Hey I tested it and it is interesting, looks like a clicker game with upgrade mechanics! I liked to see the lawnmower get extra spicy with every upgrade. I found a bug in the Auto mower upgrade where if you keep on clicking after getting to the max level it -1 from there on the max value.

In the end, the art is there and the concept is a good ground. It can be furtherly expanded into something else! Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback it means a lot :D

The ultimate "dad-type" game. Fun to see the lawn mower get bat wings as its upgraded :)

The two things I really felt like were missing were a lawn mower sound (maybe not a traditional one, because loud lawn mowers can sound loud and annoying, but maybe something more fantastic like a sports car engine) and leaving a trail behind the mower (that's one of the really satisfying things about mowing the lawn IRL -- the nice clean path you leave behind).

Nice work on the pixel art too, it looks good!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback :D

it means a lot and yeah there were some things I wanted to add,  but didn't have the time to, there was a trail when the mower cut grass, but it just doesn't work in the game for some reason, I am planning to add more later on and rebuild the game from the ground up

A nice numbers go up game! Simple and fun :)

Hope to see more cool games from you in the future!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback :D

Developer

i am planing to remake this game from the ground up :D

and my next project is a game about space

Was a very relaxing game to play, could see myself playing something similar after a stressful day at work, did feel a bit painful to get the first upgrade but would try and get it next time i run through it.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback :D the first upgrade is a bit of a grind I did change it from 3000 to 2000 so it made it a little better before I uploaded it to the jam, I will be remaking the game from the ground up fixing issues and bugs :D

I really enjoyed this, however I think the scaling needs a lot of work. It feels like it takes forever to be able to upgrade the actual mower for the first time, and once you do you can max level it in the time it took to to unlock the first level up.

The grass growth and auto mower didn't really feel needed at all, and after maxing the mower I maxed the grass growth, which started to make the game lag.

I think one of the main balancing things would be to lower the original price of the first level up, and to make that price increase each time you do.

You could even make the level up changes a little more gradual so that there could be more total levels.

I also wish there was some music or mowing sounds.

Overall great game!

Developer(+1)

The idea was to have the price for each upgrade go up and change to make the game a bit harder but I ran out of time to add it so the levels/cost are all the same.

You're 100% right about the auto mowers it was meant to have 5 mowers that would go around cutting grass instead of passively earning money after 200 seconds. But it ended up having an awful passive income

After the Jam I'm planning on remaking the game from the ground up, with a better upgrade system, levels, shop, and a better overall game.

from a jam filled with a lot of tense and frightening experiences, im glad that i can finally catch my breath for once with this chill submission! there is something relaxing about seeing the screen gradually get cleared away from the ever growing grass, its very satisfying! the pixel art is very cute too, with a nice variety of greens for the grass to spawn in! the game also plays the numbers game really well, my degenerate mind loves to see number go higher and bar fill quicker, well done! i managed to max level both the lawn mower and the grass growth (accidentally over leveled the grass growth and the level seemingly got smaller? don't know if that affected anything). maybe if there wasn't 900 other games to go through i would have gunned to max level the auto mow as well, but 200 levels is a daunting task xd.

overall, this was a very fun and chill experience, great work!

This was very relaxing! I had to make an effort to stop playing xD
Good job!

Fun

Developer

Thanks bro :D

it's a relaxing cozy game, but I think it misses the aberration part of this game jam theme. Also I would love there to be different maps instead of grass respawning so you would get satisfaction from clearing an area of grass. Kind of like cleaning simulators.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback/review means a lot!

Since I only had around 4, or so days to finish everything I didn't get time to add more, so it's more like a demo game than anything.

But after the jam is over I will be remaking the game and taking my time on it too to fix bugs and add more gameplay and things. like your suggestion add more maps!

I think it fits the theme since "a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected, typically one that is unwelcome." unwelcome grass is unwelcome, and unexpected to keep mowing grass forever with no breaks. so I think it works maybe I don't understand it but I think it fits pretty well with the theme :D.

Conspiracy uncovered! Grass Mowers pays the grass to grow more!!

Very satisfying to play.

Developer

thanks for the rate and for playing means a lot :D

Really relaxing game, I like the grass cut sfx as you endlessly clean the screen of grass. I like the animated pixel art grass, and the way the mower improves visually with the upgrades. Cool game :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback I'll have to check out your game :D means a lot that so many people are enjoying my game

This game is super simple but super relaxing.

