This is a very good game. Easy to pick up, interesting to investigate, balanced in difficulty, nice graphics and sound, and everything works together. Quite unusual concept, though I had no trouble in getting it. I really enjoyed figuring this game out, and final chime is a great reward for winning! Congrats on such a cool release!
Loved the game it felt alot like a mobile game tho could release it to it haha :D
wow, this was absolutely amazing, one of the most polished games i've played in the jam so far! the game does so much to sell the world that you're playing in through its various mechanics. the phone especially is such an engaging mechanic to play around with, due to its many purposes in game. you use it to engage with fun dialogue with the person that's helping you out (who also give various hints throughout the game), to check the status of the VAC, to look at the remaining objectives to do in the level, to scan where the ghost is, and finally to capture the picture of the ghost. the phone is so useful that its hard not to put it down, but the downsides are that it slows down the player's movement speed and 3 out of the 4 screens obscures most of the player's vision, so theres this really fun balancing act of how you use the phone, which is very nice! also love how the mechanics get further expanded into the game, with each new addition creating its own new challenge to go through! the transit scanning was especially a nice touch, so stress inducing to interface with when a ghost is chasing you down! really appreciate that the game doesn't remove all your progress after dying once as well, very nice stuff!
the presentation is also just as amazing! i love how the phone looks as it pops in and out of the screen! the sprite is also very cute and plays into the tone of the game really well! the contrast between the cute graphics and anxiety inducing haunted train station setting makes the atmosphere that much more tense, especially when it turns from 0 to 100 with the visual effects going crazy! the audio really elevates this to another level, the sound design is so good!!! every audio decision feels intentional and well crafted! i was scared shitless when i heard the ghost proximity beeping sound for the first time, i had no idea what was happening and it was gradually getting more intense the closer it got! the chase sequence stuff also had nice audio stuff in play with the crazy ambient noises, really added to the desperate retreat back to the VAC!
incredible work, gotta be up there for one of my favorite submissions so far, well done!
Amazing game! Loved it to pieces!
I really like how you slowly amp up the complexity of the mechanics from this game when it comes to the name-finding mechanic. Nicely polished and satisfying game! I was hoping the final level would be Jay St though lmaoo
ok im definitively too much of a coward for this kind of game. really nice game, everyone said it already but yeah, great level of polish, atmosphere is on point (god, that train noise from the 3rd ghost!)
overall a really good game!
Gotta be one of the best games. The level of polish is insane, I also appreciate the QOL featues like not having to find out the name again. Atmosphere and gameplay loop is spot on.
There are so many ways you can go with this. Some of my ideas: To throw you off, levels that shift layout after the ghost starts chasing you. Also , a card swiping or keypad code minigame to make running away even more stressful.
Just finished your game and gave it 5/5 in all categories. It deserves it. Everything was so polished! The sound effects, gameplay, art, and lighting were perfect. Love the little dance and music at the end when you beat it and that your final time shows.
Also, as someone else said, having to swipe as you're being chased by an angry ghost is so stressful (in a good way). Great implementation of tension with breaks in between.
Really cool game! The visuals are fantastic and the gameplay would offer a lot of replayability if it was extended further more after this jam. It still looks very polished for a jam game. Good job with this one, I enjoyed so much playing it <33333
Good luck!!! :333
Great game! I like the concept and implementation, maybe you can consider adding some new content post-jam :) The sound design is really good too.
Would be good to also have some features improving the overall user experience, like progress saving or level selection. Now it's easy to just quit the game accidentally by pressing esc and the progress is lost.
P.S. Having to swipe the card at each gate while running away from angry ghosts was a really nice touch :)
Really good game. The sounds and visual effects created a great atmosphere in both the research phase and escape phase.
I liked that the camera served multiple purposes and how your partner reacts to some photos. The phone was usefull all around, but I think that in the escape phase it could have been used more to create suspance, like when it was used to open doors.
The levels structure can be a bit disorienting, but making a mental map of the place knowing that I would have to run through it later was something I liked. I felt it is a difficulty that the player is forced to engage with rather than an annoyance. In some places a more varied tileset could be used to make this task easier.
My only issue was that I instinctively pressed esc while trying to close the phone on the third level and accidentally closed the game. Maybe this can fixed with a pause menu, saving system or more quickly with having to hold esc to close.
Thanks for the detailed feedback! These are all great points -- I'm working on a post-jam update, and I'll be sure to incorporate these changes into it.
Cool!
