Hi folks,

Sorry to hear you've been having issues with the game, the crash was related to our winding down of the Loot Rascals servers and we think we've hopefully been able to fix this issue on PC now. There is a new build of Loot Rascals live on Itch so you use the Itch app to play the game you'll be able to update via that and if not you'll need to redownload the zip file from your Itch account. This should hopefully fix this crash on death/winning issue.

Please let us know if you have any more issues with crashes, the quickest way to get in contact with us is our support@hllwpnds.com email.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Unfortunately we are no longer able to support logging into Loot Rascals via Google or Facebook when running the stand alone version of Loot Rascals. You are still able to access the online functionality by loading the game via the Itch.io app which is available for free here: https://itch.io/app

Let us know if you have any more issues.

Loot Rascals - https://hollowponds.itch.io/lootrascals

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  There is no time limit on redeeming a key.

If you go onto the download page for Loot Rascals, can you see a Steam key? You can get to the download page for Loot Rascals by going to this page (https://hollowponds.itch.io/lo...) when logged into your Itch.io account and clicking Download at the top of the page. You should see a Steam key at the top of the page just under the Itch download.

If not there might be a problem on Itch's side and I'll get in contact with them for you to get this sorted!

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

It seems like there was problem with the Steam keys where some accounts got flagged up and didn't get their Steam keys. This should have been resolved now and everyone should have their Steam key!

Do send us a message if it's not showing up on your purchase page though and we'll get it sorted.

Hi there,

If you go on the page for Loot Rascals (https://hollowponds.itch.io/lootrascals) you should see a button marked Download under the heading You Own This Game. Click that and you should go to your purchase page, on that page should be a button to generate a Steam key.

Hi there everyone!

Loot Rascals is out today!

If you bought a copy of the refinery edition you can now request a Steam key via your purchase page for Loot Rascals. You will need to register an Itch.io account to claim a Steam key.

We will shortly be updating the Itch version to the final version of the game as well so you can still play via the Itch app!

Thanks so much for all your wonderful feedback during the past few months. We couldn't have made the game without your help!

If you have any issues with your Steam key or the launch version of the game, please email us at support@thehollowponds.com

Loot Rascals community · Created a new topic SDL2 Testing

Hi folks,

We have a quick request if anyone would like to help us, we have just uploaded a new version of Loot Rascals that uses a new windowing library so will support things like plugging in a controller after the game has launched, changes the resolution to deal with the window size and fixes a few crashes related to our previous windowing solution.

It would be super useful if some folks could download this new version labeled lootrascals-windows-sdl2test.zip on the download page for Loot Rascals and give it a quick test and letting us know if you have any problem in this thread but also it works fine so we know for sure! If it looks to be fine we'll be implementing this into the next update we upload after Christmas.

Thanks!

Patch Notes - 6/12/16

Crash dumps:

You can now send us a crash dump file that, in the event of a crash, will enable us to work out what caused it

If the game crashes, it will output a file called 'LootRascalsDump.dmp' in the game's working directory

You can get to the working directory by clicking 'Show local files' in the Itch client (the working directory is usually C:\Users\[USER NAME]\AppData\Roaming\itch\apps\Loot Rascals\)

This dump file can be quite large, so to send it to us you can use wetransfer.com - the email address to send to is support@hllwpnds.com

Alternatively, upload it somewhere (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) and email a link to it to us

If you have the facility, putting them in a zip/rar/7z file is also helpful

Balance:

Trying a new slightly better starting hand.

Trying a reduced set of strength / weaknesses from enemies.

Re-worked health machine costs to 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 tokens.

Increased chance of level 1 cards having properties.

No "above or below" or "left and right" cards with bad results.

Made thieves less aggressively target your best cards.

Reduced thieves power a little.

Reduced number of Scrootveg.

Made Scrootveg knock-down only loosen cards from backup inventory.

Increase cost of Reveal Map card to 3 tokens.

Increase strength of Bomb Flock card.

Our current thoughts on balance:

World 1 is about right and shouldn't change too much. We may need to fix some

special "hard straight out of the gate" cases though.

Later worlds could stand to be a bit harder. We're keen to try and add

more challenging situations, rather than gradually boosting enemy power.

We'd like to see more ability cards available in World 1.

Bug Fixes:

Improved behaviour controller deadzone behaviour.

Refined visibility behaviour around Choira Obscura.

Prevent Scrootveg from launching cards into the Happy Landing Zone.

Always reincarnate with max health, even when that is more than 5.

Prevent Night Wizards that have yet to be found from affecting day/night.

Thanks for these Morphix,

Just want to post here to let people know that the game now outputs crash dumps that you can send to us.

This is the info from the latest patch notes:

Hi there, first of all, sorry for the radio silence the past month or so. We've been busy finishing up the game and going through QA for the Playstation 4 version of the game.