It feels like mindless fun in the best way possible. Now I never have to out and touch grass, thanks!

Developer

Thank you :D
I will have to agree with you, never have to go outside again xD

but yeah I planned to make it fun. simple and relaxing

I enjoyed the game. I like that the ui disappears when the player model is covered. I did end up breaking the store ui by buying more than allowed which broke the auto mower. I still loved the game idea and spent about 20 minutes just mowing.

Developer

Thank you for playing, and giving feedback

I'm glad you enjoyed the game and loved the idea, after the game jam I'm going to fix the bugs remake the game from the ground up, and polish it more. I think it's a fun little game and that people would love a full game.

But yeah there are 3 known bugs in the game; Grass Growth, Auto Mower and FPS (which will all be fixed after the jam ends :D)

Submitted(+1)

Simple but cool addictive game, the game become very laggy at the end

Developer

Thank you for the kind words :D

Yeah due to the lighting and shadows the game gets laggy after a while (since every grass acts as a shadow) / blocks light so it has a shadow and the more grass there is the more shadows there are and since you're always moving the shadows are always getting updated

So i will most likely be removing the shadows after the jam :c

Making shapes on the grass was satisfying, especially after grass growth got super high. I don't know if I'm just unlucky, but I got a bug while playing. Passive income was only working in the in the middle part of my gameplay, even with levels in it, and felt like it wasn't changing based on level. I also could upgrade it past max for some reason.

I can see the appeal, but its not my cup of tea. The visuals are actually pretty nice though! It was nice to see the grass flowing, the lighting effect and tiny shadows, and especially the grass seeds rolling around! The simple audio for mowing was good too, and I think adding a quiet and relaxing background music or ambiance would have added to the experience.

Developer

There are 3 bugs that I am aware of, the Grass Growth UI bug, the Auto Mowers going into the negatives, and an FPS issue on the side of the game in the WebGL / HTML version.

Thank you so much for playing my little game, the art style was the hardest thing to do, I remade half the assets like 5 times before I got ones that I liked and that matched the game, the game isn't for everyone. There is background music but after about 4-5 minutes it just stops and doesn't loop (I forgot to loop it) but I will 100% be fixing all these bugs once the game jam is over :D

Thank you for the feedback and the rate :D

Submitted(+1)

Very nice bar filling game. Got me relaxed

Developer

Thank you for the kind words :D

Submitted(+1)

not my favorite type of game, and the audio wasn't working for me, but I know some people who would like it. Good job overall!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback about the audio!

Yeah its not everyone cuppa tea but I'm glad you enjoyed it thanks!

Hi, just checked out your game! The gameplay is a little repetitive for my own tastes, but again, it's just that i don't enjoy that much this type of games. In the end it doesn't have any bugs and it's pretty solid. The one thing I can't wrap my head around is in which way it fits the theme of the jam. I'd like to know your thoughts on this!

Overall pretty solid, it would make a really addicting idle game if you kept developing it in the future, nice job and good luck with it! <333

Developer(+1)

So I had issues with making a game fit the theme, but I think it works, the grass is unwelcome so you have to mow it, but it keeps coming back unexpectedly.

I am planning on remaking it from the ground up and taking my time with it, fixing bugs Ui issues glitches etc etc. then maybe releasing it fully :D but that's later

Thank you for the feedback It means a lot, I'm glad you enjoy my game :D

Submitted(+1)

No problem man, keep it up and good luck with developing it further <3333

Developer(+1)

thanks :D

This game was cool. Even though these types of games aren't my favorite, I still very much enjoyed my play. That one glitch where you could buy infinite grass growing levels is kinda frustrating though, specially when it actually deducts money from my earnings. Still, awesome game.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! means a lot.

I'm glad you still enjoyed my little game, even though there are some bugs like UI and FPS issues (with grass) If I had more time I would of 100% fixed all theses issues before I submitted it to the Jam :D

Submitted(+1)

The more you earn money, the more you can spread fertilizer in the customer's yard to earn even more money. What an evil plan!

I ran into the glitch when I could buy grass growth updates infinitely so the yard was completely full of grass and my laptop started slowing down. I don't think the customer will be happy about that!

But it was a very satisfying idle game, and I felt like I had to continue playing until I fully upgraded every category. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback it means a lot, the grass upgrade was a little broken. I'm sorry about lagging you're laptop.
if I had more time I would have fixed the bugs and the UI glitches/issues but overall I'm happy with what I did in the short time.
