non-profit that aims to make SFW games that are fun to play, but can also be educational.

In Lamplight Hollow , you explore a new world through lucid dreaming with a crew of helpful (or not) characters. https://jag.itch.io/lamplight-hollow

In ADRIFT, you explore an abandoned spaceship. https://jag.itch.io/adrift

UnEarth is an engaging RPG where you explore a chaotic new world. https://jag.itch.io/unearth

HEY,

Try mine painting game ,where you simply paint graffiti and etc, with a spray paint, the game is sandbox so you can just simply film short where you just paint smth, and also the game is now on sale 100%(so its free)

Hi! I made a game called Molegan's Quest for the Brackeys Jam 2023.2! During the jam I updated the game based on player feedback. Molegan's Quest is an action platformer with a cryptic story hidden beneath the surface. I hope you like it :)

Game: https://keveatscheese.itch.io/molegans-quest

Trailer:

if you like rage games I have one for you it's a 2D 1bit rage platformer in which you don't control the  player but can only place blocks if you like this here the link https://thetwocs.itch.io/the-overlord

This is such a fun concept!

Hi there! I think you'll be interested in my short sci Fi VN Lamprey. It's a sci Fi story about four coworkers who become trapped after a failed experiment with an AI. Download free here: https://cross-couloir.itch.io/lamprey

This looks really cool, thanks for the suggestion ^.^

Yo, I recently release the demo for my game, it takes around 40 minutes to finish.

In this game you launch youself from one planet to another while using their gravity fields to modify your trajectory.

  • It can be little challenging and the difficulty raises considerably if you attempt to take all the gems.

You have a good channel but  I think you should turn the content around to make it more fun. Instead of making a 1 hour long indie game videos, make a playlist with a title like "How much longer can I stand this shitty game" It would be more funny and you can play any game, "the worse the better" and if the game turns out to be good you play it for an hour.

Anyways here our shitty indie game. I can give you a key if you join our discord and message me.

That's a funny concept, but it's one that would be better suited for a channel that already makes content of laughing at games. The purpose of my channel is to bring attention to indie games that I genuinely enjoy and talk about why I like them.

A bit ago Wasabi made a thread that shouted out a handful of content creators. Maybe one of them would be interested in your idea?

I think you might like this game that I made for #TeamSeas! https://akking-studio.itch.io/teamseas

I may actually have a game that fits this criteria very well.

The game is called "Don't Be Stupid".

fair warning.. read the comments before you play it.

Its not horror its just a psychedelic mess.

Looks trippy! How long does it take to complete do you think?

until you are suitably maddened. it has no end.

I would recommend looking through the GBJam 11 submissions and winners! There's a bunch of really good Game Boy and Game Boy-style games there :)

https://hodslate-productions.itch.io/bane-of-oakenshade

if you like local multiplayer games then you can play APES OF ORDER a platformer fighter that has game games like Cod but you will need to have one other person to play

Here’s our first game, a short platformer about a duck who can only jump twice.

Someone said puzzle games? I made 3 unfinished puzzle game prototypes but I think they are too bad...

But I know three good puzzle games, they are all small:

https://escada-games.itch.io/starcatcher

https://kuviman.itch.io/linksider

https://kultisti.itch.io/sulka

And a little great game for ten minutes:

https://ger0436.itch.io/a

There is a small platformer game I have been working on for a while but it is still in development. So far there is only one proper level so the game should be completable within an hour for the average player. Here is the link if you want to play it: https://blobbyweirdthing.itch.io/cubic-void

I have a good game you might want to try. Hopefully you get to make a video on this but its ok if you don't.

Its paid but i will give it for free for you!
