What do you like about your game?
So far I like the storyline I constructed, given it was only 2 weeks

Such a good experience! The writing is fantastic and the scenes how they slowly develop and expand upon the Lore really helps to create a believable world. The characters are charming and the movements in certain scenes really added a lot to the presentation. great job!
Beautiful art, great writing!
Cool setting and art. But unfortunately, font is too hard to read. I suggest to raise resolution a bit after the jam ends
Will do! I plan on experimenting heavily with that. I may ultimately redo some of the art as well just to make things more readable.
I don't normally like visual novels.
But this one was different than most and was enjoyable to read. it was a bit hard to read the font sometimes there would be small lines or visual bugs with the text that made it hard, but it was good.
The story/dialog was on point just like how @TheJayDuck said below. The story was a bit too long for me, I kinder zoned out after a while but that's just me I don't reading games. LOL
Other then that the art was nice the colours worked well and gave me a undertale style vibe it worked well great job!
Such amazing storytelling! Also, the use of color schemes on the characters was on point. My only nitpick would be the font choice, it was a bit of a chore to read considering the length of the visual novel, but otherwise great job!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it!
For future reference, could I get more details about the issues with the font choice? I'd like to try tweaking it a bit if possible. I suspect others may have felt the same.
Firstly, I’m not a font expert. My main problem with the font was mostly inconsistent spacing between letters, which made it look a bit messy and harder to read each word. I also think that the font has too much going on, as in it was visually overwhelming I guess. I don’t know what might be causing that but my assumption would be the resolution of the font. I understand you’re going for a pixel art style, and a smaller font works for things like name tags. But for areas with a lot of text, it can cause straining after a while. Oh, also the shadow behind the font might be a bit too much, a flatter look might be better, but you probably need to experiment on what works best. I would suggest you search for “pixel art visual novel fonts” or something similar and look at some example screenshots from other games to get a reference on how they handle their font.
Thanks for the details here! Looking it over... I basically agree with everything you said here. Probably before my next visual novel I should first address these aspects
What a rich and meaningful story! Your imagery sets the scenes well, and your selection of audio fx is excellent.
It kept me engaged all the way to the end. Well done!
This story was so good, it had me engaged the whole time. Even without actual gameplay or even decision making, it is just, put simply, a really good story. Any story that can make you feel genuinely upset out of character interest has succeeded!
So, after quite a while, i finally had a chance to play this, and can I just say I love this whole thing? I fully enjoy the story, the ending and everything that involves this story. Although i would have wished for a bit of interactivity, everything was splendid. Keep up the good work!
Dude your wish is my wish! I originally planned to make something akin to ace attorney... but I ran out of time T.T
I love the story so much, the art style is just so pleasing to look at and goes so well with the story itself, it really ties everything together.. (that ending got me)
Alright so I'll preface with I'm not a huge fan of visual novels. This one had the same issue I have with a lot of books: It took a while to get to the turning point. But, I'm not going to talk much about that, because honestly I'm not a good judge for this! I'll leave that to the book lovers :) The artwork however, that's good. a nice palette with well-done characters! However, the backgrounds had some strange artifacting sometimes. Overall, this is a visual novel with nice graphics (aside from some backgrounds) and a story I'll leave the book lovers to review properly :)
Totally appreciate your take. Visual novels aren't for everyone, and I could understand why they'd feel too slow for most.
That being said, thank you very much for your review here! Your opinion helps me understand what works about my game even despite it being a visual novel.
Good Game 🎮
I'm not big on visual novels, so I'm mostly just giving feed back on visuals. Your pixel art is fantastic! Nicely done! It really builds an atmosphere and is just nice to look at.
Hi, I loved the style on this one as it reminded me of "Papers, Please" a lot! Very good job <33333
Good luck mate! :33
I think the author likes waffles
Hmm I wonder what makes you think that?
Great writing and story - it was a compelling experience.. I liked the style and presentation too.
All in all - great job :)
Thank you Ian! I'm glad that the experience was compelling as well!
I think most of my stress during the jam was in worrying about whether I could stick the landing or not. Coding and Art were much easier in comparison to that.
The art and the story being the main features of the game both really shine. It was gripping right until the end.
That was an intense story... Very immersive the whole time and I have never played through a game in this genre. The characters all had a lot of depth, the art style was charming, and the story and pacing of the dialogue felt very natural. Great work!
Good work!
Thanks man!
Wanted to double check: were you able to view the whole story? I got reports from some folks they ran into crashes on their machine.
Hey, I had the same person report a crash with their virtual machine on my game but it is working okay on other systems as far as I can tell.. Do you have any idea what that could be? I built my game in Godot on Win11.
From discussion on my main page, they can get the opening start screen menu but then the game just freezes and goes to black. I unfortunately dont have a windows 11 machine of my own to test it with, and I cant submit a bugfix b/c voting is going on.
To be fair, I havent heard of a crash on an actual windows 11 machine, so I dont know if it's just a VM issue. Right now we're suspecting render driver issues with opengl3
By any chance do you have a real windows 11 machine you could test the game with?
I've had others play the game at this point with no issues, so I can promise there are no viruses at all (heck the source code comes with the game)
Yes, just played through. No crashes, and I thought the game was fantastic! I will leave a proper review in another comment.
It works without problem. On win 10