We are releasing Loot Rascals on the 7th March. All refinery edition players will receive a Steam key.

One major thing in this build, we have removed the in game feedback button. We will be locking most things down for release on the 9th February and so are removing elements relating to the refinery edition such as this ahead of release. We would still welcome minor feedback via the forums and via email/Twitter. Thanks for all the amazing feedback so far, the game has come on leaps and bounds thanks to all of you!

Hi Morphix,

We have just implemented a crash dump system that will be included in the next build that we upload.

Hi M4ndrake,

Thanks for this feedback!

Did anything stand out that made the run feel too easy for you? If you could share any seeds with us that you feel were too easy that'd be super helpful as well!

We are looking at some ways of having more of the teapot character in the game but we are a bit wary of having him comment on the current game too much as that can get a bit tiresome after a while!

Hi there,

What exactly would you like from the audio settings? Is it just muting either the music or the SFX or would you like to be able to adjust them to your liking?

Hi Valdeir,

Thanks for this!

We will be implementing rebindable keys and other options at some point in the future.

Unfortunately we won't be able to offer character customization as we are a small team and the workload to make it really satisfying prohibits us from implementing it. Hopefully you'll grow to like either of the two characters you can play as though!

We'll have a look at the rest of your feedback when we get a chance.

Wow! Thanks for all this ardonite!

A few quick answers to some of your questions/feedback are:

We should be pushing a new build soon that will fix the in game feedback crashing. I'll let you know when the new build is up if you are not using the itch app which will download the update automatically.

The card stealing on death is when the game uploads your cards to the server if you are logged in (via the itch app/Facebook/Google) and these cards will appear in other player's games held by stronger elite enemies. If the player is able to kill these enemies then they can choose to keep these powerful cards for themselves or return them to you so during a future game you might start with a bonus card or two. This choice does have consequences though involving a holographic version of the original card owner who may help or hinder the other player depending on their actions!

At the moment you are unable to copy out the seed from the menu, we should hopefully be fixing this soon!

We'll take some time and have a look through the rest of your feedback as soon as we get a chance!

Hi there,

We are currently trying to track the issues for logging in via Google/Facebook and if you are having trouble logging in via Google/Facebook as no browser window is opening when you click either of the buttons would it be possible for you to download this test app and let us know if it works or not for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ruxnc43ioqmglvk/browsert...

In the mean time you can log in if you use the itch.io app (www.itch.io/app) to run the game.

Thanks!

As Loot Rascals is still in development there are sure to be bugs and crashes that we have missed!

The best way to let us know about these is to post in this thread with information about the bugs, email us on support@thehollowponds.com or to use the in game feedback form.

Please be aware that we are UK based so we will be monitoring support requests roughly between 9am - 6pm GMT during the week so please be patient if you send us a message outside of these times.

If you experience a crash, the game will now output a crash dump that will enable us to work out what caused it. When the game crashes, it will output a file called 'LootRascalsDump.dmp' in the game's working directory.

You can get to the working directory by clicking 'Show local files' in the Itch client (the working directory is usually C:\Users\[USER NAME]\AppData\Roaming\itch\apps\Loot Rascals\)

Hi there,

Pat from Hollow Ponds here. Thought it would be sensible to post some info here for you lovely folks who've bought the refinery edition of Loot Rascals!

Support: The best way to get hold of us if you have any problems or issues then send us an email via support@thehollowponds.com or send us a message on Twitter at @hllwpnds.

If you have any press questions then we can be reached on press@thehollowponds.com

Feedback: As Loot Rascals is still in development we would love to hear your feedback here on these forums or via the in game feedback form. We are especially looking for feedback about how it feels to play and how fair the enemies and the level generation feel but welcome feedback on most things!

Who We Are: There are a few of us working on Loot Rascals so your questions might get answered by someone else rather than the Hollow Ponds account. Those people are supermaximo93, whitingjp, patashe & KommanderKlobb.

Keeping Loot Rascals Up To Date: The easiest way to keep up to date with any updates we make to Loot Rascals whilst it is still in development is to download the itch.io app. The app auto updates any games you have downloaded so as long as you have the app you'll have the most up to date version of Loot Rascals.

The itch page for Loot Rascals will also always have the latest version of the game to download if you don't want to use the app!

Min Specs:

Intel Core2 Duo E8400, 3.0GHz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6400+, 3.2GHz

Graphics Card: MUST HAVE at least 1gb of VRAM, and support OpenGL 3.0

If you think your system meets this spec but the game isn't working or running well enough then just contact us for a refund on support@thehollowponds.com (but please let us know what your spec is so we know!)

Streaming: There is no NDA or limitations to stream Loot Rascals. If possible it'd be grand if you could let your viewers know that this is a work in progress and not the final version of the game!
